Shocking proof Obama was born outside the United States. ( But did Microsoft Word exist in 1961? ) I believe Obama wants to keep the birther story going . The New York Times “house conservative” says : “I feel politically closer to Barack Obama than to House Minority Leader John Boehner.” Hmmm… wonder why they hired him …? Everyone’s watching: Captain Kirk channel Sarah Palin . Even more fun: David Frum (4,700) v. Mark Levin (900,000).

The Democrats’ plan for government health care is stuck in the mud right now. I can’t see it getting through Congress in its present form, but what do I know, I was shocked that cap and trade made it out of the House. Of course that victory appears to be a Pyrrhic one for the left side of the aisle. To calm down nervous Blue Dog Dems, the White House threw a bone at them, but it appears there is nothing there. Or they faked the throw. If you don’t know what I mean, ask your dog.

You cannot listen to a politician talk about healthcare without hearing the phrase “cost cutting.” Problem is: government cannot cut costs, only we can. When you and I use the word “cost,” we mean the sum of all resources – materials, money and men (or women but that sacrifices alliteration) – used to make a product or deliver a service. When Intel, WalMart, or Boeing cuts costs, they consume fewer resources. For healthcare, you and I determine costs by how much service we demand.

Architect of Health Care Takeover Attempts to Appease Lap Dogs with ‘Watered Down’ Offer Washington- As Democrat leaders begin to flail in desperation to revive their flagging healthcare takeover, Baron Hill may have just heard an offer he can’t refuse. Hill and his fellow Blue Dogs have been in negotiations with their party bosses as Nancy Pelosi and Henry Waxman attempt to force their bill to a vote in Congress. Today, Waxman offered Hill a ‘watered-down’ compromise in order to get him on board with his party bosses and leave Indiana families in the rearview mirror.

Socialized Healthcare vs. The Laws of Economics Mises Daily by Thomas J. DiLorenzo The government’s initial step in attempting to create a government-run healthcare monopoly has been to propose a law that would eventually drive the private health insurance industry out of existence. Additional taxes and mandated costs are to be imposed on health insurance companies, while a government-run “health insurance” bureaucracy will be created, ostensibly to “compete” with the private companies.

Eye-rolling quote of the day , During his speech at a National Press Club luncheon, House Judiciary Chairman John Conyers (D-Mich.), questioned the point of lawmakers reading the health care bill. “I love these members, they get up and say, ‘Read the bill,’” said Conyers. “What good is reading the bill if it’s a thousand pages and you don’t have two days and two lawyers to find out what it means after you read the bill?” As Betsy put it, So I guess that the excuse is that, since they can’t read it or understand it, it’s fine just to let the House leaders (who probably haven’t read the whole thing either) reassure you that the whole thing is just fine.

You are right, Pete , that health-care proponents are loath to admit that the problem lies not in their star communicator but in their bill. (Congressional Republicans now point to an astounding 68 House Democrats who have come out in opposition to the bill.) But there is a measure of truth here about Obama’s communication difficulties. He actually has several. First, he has frittered the valuable commodity of the presidency by being everywhere and talking about anything.

For all of the effort to rapidly pass a health-reform bill, one would think that the entire system had collapsed.  However, Gallup polling shows that 83% of Americans consider themselves satisfied with their current insurance plans, and care continues to excel.  The biggest problem is the cost, which has risen substantially — although as the Washington Post pointed out this weekend, that primarily comes from enormous technological leaps in treatment that saves lives.

It’d be nice if conservatives would actually tell the truth about health care. Particularly about abortion in the health care reform bills, which have become the latest conservative flash point. For example, Michael Steele gives us an article entitled: Obamacare Pushes Abortion. He tells us thatThis abortion mandate would not just apply to the Democrats’ government-run “option.” Any private plans that receive taxpayer subsidies to provide coverage to people with low to moderate incomes — and under

End of discussion. Now on to the train wreck that is the Democrat congress and this rush to socialized medicine.Nancy Pelosi and Rahm Emanuel both publicly boasted that the House would pass the bill before the August break. Looks like that ain’t going to happen. Apparently the blue dogs are more stubborn (or more likely expensive) than either of these Marxists anticipated.Harry Reid killed the hope of a rush passage in the senate a week ago.

How Pennsylvania’s tax burden compares with other states In selling his plan to raise taxes to balance the budget, Gov. Ed Rendell has repeatedly emphasized that the state’s personal income tax rate is among the nation’s lowest. But, Pennsylvania has the 11th-highest tax burden in the nation, according to the Tax Foundation. You’re not winning any points with the people by telling us we’re not paying enough in taxes. You’re just encouraging me to move back to South Carolina.

Under the proposed Obamacare Medical System gazillions of dollars will be saved by way of a government bean counter weighing several factors that will determine which treatment is most cost-effective for the system on the whole, as opposed to what is best for the life of the patient being treated. People who engage in self-destructive habits and lifestyles can be expected to have the accoutrements that support their lifestyle to be heavily taxed. We have already seen taxes on tobacco products raised even higher.

Liberal hopes for a quick health care bill are in collapse, as Senate Democrats push any floor action off until the fall, a move House Democrats may match this week. But if the Obama White House is upset that their plans for a huge expansion of government health care have been delayed, they surely cannot complain about the media coverage. Last week, a new study by the Media Research Center’s Business & Media Institute (BMI) found broadcast coverage during the first six months of 2009 tilted heavily in favor of Barack Obama’s big government plan.

This entire debate is NOT about health care… It’s about Power and Control . So I was just thinking… and I’m not a lawyer, but I do happen to have a pocket constitution. May I ask: Why is it just accepted that Congress even has the right to vote for themselves into LAW so much power over the health, into the privacy, and with deciding power over the lives of the American people ? Has anyone pondered this?

Right now President Obama is attending a town hall meeting being held by the AARP. If Obamacare is enacted, they can change the AARP name to AARIP. As I have repeatedly stated there are no cost saving measures in the health care reform bill which will eventually force everyone to be part of the government program as the costs rise.  The one exception will be the President and Congressional members. We have already seen what happens here at home.  Romneycare has increased insurance premiums by 50%

According to Scrappleface, the Republicans have proposed  an amendment to the Obamacare bill in Congress. They want to cover an affliction that usually affects people about halfway through the second term of a President. They become weary of the incumbent and react with increased depression and resentment to his very appearance. Thus, after six years of Clinton, there was palpable “Clinton fatigue.” After six years of Bush, “Bush fatigue” became widespread.

by Ben Stein, in The American Spectator Why is President Barack Obama in such a hurry to get his socialized medicine bill passed? Because he and his cunning circle realize some basic truths: The American people in their unimaginable kindness and trust voted for a pig in a poke in 2008. They wanted so much to believe Barack Obama was somehow better and different from other ultra-leftists that they simply took him on faith. They ignored his anti-white writings in his books.

NC Sez:  Because 20 million have no health care insurance Obama wants to steal the best health care on planet earth and force rationed care on all of us.  Let’s not keep mixing apples with oranges and calling it the same.  Health Care IS NOT Health Insurance. By now you’ve heard the pitch for universal health care that Democrats are trying to saddle the American public with. The premise is that 46 million Americans are without health care, and that “ObamaCare” will rectify that problem by extending taxpayer-funded health care to every man, woman, and child in the country. For starters, the premise is wrong.

There’s more to ObamaCare than skyrocketing taxes, waiting lists, rationing, and substandard care. A takeover of the healthcare system by left-wing bureaucrats will also mean more of this : A New York nurse claims she was forced to choose between her religious convictions and her job when Mount Sinai Hospital ordered her to assist in a late-term abortion against her will. The hospital even exaggerated the patient’s condition and claimed the woman could die if the nurse, a devout Catholic, did not follow orders, the nurse alleges in a lawsuit.

The New York Times’ Paul Krugman is a Nobel Prize-winning economist and staunch champion of government medicine a la the Canadian model of our neighbors to the north.  Just this past Saturday in ” Toyota, Moving Northward ” he flogged the advantages of the single-payer system Canada offers.  He postulated that one reason why the Japanese auto maker is locating it’s new RAV4 plant in Ontario is their government medicine: Canada’s other big selling point is its national health insurance system, which saves auto manufacturers large sums in benefit payments compared with their costs in the United States.

July 28th, 2009 In a town where everyone is trying to find the funds to pay for President Obama’s ambitious effort to reform healthcare — currently estimated to cost $1 trillion over the next 10 years –  it was probably inevitable that someone would zero in on plastic surgery.Americans spend a bundle every year on face-lifts, tummy tucks, breast implants, nose jobs, hair plugs and the like. In fact, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery says we cough up about $12.4 million a year on cosmetic procedures.

Economists love nothing more than curling up in front of a fireplace with a financial analysis of government policy, allowing the numbers to wash over them like a John Updike novel — or in this administration, more like a Stephen King horrorfest.  For the rest of us, though, the numbers and calculations can prove daunting.  Keith Hennessey puts the CBO’s latest killer analysis of the House health-care reform bill into graphic form, where everyone can be horrified equally. For a baseline demonstration

Political Cartoon by Michael Ramirez Not a very good poll number for President Obama and his health care reform boondoggle called Obamacare. At this time, voters are skeptical about the ability of the reform effort to help control the cost of health care. Just 23% believe passage of the reform legislation will lead to lower health care costs. Most voters (53%) say it will lead to higher costs, while 18% expect prices to remain about the same.

Since more than a few readers have taken issue with our use of the term “socialized medicine” in reference to the ongoing national health care debate, we figured that we should explain what we mean a bit more succinctly. First of all, it’s not something we heard parroted on FOX News because we don’t watch FOX News … or any cable news network for that matter. Seriously, people. TV is scripted, sanitized babble. Watch it for too long and your head will explode.
