Barack Obama likes to accuse his critics on health-care reform of proposing nothing in opposition to ObamaCare.  Newt Gingrich and Nancy Desmond run the Center for Health Transformation and have their own response, a six-point plan to reform health care and lower costs, without spending trillions of dollars to do it.  The CHT plan offers some similarities to ObamaCare, and some key differences: Stop Paying the Crooks. First, we must dramatically reduce healthcare fraud within our current healthcare system.

An article from Fortune magazine on CNN Money.com entitled “5 freedoms you’ll lose in health care reform” reports a number of problems with the health care bills if you read the fine print. Five freedoms that Americans would lose under Obamacare: 1. Freedom to choose what’s in your plan 2. Freedom to be rewarded for healthy living, or pay your real costs 3. Freedom to choose high-deductible coverage 4. Freedom to keep your existing plan 5. Freedom to choose your doctors

Yesterday marked the official resignation of Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin.  Speculation still abounds as to the reason behind her abrupt announcement some three weeks ago.  Palin hasn’t been very illuminating for her part.  Some people say that she is resigning because she couldn’t handle the pressure, or she wanted the big money that would come with a speaking tour and a book deal.  I am in the camp that believes she resigned with her eyes on the White House.  I think she has big ambitions and no longer wants to be tied down to the great white north.  I think she wants to hit the speaking tour, make the rounds on Fox News and get out there in the country so people don’t forget her.

For the second time this month, congressional budget analysts have dealt a blow to the Democrat’s health reform efforts, this time by saying a plan touted by the White House as crucial to paying for the bill would actually save almost no money over 10 years.  Full story in Politico here.

Last week Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) held another GOP Whip Team bloggers' conference call. As both candidate and president, the master rhetorician could conjure a world in which he bestows upon you health-care nirvana: more coverage, less cost. But you can't fake it in legislation. Once you commit your fantasies to words and numbers, the Congressional Budget Office comes along and declares that the emperor has no clothes.

Lately, the Mainstream Media (i.e., Democrat Party Communications Team) has been touting Edward "Ted" Otis Norm Foster Brooks Kennedy as the "heart" of decades of Democrat desires to put a health care policy in every pot and a grievance on every tongue. Unfortunately for Conyers, all he did was prove that (a) he’s been in Congress far too long, and (b) Democratic leadership and the White House are rushing legislation when everyone should take their time to understand it.

CNN notes that there are “ 5 freedoms you’d lose in health care reform ” as promoted by the Obama Administration: the freedom to choose your doctors, the freedom to choose what’s in your plan, the freedom to keep your existing plan, the freedom to be rewarded for healthy living, and the freedom to choose high-deductible coverage.

Just when it appeared the Gates story was ready to disappear from the news cycle, a new development has created fresh headlines . President Obama’s strategy to pass sweeping health care legislation rested on stealth and speed. The idea was to fill the conversation for months on end with vague talk about expanding coverage, “bending the cost-curve,” improving quality, and rooting out waste, without showing the public how the plan would actually work or what it would cost. Legislation, meanwhile, would be composed behind closed doors, and the bills would be introduced as close as possible to when they might come up for a vote to minimize the time in which they could actually be read and thought about by those who would vote on them and those who would live under them.

As a strong believer that we really need true, honest health reform in this country, I am disgusted by what Democrats have done with the issue.  First, anyone that disagrees with Barack Obama or Nancy Pelosi clearly ‘hates America’.  Second, they are utilizing every classic 50 year old liberal policy to bring so-called ‘reform’. It is an outrage. Conservatives, as well as liberals, need to compromise on some things on health care.   First, government clearly has a role.

This occurred in the latter part of the 1700s and before becoming president. In his travels he developed methods he used when visiting other countries to determine if life in those countries, which included all aspects such as work habits, ambitions of the people, politics, the court systems, etc., was a good match in what he considered a worthy trade partner with the United States.

Now the Democrats plan to argue that the new health-care system will be so good, that it will be worth spending a lot more money on it, and the savings will magically appear from …. somewhere . As Ed Morrissey points out at the link, wasn’t the entire raison d’etre of ObamaCare that medical costs are bankrupting America? This, despite the fact that one cannot spend their way back into solvency – it simply cannot be done.

A nurse, Catherina Cenzon-DeCarlo, was forced to assist in a late-term , partial-birth abortion procedure at Mt. Sinai hospital on May 24th, even though she was ethically opposed to the procedure, being a devout Catholic and niece to a Filipino bishop.  Invoking the conscience clause (which protects people like her from participating in things like this), she asked to be taken off the procedure.  They did not find a replacement, claiming the mother would die if the nurse did not assist – ultimately she had to choose between her job and participating in the partial-birth abortion.
