After the beer summit, President Obama, Sergeant Crowley, and Professor Gates all walked out of the White House together. Well sort of together. Of all the aspects of the socialized medicine legislation making its way through Congress, the most disturbing piece of it (which is saying a a great deal considering all the freedoms that will be taken away from us) is the taxpayer funding of abortion on demand (a ban of which has been a bi-partisan policy for decades). Prostate cancer huh? May I suggest you just get it cauterized! Connecticut Sen. Christopher Dodd said Friday that he has been diagnosed with an early stage of prostate cancer and will have surgery in early August, but the prognosis is good and the illness will not affect his plans to seek a sixth term next year. Dodd said the cancer was detected in June during his annual physical and the results were confirmed by a biopsy.

Where in the world will Canadians go for their healthcare if Obamacare gets passed? We’ve been stressing over the progress of this bill as it continues to be discussed and debated upon. We’ve been keeping the phone-lines of Washington busy. But of that impending doom of hardcore socialism known as Obamacare, I think I’ve come up with an easier and more productive solution.

We’ve said it more or less nonstop for the past year: retail sales are in the toilet and have shown very little signs of recovery. And in an economy that is 70% consumer spending, that is bad, bad news. So, what have retailers done to spur sales? They’ve really scraped the bottom of the barrel this time, launching the biggest “Christmas in July” promotion in memory. Perhaps store props of Santa sitting in a beach chair are exactly what the American consumer needs to convince him to open his wallet again.

Don’t worry, they weren’t dragged out but rather, er, “bamboozled” by cops into leaving the office voluntarily. Even so, file this away with Politico’s story about Democratic “town halls gone wild” as further evidence of rising anger about The One’s signature program. I can’t tell for sure if the concern here is that the current plans for health-care reform go too far or not far enough — it sounds like the latter — but either way it’s a sweet peg for Gallup’s new poll on how seniors are the age group that’s most skeptical of ObamaCare.

A couple of columns re: Obamacare. The first is the usual excellent analysis by Charles Krauthammer, who describes a process of devolution that I have posted about, as well. I agree with Krauthammer that there will be something that Obama can call health reform that will be passed by Congress this fall. The Democrats are not going to throw Obama’s administration under the bus by denying him his signature political issue.

News has broken today that Connecticut Democratic Senator Chris Dodd, Acting Chairman of the powerful Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee has been diagnosed with early-stage prostate cancer. Our best wishes and hopes for speedy treatment and a successful recovery of course go out to him. We wonder, though, how Senator Dodd, who is 65 years of age, would fare under provisions contained within several of the health care reform proposals or bills currently circulating in the halls of Congress.

Rudy Giuliani was a guest on the Hannity show last night. They talked about the healthcare proposal (or Obamacare as Hannity would call it) as well as the White House Beer Summit. When Hannity began speaking about how Obama handled the Gates incident and the possible lessons that could have been learned, Rudy had a response for Obama: “He’s actually right, it is teachable. Deloris Nissen, 78, of Carroll, Iowa is so upset with Obama on TV constantly that she decided to sell both of her TV’s. Read more about her justifiable frustration below. Being a senior citizen myself, I can certainly appreciate Deloris Nissen’s anger and disgust at having to see Barack Hussein Obama on television almost 24/7.
