That folks are still supporting ObamaCare, or that those that are elected to make decisions — presumably well-informed decisions — make statements like these:House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, (D-MD) said Tuesday that the healthcare reform bill now pending in Congress would garner very few votes if lawmakers actually had to read the entire bill before voting on it.Read that? Good. Back up and concentrate on something here:…if lawmakers actually had to read the entire bill…Do you get as pissed off as I do about that phrase? DO YOU?IF you do, then you understand the point I’m getting at.

The Dithercratic Party just can’t make up its mind about the economy and the budget; but at least they’ve narrowed down the options: The Obama stimulus package may have been too much… …Or too little… …Or possibly just right. But that’s as fine as they can shave it: Democrats who control the levers of power in Washington are divided over whether to push for more deficit spending to end the recession and stem job losses, complicating the possibility of a second stimulus bill….
ObamaCare vs. Roe V. Wademijopo.livejournal.com

A friend of my mine posted a link on FB to an article discussing the possible tension between government regulated health care and the privacy principles of Roe V. Wade.  http://spectator.org/archives/2009/06/30/is-obamacare-the-end-of-roe-v/ .    I’m not really sure what to make of the argument.  As a proponent of a single payer system I don’t have strong opposition to government involving itself in health care distribution and I’ll acknowledge that the privacy arguments underpinning Roe V.

Hoyer: No one would vote for ObamaCare if they read the bill Hot Air The modern definition of gaffe is “the accidental act of a politician telling the truth.” Steny Hoyer gives us a demonstration in his assessment of the health-care reform bill his party is pushing in both chambers of Congress. The bill will get plenty of support as long as no one actually bothers to learn what it does: House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) said Tuesday that the health-care reform bill now pending in Congress would garner very few votes if lawmakers actually had to read the entire bill before voting on it.

By Kevin Siekierski, on July 8, 2009 at 8:51 pm Members of Congress who approve a bill without reading it should be impeached.  Same with the President.  I’m not sure if Congress could or would impeach one of its own members.  Short of impeachment, they should be recalled.  How many of these bums have actually read through the TARP bill and the stimulus bill and the cap-and-trade bill and, now, the Obamacare bill?  You probably couldn’t find one Senator or Representative that read them all.

The Center for American Progress Action Fund (a mainstream Democratic think tank run by lobbyist and former Clinton Chief of Staff John Podesta) has prepared health care fact sheets for every state. Here is what they say about the Bay State:
In Massachusetts, 430 people are losing their health care every day during this economic crisis. Nationally, 14,000 people are losing their health insurance every day. … The average family premium in Massachusetts costs $500 more because our broken health care system fails to cover everyone.

I debated whether to even bother posting this video, because I doubt there are any readers of this blog who aren’t already aware that the public plan “option” was conceived by Democrats as a backdoor strategy to move the country towards government run healthcare. However, Krugman took it upon himself to  attack our friends at the Heritage Foundation earlier this week, accusing them of citing false information and flatly calling them a “propaganda shop”.  Karl over at Patterico does a superb job refuting Krugman’s post, and exposing another key myth of ObamaCare in the process.
New Poll Shows Americans Believe Palinlamecherry.blogspot.com

Well, well, well, what have we here in this blog by God’s Grace was spot on concerning the plunge of Barack Obama’s poll numbers taking after June and they are in an epic plunge of in the 35 point range. And get this, his numbers are tanking faster just since May. Obama poll numbers falling hard This is following on the heals of Obama just extorting huge sums out of hospitals for his government Obamacare programs.

Cory Heidelberger makes this argument in the Madison paper: Thursday’s editorial waves the usual red flag of terror at the prospect of government making your health care decisions. Let government pay for health care, and next thing you know, government will be telling you what doctor to see, what pills to take, and so on… so goes the usual refrain.

What a surprise (not): WASHINGTON — Under pressure to spend stimulus money quickly, many states are using the federal funds for short-term projects and to fill budget gaps rather than spending on long-term improvements, according to a report by congressional investigators. The report, scheduled to be released Tuesday by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) at a House oversight hearing, also says many states aren’t meeting some goals and requirements of the economic recovery program.
Smaller Government = Campaign Finance Reformtroglopundit.wordpress.com
07/08/2009
Life is short, so I’m starting with the conclusion: If you’re a Campaign Finance Reformer, then reducing the size of government should be right smack dab in the center of your agenda. The way to get money out of politics is to get politicians out of our lives. Reduce government influence. When government has less influence, people have less reason to spend time and money influencing government. So, all you Campaign Finance Reformers, you should be on the Small Government bandwagon.
The Video That Could Kill ObamaCarearcticchicken.wordpress.com

Let’s hope it does. http://patriotroom.com/article/the-video-that-could-kill-obamacare We don’t what happens in Canada and Great Britain. It will be abyssmal. Instead we should have a system similar to car insurance, which is required to have by law. Funny thing is there is no government car insurance program that I know of. If there is, let me know. The more healthier and responsible you are, the less you should pay.

Brian pointed to the bizarre reposition of Rep. Charles Melancon (D-LA) on card-check. But this points to a broader pattern. Senators running in 2010 in potentially contests Senate seats are afraid to take a position on the issue. For example, in Colorado, appointed Senator Michael Bennet is “stuck in neutral” on card check, according to the Denver Post . In Arkansas, Blanche Lincoln won’t support it . Pennsylvania’s Arlen Specter is famously wrapped around the axle on it .

In this case, he gets confronted on statistics about Canada’s health care and conservative FUD about waiting lines and rationing, etc. RELATED WSJ publishes op-ed falsely equating “ObamaCare” with Canadian “single-payer” system Rudy’s Fuzzy Healthcare Math (Giuliani campaign used b.s. stats from a Gratzer paper) Bogus Cancer Stats, Again

Obama and Pelosi like to brag about how this is the most ethical, transparent Congress EVAH! , but that’s far from the truth. Bills aren’t available far enough in advance that Americans can read them before they’re voted on. Obama certainly hasn’t gone over any bill “line by line” to make sure no earmarks make their way in. And now, the latest, Steny Hoyer laughs at the notion that members of Congress would actually read a bill before voting on it .

The Washington Post asks a question that has such an obvious answer, Alec MacGillis takes a couple of dozen paragraphs to avoid answering it.  Who says no in a single-payer system? The question came from a Colorado neurologist. “Mr. President,” he said at a recent forum, “what can you do to convince the American public that there actually are limits to what we can pay for with our American health-care system? And if there are going to be limits, who . . .

This is so good that I’m shamelessly borrowing it (with credit) from Hot Air : 0: The number of unrehearsed, unscripted questions asked of President Obama during his “Town Hall” on health care reform. 13: The number of teeth that British veteran Ian Boynton pulled out himself with pliers “because he couldn’t find an NHS (National Health Service) dentist… [he] could not afford to go private for treatment so instead took the drastic action to remove 13 of his teeth that were giving him severe pain.” 14:  The percentage of all patients in Britain who wait more than one (1) year to receive treatment after a referral by a general practitioner.
Mark Steyn on Obamacareaxisofright.com

I was listening to a bit of Mark Steyn filling-in for Rush today, when he mentioned an interesting concept on socialized health care:  the nationalization of your body .  Put simply, if you do not belong to yourself anymore (i.e., no longer have control over health decisions of your body), isn’t that a form of slavery? In a Washington Times article from June 14 , Steyn said this about a story in Quebec: “In the province of Quebec, patients with severe incontinence – i.e., they’re in the bathroom 12 times a night – wait three years for a simple 30-minute procedure.
