When I read these acronyms, part of me is carried back to my childhood cartoons like Lancelot Link:  Secret Chimp and APE (Association to Prevent Evil) or, in this case, NICE (National Institute of Coordinated Experiments), from That Hideous Strength, by C.S. Lewis. Yes, Great Britain’s healthcare program really does have a NICE, which stands for National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence. And it’s goal is every bit of that which C.S. Lewis described. I often think that C.S.

In the past, I have always considered myself an independent voter who most often leaned toward the Republican side of political issues.   That was back when the Republican Party’s platform was built on certain conservative values such as fiscal responsibility and limited government.  However, it seems that over the last decade … or maybe since Ronald Reagan … the Republican Party has losts its focus and has simply become just another version of the same incompetent politicians who currently make up the the leftist leadership of the democratic party.  Both party’s political leadership  simply push their own agendas and self-interests … rather than doing the job we elected them to.

Dick Morris and Eileen McGann write at Dick Morris.com that Obama’s health care plan is likely to become law, ending medicine as we know it in the United States - unless he’s stopped: In two weeks, Obama’s health care plan is likely to become law, ending medicine as we know it in the United States! Unless we can stop him, our own personal access to medical care will be attenuated (no matter if we can pay for it ourselves) and we will all be subject to bureaucratic rationing.

Runaway Train To Less Freedom, Higher Taxes And Rationed CareBy MICHAEL O. LEAVITT | Posted Friday, July 17, 2009 4:20 PM PT President Obama and the Democratic leadership are trying to ram a medical insurance bill through Congress in record speed, before anyone can get a good look at it. This 1,000-page monstrosity was released last Tuesday. The president wanted to see voting start by Thursday.

A front page article in Friday’s Wall Street Journal reminds us, perhaps unintentionally, that The President and Congress, with the exception of less than a dozen members, has decided the Constitution is obsolete, and irrelevant.  The article, titled “Moderate Senators Hold Key to High-Stakes Legislation,” says: …the balance of power in determining the course of events — and the fate of the Obama agenda — lies with about a dozen centrist senators, a few of them Republicans but most Democrats.

A night after CBS and NBC skipped the assessment from the chief of the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) that the Senate and House health plans won’t meet President Obama’s pledge to not increase deficit spending, the two networks caught up only when Obama, reacting to “anxiety” even from Democrats, addressed the setback to his quest late Friday. CBS anchor Katie Couric spun the bad news for Obama into “a warning” from him about the ominous fate which awaits Americans if he does not succeed.

H/T to Texas Fred . Senator Claire “ACORN” McCaskill’s office fears Tea Party protester’s locks doors, closes blinds and and calls the cops. Can’t McCaskill’s staff stand the heat? No that is obvious. So sorry so…no I am not. McCaskill’s constituents have the First Amendment right. And it seems the cops don’t understand this at all.

Time … to … take … it … slow. Delay, delay, delay. Senator Jon Kyl has it right. Republicans are playing a time game. The longer they push off a vote on Obamacare, the better chance they have to stop it. Every week, it drops in support. Some moderate Democrats are openly voicing opposition. This is all great news. Republicans need to demand the usual open hearings. They need to bring in victims of Canadian healthcare. They need to bring in elderly people to testify.

Republicans, Straighten Up! - carolyntackettscloset.blogspot.com 07/18/2009 Michelle Malkin makes the excellent point that Republicans are falling short in the housekeeping department: The rotten American Conservative Union/David Keene pay-for-play scandal underscores a point I’ve made over and over and over again: The GOP can’t attack the Democrat culture of corruption ( my new book comes out July 27 ) until it cleans its own house first. The John Ensign mess keeps getting worse .

I’m Wondering If the Worm Hasn’t Turned CompletelyI mean, if even the AP is pointing out “NOT so fasts” in their Obamacare reports, there could be a disturbance in the Force, n’est pas?…Obama also repeated his pledge that his plan would not add to the federal deficit or deny patients’ choices.“Under our proposals, if you like your doctor, you keep your doctor. If you like your current insurance, you keep that insurance. Period, end of story,” he said. That’s a pledge, however, beyond Obama’s control.

That’s how the Times is spinning it, but read the fine print. What he actually says is he won’t sign any bill that adds to our deficits over the next decade. The One knows this is a sinkhole in the long run even if it isn’t in the short run — which, per the CBO, it almost certainly is. No worries, though: “I don’t believe that government can or should run health care,” he assures us, ignoring the fact that he once famously said he doesn’t want to run the auto companies … a month after he forced the chairman of GM into early retirement.

According to a July 12th poll taken by Public Policy Polling, Senator Richard Burr had better get his game on if he wants to see another term in the U.S. Senate. While Burr is ahead of his potential Democrat challengers, his approval rating is hovering in the lower forties to mid thirties and he doesn’t poll any higher than 42% of the vote at this point in time.Burr currently has an approval rating of 36% with 29% of state voters holding an unfavorable view of him.

The Obamassiah has promised that “if you like your health plan, you can keep it,” That’s a load of horseshit. If either of the two liberal Obamacare bills in Congress passes, you would be forced to switch to a managed-care plan with limits on your access to unnecessary things like tests and visits to specialists. The socialist mission is to level the playing field when it comes to healthcare consumption. In other words, everybody gets the same coverage, no hogging healthcare because you can afford a better package than say, Joe the wino down on the street corner.

The CBO splashed ice water on Obamacare and one key Democrat noticed. A Congressional Budget Office’s (CBO) report on healthcare was a “devastating blow” to the bill’s prospects, a key centrist Democrat argued Friday. Sen. Ben Nelson (D-Neb.), whose vote will be critical to passing a final healthcare reform bill through the Senate, condemned the House version of the bill, which institutes a surtax on wealthy Americans to finance the $1 trillion bill, as creating “class warfare.” “I think it’s a devastating blow,” Nelson said of the import of the CBO analysis this week that the House healthcare reform proposal would worsen the fiscal situation of the U.S.

If you are upset about how Congress is trying to take over our healthcare system, there are a host of ways to express your views on-line. Here are a few. NCPA has been promoting a “Free our health care now!” ( http://www.freeourhealthcarenow.com/ ) petition that already has 400,000 signers. It also has an “action pack” ( http://actionpack.ncpa.org/ ) so you can spread the word even further.

With the Government mandated contraction of the health care industry, how will the Federal Government decide who receives what medical care? Via The Strata-Sphere : If anyone doubts Obamacare is not just rationing, but rationing based on your pre-existing conditions, here are some eye openers. First, Obamacare relies on cutting health care costs (which means cutting health care services) for the elderly and poor : Obama’s  health care proposal is, in effect, the repeal of the Medicare program as we know it.

By Lisa Richards With the way things are going in Washington and Obama and Pelosi’s Healthcare Bill, we Americans may have to start going to our pet’s vet for treatment. It is after all quicker, cheaper, and the patient receives whatever it takes to save its life. I thought about that yesterday while listening to politicians in both parties discussing the new socialist healthcare Obama is enforcing upon our bodies. On May 28, 2009, my four and a half year-old Rottweiler named Cody suddenly collapsed on his bed into a semi-coma.

It is not that I don’t trust big government with my health care dollar, it is that I don’t trust big government with any of my dollars. I see a record of tired old ideas that have failed to produce the utopian society that they were invented for.  Take education, as an example. We spend more dollars per student than any country in the world, yet our kids can’t read. Why?  Take Medicare as another example. It is a system that is limited to the senior population. Yet, Medicare is broke.

One thing that hasn’t been reported on is just how much of a fantasy the costs are that are being assumed as the Democrats push through the Health Care Takeover. The Democrats are planning that they will pay the providers the same rates plus five percent that they’re paying for services performed by Medicare. Rep. Earl Pomeroy, D-N.D., said Wednesday that he will vote against the health care reform bill when it comes before the House Ways and Means Committee Thursday because it would tie the payment schedule for a new public option insurance plan to existing Medicare payments.

by Scott Creighton You have to give the man credit; Dennis Kucinich is one tenacious son-of-a-bitch. Since Pelosi and the other corrupt representatives in the House have sidelined his single-payer universal health care bill, HR. 676 , and since he knows damn well that this Obamacare fraud, HR 3200, is going to pass, what he has done in good faith is attach a provision to the bill that allows states the option of passing their own single-payer universal health care law.  That provision

Make no mistake: The health care debate going on in Washington is about one thing, and it is not the millions of uninsured Americans. It’s about the Obama administration’s goal of turning this country into a socialist nation. President Barack Obama and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) are pushing Congress to pass the health care overhaul before the August recess, riding roughshod over the protests not only of Republicans, but of some Democrats, many business interests and hospitals.

onenewsnow If you think government is too big and too costly, wait until Obamacare kicks in. The Congressional Budget Office put the price tag of the House Democrats’ healthcare takeover plans at $1.5 trillion over 10 years. But the CBO’s fine print included a telltale caveat: “We have not yet estimated the administrative costs to the federal government of implementing the specified policies, nor have we accounted for all of the proposal’s likely effects on spending for other federal programs.” You don’t need an accounting degree or clairvoyant powers.

The protesters were mostly from various Culture of Life groups, including Life 4 All and KFL , but many signs also focused on the fiscal issues related to health care and other government spending.
