Today was not a good day for ObamaCare. First, the Blue Dogs are howling in protest. Politico reports: Arkansas Rep. Mike Ross, a key negotiator on health care for moderate Blue Dog Democrats, has warned that “there’s no way they can pass the current bill on the House floor. Not even close.” Ross doesn’t believe the bill unveiled Tuesday comes close to curtailing the ever-escalating costs of health care spending, particularly for Medicare.

NBC, ABC and CBS all aired exclusive interviews with President Barack Obama last night discussing his sweeping plans to assume government control over the nation’s health care industry. But none of the networks seemed aware of the bombshell easily discovered by Investor’s Business Daily and confirmed by the House Ways and Means Committee: a provision in the bill that severely limits private health insurance choice.

The Congressional Budget Office had some bad news for the Obama Administration: One of the main arguments made by the President and others for investing in health reform now is that it will save the federal government money in the long run by containing costs. Turns out that may not be the case, according to Doug Elmendorf, director of the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office.

Deviating from the official script, and committing a possibly career killing act of honesty, Congressional Budget Office Director Douglas Elmendorf says Congress’ current version of ObamaCare will actually increase costs:Instead of saving the federal government from fiscal catastrophe, the health reform measures being drafted by congressional Democrats would worsen an already bleak budget outlook, increasing deficit projections and driving the nation more deeply into debt, the director of the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office said this morning.

Congressman John Yarmuth (D – KN) appeared on Fox News to answer questions about Obama-Care, now being drafted by Democrats in Congress. How will it be paid for? We can change practice patterns, we’ve set up the mechanism in the bill to do that to hold down costs and change the trajectory of costs in health care. These “practice patterns” the government would change, through coercive regulations, are medical practice patterns. Apparently, the Democrats believe that medical decisions made by doctors are generic enough to be subjected to broad regulation by bureaucrats in Washington.

Small businesses that create most of the new jobs in America would be hammered by the House version of ObamaCare, which includes a new 5% surtax on taxpayers with more than $1,000,000 of income. When combined with state income taxes and the federal Medicare tax, this would drive the top tax burden, for the most successful small businesses to well over 50% in most of the nation. Here in California it would be 58%. The only possible result is fewer jobs, at the very moment when unemployment is at its highest rate in almost three decades.

You know how president Obama keeps saying if you’re happy with your health care plan you can keep it? You know how president Obama keeps saying his “public option” is meant to increase competition and exist alongside private insurance? He’s a liar. This from Investor’s Business Daily : Congress: It didn’t take long to run into an “uh-oh” moment when reading the House’s “health care for all Americans” bill. Right there on Page 16 is a provision making individual private medical insurance illegal.

One of the main arguments made by the President and others for investing in health reform now is that it will save the federal government money in the long run by containing costs. Turns out that may not be the case, according to Doug Elmendorf, director of the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office.

No wonder the crap has to be pushed through fast, before anybody finds out what’s in the giant crap sandwich of government takeover of health-care. Kudos to Investment Business Daily for uncovering a doozy in the House version of Obamacare: It didn’t take long to run into an “uh-oh” moment when reading the House’s “health care for all Americans” bill. Right there on Page 16 is a provision making individual private medical insurance illegal.

It’s approved by the Health Administration Bureau , so you know it’s peachy keen!

So much for the keeping individual private insurance crap. Under Obamacare, it’s illegal.

So, who is going to pay for Obamacare, President Obama’s Universal health care scheme? I guess the residents of New York City – for one of many. Congressional plans to fund a massive health-care overhaul could have a job-killing effect on New York, creating a tax rate of nearly 60 percent for the state’s top earners and possibly pressuring small-business owners to shed workers. New York’s top income bracket could reach as high as 57 percent — rates not seen in three decades — to pay for the massive health coverage proposed by House Democrats this week.

I’m using “bombshell” unironically. You and I know that it’ll explode spending but The One’s actually been pitching this boondoggle — insanely — as a cost-saving measure, even though it’s common knowledge that ObamaCare 1.0, a.k.a. Medicare, is well on its way to bankrupting America. The cat’s all the way out of the bag now.Conrad: Dr. Elmendorf, I am going to really put you on the spot because we are in the middle of this health care debate, but it is critically important that we get this right.

In the coming mess that is known as healthcare reform, page 16 of the House version of healthcare reform takes away your right to have private insurance . The provision would indeed outlaw individual private coverage. Under the Orwellian header of “Protecting The Choice To Keep Current Coverage,” the “Limitation On New Enrollment” section of the bill clearly states: “Except as provided in this paragraph, the individual health insurance issuer offering such coverage does not enroll any individual in such coverage if the first effective date of coverage is on or after the first day” of the year the legislation becomes law.

16th July 2009, 02:04 pm More bad news for Democrats’ frantic plan to ram universal health care through Congress in the next three weeks. The organization that initially was responsible for derailing the Obama single payer, universal health care freight train has put another nail in its coffin. From the Washington Post:Under questioning by members of the Senate Budget Committee, CBO director Douglas Elmendorf said bills crafted by House leaders and the Senate health committee do not propose

by Chuck MacNab The various sorts of liberal legislation, including “Obamacare,” now being rammed through Congress remind us of Jimmy Carter’s 1978 Air Line Deregulation Bill. It was championed in Congress at the time and imposed on the Airlines, their employees and the traveling public by, you guessed it, the grand champion of liberal causes, Senator Ted Kennedy. We know because we were walking the halls of Congress at the trying desperately to stop this Bill.

By Josh Price Republicans are stubborn, obstacles to providing healthcare to every American, according to the New York Times story titled: Healthcare Vote Illustrates Stubborn Partisan Divide : A party-line Senate committee vote on legislation to remake the nation’s health care system underscored the absence of political consensus on what would be the biggest changes in social policy in more than 40 years. The bill, which aims to make health insurance available to all Americans , was approved, 13 to 10, by the Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions.

There’s a reason Democrats try to ram their massive bills through quickly before anyone can read them. Right there on Page 16 is a provision making individual private medical insurance illegal. | Author:johan | Filed under:Other, Politics, United States News | Here’s a pretty good video about socialized medicine by comedian and social/political commentator Steven Crowder. I have to say he is right about universal healthcare; I live in Finland which has a very similar system to that of Canada. The Washington Post ran an editorial yesterday which actually criticized Congress’ latest health care proposal! That’s right, the Washington Post , known for it’s Obama-Mania and mindless acquiescence to anything Dear Leader wants, actually criticized Democrat plans to pay for socialized health care through taxing the rich: “Pretending that ‘the rich’ alone can fund government, let alone the kind of activist government that the president and Congress envision, is bad policy any way you

Day By Day by Chris Muir Chris, you are correct. The old and inform will NOT do well under Obamacare as the wealth of America is “spread around” with rationing and redistribution of health care resources. And, look at how Obama and the Congressional Democrats are paying for the Obamacare reform – massive tax increases which WILL hit the Middle Class and Small Business owners.

It amazes me that the AARP seems to be on the Obamacare train. No one argues that any public health system will have to carefully consider where to apply its limited funds. One obvious place to cut back will be care for the elderly. When put into pretty much any equation, those who’ve already had many decades, who have few years ahead of them at best, and who have many health issues will be seen as a poor investment of healthcare dollars.
