Even dumber than the time he claimed Caterpillar had promised to re-hire workers if the stimulus passed, only to have the CEO tell reporters about five minutes later that the stimulus wouldn’t work fast enough to let them re-hire workers. And the Mayo shall lead us:Although there are some positive provisions in the current House Tri-Committee bill – including insurance for all and payment reform demonstration projects – the proposed legislation misses the opportunity to help create higher-quality, more affordable health care for patients.

Kennedy: Let’s Ration Health Care S en. Kennedy may have helped doom Obamacare. Bill Kristol . And centrist Dems move toward the GOP view? Video: HT HotAir . More from Kristol (emphasis mine): Start Over. We’re not giving up on health reform. Far from it. But the only way to pass health reform is first to get rid of the misbegotten efforts now before Congress. The only way to pass health reform is to start over in the fall. The Obama plan wouldn’t go into effect until 2013 anyway (except the tax increases, which would kick in in 2011).

On July 17th we held a health care protest in Wichita, KS. We thanked our Senators and Congressman who are listening to the taxpayers. That was good but the most compelling story came from my good friend, Wendy Aylworth. She shared a very emotional and compelling story right out of the Horror Annals of the Canadian Health Care system . The story you are about to read didn’t happen ten years ago, it happened this month.

Bad news for Democrats: Republican congressman thinks they should be covered by ObamaCare, too I HATE THE MEDIA In a remarkable case of “Do as I say, not as I do,” Congress will be exempt from whatever ObamaCare plan they foist on the rest of the American people. And one congressman has had the guts to call them on their hypocrisy.

We made one heck of a huge mistake in November, my fellow Americans: The White House is being forced to acknowledge the wide gap between its once-upbeat predictions about the economy and today’s bleak landscape. The administration’s annual midsummer budget update is sure to show higher deficits and unemployment and slower growth than projected in President Barack Obama’s budget in February and update in May, and that could complicate his efforts to get his signature health care and global-warming proposals through Congress.

On Today’s Show… July 20, 2009 Democrats Hurry Up to Pass Subprime Socialized Health Care Don’t give Obama and Pelosi more power. They have no track record of “savings and efficiencies” they promise.  They’ve run up $11T in deficits with failed stimulus. (Rush 24/7 Members:  Listen ) “Remember how they told you it was an affordable mortgage, until they adjusted the rates? Now they promise better health care — until you have to wait for treatment, until you read the fine print.

This week and last we’ve seen some firmer ideas from House Democrats on how they expect to pay for Obamacare and from those ideas it is becoming increasingly, painfully obvious that small businesses will be hit hard with tax increases and this during one of the worst economic downturns in decades. Right when we need economic growth from small business, the backbone of the country, Democrats are making to punish them thereby pushing any economic recovery far off into the future… if at all.

“The Congressional Budget Office has made it clear that the reform plans now being debated will increase overall health-care costs, yet President Obama on Friday repeatedly said that his reform would reduce costs and save Americans money. But no matter how many times he says it, the truth is you will pay more — much more — both in higher taxes and in higher premiums. The final health-care bill is expected to cost more than $1 trillion over the next 10 years.

“With Obamacare on the ropes, there will be a temptation for opponents to let up on their criticism, and to try to appear constructive, or at least responsible. There will be a tendency to want to let the Democrats’ plans sink of their own weight, to emphasize that the critics have been pushing sound reform ideas all along and suggest it’s not too late for a bipartisan compromise over the next couple of weeks or months. My advice, for what it’s worth: Resist the temptation. This is no time to pull punches.

Barack Obama promised an ” Audacity of Hope. ” I worked for him, blogged for him, contributed to him, and cried for joy when he was elected, even as I reminded people in these pages that that his success in bringing transformative change would depend as much on organized popular movements as it would on one man. I remain glad that this brilliant and charismatic man of mixed race is President and wish with all my heart for his success.

A presidential preference poll three years before an election is only slightly more valuable than a copy of the newspaper three Mondays ago, but Rasmussen Reports has just released a very interesting, albeit gossipy poll. “If the 2012 presidential election were held today…” President Obama and Republican Mitt Romney would each receive 45 percent of the vote. Three percent are undecided and 7 percent were support other candidates. Even the much press-maligned Sarah Palin is within shouting distance of Obama.

New poll numbers show that the majority of Americans now oppose Obama’s plan for healthcare reform because of concerns about negative changes to their own healthcare programs if the government option is put in place plus the likelihood of tax hikes on the middle class to pay for it. A new Rasmussen poll from Friday, July 17, 2009 shows that only 35% percent of voters favor the government-run option which is down from 41% from a national poll taken just a few weeks earlier in mid-June .

I have been wondering what Charles Grassley is doing in regards to his efforts with health care reform.  In an opinion piece called “The Grassley Test” I learned that he is the “GOP point man for ObamaCare.”I wish I could find comfort in reading the article. I don’t.Obama is out pushing his bill everywhere and to all the media that are only too happy to put him in front of a camera.

ObamaCare is now caught in a bind of its supporters’ own making. They want universal care and they want government-run care. But they are also insistent on keeping the measure cost-neutral. The only way to manage all this is to ration health care. And now the administration and its allies are stumbling, trying to explain how they are going to do this without scaring the dickens out of voters and lawmakers. So far, they aren’t doing a very good job of concealing their designs.

Challenges to Obama’s Citizenship Grow This  video clip of Rep. Mike Castle (R-DE) responding to allegations that President Obama is not a natural born citizen — and therefore an illegitimate president — is astounding.  Importantly, this doesn’t appear to be an isolated incident. The  Washington Independent says the so-called “birther movement” challenging Obama’s citizenship is actually gaining momentum and increasingly dogging the Republican party.

This is too much, too fast, too soon. Those words–spoken at a speech earlier today by RNC Chairman Michael Steele–make up the GOP’s shiny new talking point on health care reform.According to conservatives, health care reform is moving through Congress too quickly; therefore, we should slow down the already snail-like pace of Congress.Hypocrisy, thy name is GOP.  See, back in 2001–when they were in charge–Republicans had no problem rushing legislation through Congress.More below the fold…Take, for instance, the PATRIOT ACT–a 300-page radical overhaul of America’s national security policies.

It should come as no surprise that ObamaCare will mean we taxpayers get to buy free healthcare for millions of illegal aliens : On Friday, Democrats moved one step closer to giving free health insurance to the nation’s estimated 12 million illegal aliens when they successfully defeated a Republican-backed amendment, offered by Rep. Dean Heller, R-Nev., that would have prevented illegal aliens from receiving government-subsidized health care under the proposed plan backed by House Democrats and President Barack Obama.

To pay for his nationalized healthcare plan, President Obama plans to impose a 5.4 percent on incomes of more than $1 million .  According to the Economist , the President is going to have fewer folks to tax: The wealth of the world’s high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) fell by almost a fifth last year to $33 trillion, according to the 2009 World Wealth Report from Merrill Lynch and Capgemini. A HNWI has at least $1m of assets besides his main home, its contents and collectable items.

Look, I’ll be honest – I’m pro life. But I at least accept that Roe v. Wade is the law of the land. While I’m not expecting it to get overturned any day now, I do expect there to be some realistic boundaries when it comes to abortion. First, off abortion is not birth control or a means of population control for “the unfits” (as dictated by the women’s bc “heroine” Margaret Sanger , our recent crypt keeper on the Supreme Court , and Obama’s Science czar ).

Health policy expert and former Lt. Governor of New York State, Betsy McCaughey has read the bills cover to cover, and wants to get the word out – ObamaCare would be hazardous to your health, especially the elderly’s. Regardless of what the Democrats are saying, they’re taking $500 billion out of the system which means at a time when many more people are going to be cared for – treatments are going to be in short supply, there are going to be longer waits, and fewer nurses on the floor.

Once again, it takes Paul Ryan to weed through the rhetoric and speak the truth about what’s happening in Washington. Paul Ryan talks healthcare on CNBC How can we pay for this? CBO predicts Obamacare will cost nearly $1.6 trillion over the next 10 years! It seems fiscal responsibility isn’t nearly as important as taking over the healthcare industry. The Washington Post has a poll out that states that the president’s approval rate on healthcare has shrunk to less than 50%.

WSJ So much for finding a cure for cancer..or the common cold for that matter Everyone supports “health reform” as an abstract goal, but that mile-wide consensus is an inch deep when it comes to substance. Increasingly, however, most of the major health industry lobbies seem prepared to concede the mile — as long they get their inch. The latest example is the American Medical Association’s unqualified endorsement Thursday of the health bill patched together by House Democrats.

Great video from Shelly Roche of bytestyle.tv. It just blows my mind that THIS is the best they can do. That instead of looking at ways to reduce healthcare costs so more Americans could afford coverage, their knee-jerk reaction is to tax our businesses to help fund their $2 trillion “plan.” I want people to be able to afford healthcare. I just don’t see how that can happen if every move Congress makes increases the burden on our already stressed small businesses (which I believe are the lifeblood and future of this country).

On MSNBC’s Morning Joe today, former Bush chief of staff Andrew Card pushed the conservative line that health care reform needs to be slowed down , calling it “ contrived haste .” “If everything is a haste, haste, haste, there are going to be tremendous unintended consequences,” said Card. Claiming that the Obama administration and congressional Democrats are not seeking a “bipartisan” approach, Card accused the reformers of trying to “bully it through the process” by saying “trust us.” “Don’t trust them,” said Card.

In a recent debate here at Cadillac Tight, a regular commenter argued that Rasmussen poll numbers on ObamaCare were the “outlier,” and don’t reflect the findings of other polls that were being used to support the 70% favorability claim we’ve been hearing for weeks. Well, a new poll by the Washington Post puts that baby to bed. Heading into a critical period in the debate over health-care reform, public approval of President Obama’s stewardship on the issue has dropped below the 50 percent threshold for the first time, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll .

If you’re like me, you are either looking toward your 50th birthday (either with gusto or horror), or you’ve recently celebrated it. If you’re within ten years on either side of that number, be aware that we are a very large segment of the population these days. Oh, we may no longer fit the desirable demographic model , but for many of us, that meant being a member of a club we never really wanted to join, anyway:  So now that I am about to exit the “most desirable” category, well, I guess I am about to become irrelevant.

President Barack Obama has begun a massive media campaign to get the public rallied behind him on health care reform. Unfortunately for him, not even his charisma is working on this issue. The latest survey shows that only forty-nine percent of people questioned in an ABC News/Washington Post survey approve of Obama’s health care policy. Also, as the vote nears and people are getting more attuned to the issue, Obama is losing support. Support for his health care policy is down four points from June, and nine points from three months ago.

by Stephen Lendman July 20, 2009 On February 24, Barack Obama told a joint session of Congress that “we must….address the crushing cost of health care….caus(ing) a bankruptcy in America every thirty seconds. By the end of the year, it could cause 1.5 million Americans to lose their homes. In (each of) the last eight years….one million….Americans have lost their health insurance….Given these facts, we can no longer afford to put health care reform on hold….health care reform cannot wait, it must not wait, and it will not wait another year.” Behind the facade of reform, Obama and leading Democrats ruled universal, single-payer coverage off the table before debate even began.

Released on Wednesday, the poll was glaringly absent from most news reports late last week and over the weekend.

Almost every economic projection created by the Obama administration has been too optimistic. Now the government is hiding the “proof” his revised budget report till Congress goes on recess, supposedly after they vote on his health care bill. When the President first presented his budget, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) projected the 2010 deficit to be 100 billion dollars higher than the Administration.  The CBO was criticized as always using the worst case scenario.
