A group of six “centrist” senators has asked Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to slow down the stampede to pass health care reform. A bipartisan group of centrist and conservative senators sent a letter to the Democratic and Republican leaders on Friday urging delay in consideration of health care reform. The letter, obtained by the Huffington Post, was drafted by Sen. Ben Nelson (D-Neb.) and is also signed by Democratic Sens. Mary Landrieu (La.) and Ron Wyden (Ore.).

I should know better than to think, “They can’t be serious proposing that!” But the Democrats’ fix for healthcare sends even my shock-and-surprise meter into red zone. The President’s self-styled Health Reform Plan, or ObamaCare , reforms [fixes] nothing . It robs Peter to pay…who? No one? ObamaCare calls for $1.5 trillion (yes, with a “t”) dollars in new expenses.

Those who earn between $20,000 and $75,000 per year believe even more strongly that health care reform will require raising taxes on the middle class. Seventy-eight percent (78%) of U.S. voters say it is at least somewhat likely that taxes will be raised on the middle class to cover the cost of health care reform. Fifty-six percent (56%) say it’s very likely. Read More Not only will middle and low income class Americans will be paying higher taxes, but the poor will be paying higher prices for food and other needed products plus many more will lose their jobs.

Our wonderful specially selected congressman was one of 50 members of the House “Progressive” Caucus that sent a letter to Speaker Nancy Pelosi saying they would not support any health care bill not including a single payer plan. For those who don’t know, a single payer plan means the federal government would completely control our health care. Yeah, I know you all want government bureaucrats deciding if Aunt Flossie gets her liver transplant, and I know you all want to pay for “free” health care for everyone in the country—legal or illegal because that is what Congressman Hare wants for his district.

Obamacare to Outlaw Private Health Insuranceamericayouaskedforit.wordpress.com

From All American Blogger : So we can all keep our coverage, just as promised — with, of course, exceptions: Those who currently have private individual coverage won’t be able to change it. Nor will those who leave a company to work for themselves be free to buy individual plans from private carriers. All American Blogger , Jul 2009 You should read the whole article .

I’ve been having an interesting Facebook discussion with one of the members of the BPN Forums, LLansing . It started with my status update asserting that the new health care bill would make private individual medical insurance illegal. (By the way, here’s my Facebook page ). Here’s my initial Facebook status update: Illegal to own individual private medical insurance? Bleep this bleeping piece of bleep federal bleeping government and every bleeping moron who voted to put these bleeping stupid bleepholes into office.

Pelosi: “Wholesome Dynamism” on Health Carethepracticalvegetarian.wordpress.com
07/17/2009
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D – California) Speaker Nancy Pelosi is attempting to rally legislators to move forward on Obama’s health care by declaring that everything’s okay and on schedule and the Congress is acting with “wholesome dynamism,” according to Fox News . Huh? Pelosi appears to be in denial of the truth.  The Democrats’ expensive health care reform legislation, which could cost $2 trillion or more inside a decade, is losing ground fast.

Michelle Malkin’s column today does a fabulous job of exposing the new beast of a bureaucracy the health care bill will create : Because 32 “czars” isn’t enough, the Democrat plan would add another overlord to the Obama administration. The new “Health Choices Commissioner” would helm the new “Health Choices Administration” (Section 141 of the bill) – separate from the already existing Department of Health and Human Services, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (formerly the Health Care Financing Administration), the Veterans Health Administration, and the Indian Health Service.

The House Ways and Means committee approved a half-trillion dollar tax increase overnight, but the ABC and NBC morning news shows offered only a single sentence to the development, while CBS’s Early Show skipped it entirely. Neither NBC’s Today nor ABC’s Good Morning America mentioned the tax increases $544 billion price tag, as each newscast folded the development into larger pieces on President Obama’s push for health care “reform.” ABC’s Deborah Roberts first gave a mere two sentences to the CBO report that contradicts White House claims that Obama’s plan would save money.

I had the story the other day of the plans for a surcharge on high earners to pay for Obamacare, but let’s be serious, the surcharge won’t come close to paying for Obamacare. However, Nancy Pelosi, the eternal optimist, thinks there will be money left over and instead of cutting taxes and returning the stolen funds to those who earned it, she’ll just throw it at the rest of the black hole the Dems are creating : House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Thursday that Democrats could use a proposed new tax on the wealthy to pay down the deficit, if there’s money left over after funding healthcare reform.

One month ago, support was tied at 41% to 41%. In the intervening weeks the public has been subjected to an onslaught of supportive media propaganda. Obama has been on tv and all over the country pitching it. So, why is support going down? Is the Obama magic wearing thin? Do people see how wrong his stimulus plan has gone? Are people rejecting Obama’s socialist agenda? 78% also recognize that taxes will go up even though Obama promises they won’t. Of course, none of this matters.

Fitting in well with my persistent theme that we’re living “Atlas Shrugged” and that things must get worse for the voters before they get better – because it will take things getting worse for voters to rebel against The One, Pelosi, Frank, Dodd, Schumer, etc – is today’s news that unemployment is now over 10% in fifteen states plus the District of Columbia: Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Washington, DC.

Matt Taibbi gets to it : Ask yourself this question: has borrowing money gotten any cheaper for you this year? Did someone from the government walk up to you after you foreclosed on your house or missed payments on your charge card and, as a favor, just because you’re so cool, jack your credit score back up to the 99th percentile and invite you to start all over again? Because that’s what happened to these assholes. They made every bad move you can think of and they not only got a clean credit slate but a vitually ceiling-free spending limit.

“Will you geriatric leeches just die already?  Why are you still here?  My grandma didn’t want to be a burden on the taxpayers, but she opted for surgery and she croaked shortly thereafter.  Why can’t you selfish geezers learn from her lesson, that expensive care for your shriveled behind is a waste of taxpayer money (’cuz I really care about proper stewardship of tax dollars)?  Don’t you think it’s a good idea to learn from my grandma’s mistake and make her the poster child for euthanasia?” That’s the attitude that old folks can expect from the Socialist in Chief.

Michael Sean Winters even writes columns I totally agree with or very much disagree with. This column is the wacko department. See his piece at the Catholic Americ a magazine blog Yes, Let’s Tax the Super-Rich to Pay for Health Care . Now there are many problems with this. The use of the term neo cons is annoying. I thought neo con referred to a particular foreign policy mindset but now it appears to refer to a specific economic mindset as well. Who knew? He states at the end ” I vote for Democrats for one primary reason.
Health Rationingholycoast.blogspot.com

Here’s what you can look forward to under Obamacare: It’s a bit over the top, but in every country where nationalized health care has gone into effect rationing of some sort was sure to follow. It’s about saving money, not lives. Just look what’s happening in Massachusetts where the state government required everyone to have insurance (from Don Surber ): Experts are surprised to learn that its universal health care program has led to “the high price and heavy use of hospitals,’’ and so they are recommending the state stiff doctors and hospitals.

“Except as provided in this paragraph, the individual health insurance issuer offering such coverage does not enroll any individual in such coverage if the first effective date of coverage is on or after the first day [of the year the legislation becomes law].” – section 102 of the ironically-titled America’s Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009 effectively forces enrollment in the public plan, thereby eliminating private insurance altogether.

If anyone doubts Obamacare is not just rationing, but rationing based on your pre-existing conditions, here are some eye openers. First, Obamacare relies on cutting health care costs (which means cutting health care services) for the elderly and poor : Obama’s health care proposal is, in effect, the repeal of the Medicare program as we know it. The elderly will go from being the group with the most access to free medical care to the one with the least access.

One of the most important things to remember about Obamacare, is that it isn’t “reform.” It is merely an expansion of current government programs combined with the creation of new federal bureaucracies such as:Health Choices AdministrationPublic Health Investment FundHealth Insurance Exchange Trust FundBureau of Health InformationOffice of Minority HealthHealth Care Program Integrity Coordinating CouncilNational Health Care Workforce CommissionAnd, don’t forget, these new hives of government drones

Earthside Comments: There are train-loads of money for health care in this country. The insurance mega-corporations and the pharmaceutical mega-corporations make huge profits and contain huge ‘administrative’ bureaucracies. But instead of boldly supplanting this wasteful interposition of profiteers and ‘bean-counters’ between doctor and patient, President Obama and the timid Dimcrats in Congress decided that the major part of reform would mean building an entirely new “public option.” Genuine health care reform means just one thing: single-payer.
Obama’s Big Health Care LIE!!!!garneringrightideas.com
07/17/2009
“If you like your health plan, you can keep it,” President Barack Obama. That is a LIE!!! If that is true Mr. President you better have a talk with those writing the bills you are touting. The bills as written make your statement false. These bills would force individuals to switch to managed-care plans. Further these bills limit a patients access to specialists and tests that most current plans cover. If you are comfortable with a bureaucrat selecting a plan they feel is in your best interest then you will be happy with the plans under consideration.

-By Warner Todd Huston I’m sorry, I’m not much for name calling but this woman is an idiot. She is claiming that the oppressive surtax can “also” go to retire the Obama $1 trillion deficit if there is any “left over” after Obamacare is “paid for”! House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Thursday that Democrats could use a proposed new tax on the wealthy to pay down the deficit, if there’s money left over after funding healthcare reform.

-By Warner Todd Huston Here’s another one of those wonderful examples of how the Old Media will use a headline that makes a stark claim about how rotten Republicans are for opposing a Democratic plan while at the same time conveniently ignoring the opposition to the same idea among Democrats. This time it is the “ partisan divide ” in the healthcare debate. The Times tsks Republicans for solidly lining up to oppose Obama’s wild grab for nearly 20 percent of the nation’s economy through his healthcare plans.

An amazing new development!  The MEA has apparently taken a stand on the efforts of the Obama administration with this quote: Doug Pratt Of The MEA “This is a massive expansion of government at a time when we can’t even get the budget balanced,” said MEA spokesman Doug Pratt. “These savings aren’t here and the taxpayers shouldn’t fall for it. Why would public school employees trust the health of their families to a state bureaucracy in Lansing?” Oh.. right..

Dr. Ada M. Fisher – Obamacare is coming and the price is one politicians and the public don’t truly appreciate. Not only will choices of providers be limited, services cut and pertinent problems not dealt with, but the cost will be prohibitive no matter who pays. Doing what we are doing is not the way, but there are options which aren’t as burdensome and allow more access to care than being discussed. The one Obama Administration appointment which may prove brilliant is that of Dr.

If you believe any poll that Rasmussen puts out you might as well believe in Santa Klaus.
Rasmussen is well known for it’s providing Republicans with the best polling that money can buy.
    From widipedia:
Scott Rasmussen was a paid consultant for the 2004 George W. Bush campaign. Rasmussen presidential polling numbers tend to be an outlier among samples taken from other polling organizations. Others have pointed out that the reason Rasmussen’s polls trend more Republican than other mainstream polls is simply that he samples likely voters. [11] John Marshal of Talking Points Memo has said, “The toplines tend to be a bit toward the Republican side of the spectrum, compared to the average of other polls. But if you factor that in they’re pretty reliable. Networks such as MSNBC simply do not use Rasmussen polls. Conversely, conservative media frequently refers to Rasmussen, praising them for being the first to ask about a relevant issue or to ask questions that other polsters do not.
