The Nazi Party is outlawed in Germany so we do not think it is in any position to assert its rights to this image, which seems to describe Barack Obama’s health care plan–cuts in Medicare, rationing of health care according to a “complete life” standard, and so on more and more every day. BY: The Arch City Madman With my professional position I have had a lot of interaction over the years with Canadian citizens – mostly residents of Ontario. The uninformed people that buy the government line that “hey, my healthcare if paid for!” forget that they pay both a provincial (PST) and governmental (GST) tax on all the goods and services they purchase. Sometimes these taxes can be upwards of 15% not including the high income tax. They pay alright, just not upfront.

What great symbolism. The nickname perfectly ties gov. healthcare insurance  to other gov. run success stories.  A Proposal  - The Austrian Economists Steve Horwitz Aug 1, 2009 9:36 AM 1 person liked this Should ObamaCare pass, I hereby propose a name for the new “government insurance program,” which I’m sure will be as actuarially sound as Social Security: “Freddie Med.”  I’m also sure that Freddie Med will be as successful in improving medical care as Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae were in improving the US housing market, not to mention the entire macroeconomy.

I know, Rush said “Obamacare” was bad. But it’s a public option . It’s not mandatory. What we have now will still exist, if it can compete. And unless you own stock in Kaiser or Aetna, why care what happens to the healthcare industry? A bunch of board members and CEOs making hundreds of millions a year. Cut them out of your 401k. Fuck ‘em. Doctors, nurses, drug makers, and hospitals will still get paid. And if the public option tanks, the current option remains.

Reform Is Essential Health care reform is essential not only because our current health care system is broken as far as the health of the American people (we rank below every other western country in health care outcomes and we rank 50th in life expectancy) but because our current system will eventually bankrupt our entire economy if we don’t change it.The US Spends More $ For Less Results The US spends more on health care than any other nation in the world (by a large amount) and when considering our less than stellar health care outcomes & life expectancy that’s even more disturbing. The Health Insurance Industry Is The Problem The problem is the health insurance industry.

The Hoover Institute has a nice piece on some of the confusion about American Health Care .  I recommend everyone read the article, posted here .  But here is some outlines: Americans have better survival rates than Europeans for common cancers. Americans have lower cancer mortality rates than Canadians. Americans have better access to treatment for chronic diseases than patients in other developed countries. Americans have better access to preventive cancer screening than Canadians.

JOHN CONYERS - TOO STUPID OR LAZY TO READ! Michigan DemonRat Congressman John Conyers has a lot going for him. Not only is he married to a vicious ghetto Detroilet City Councilwoman who was recently convicted of corruption, he is also incredibly stupid and unqualified for public office too. This week, Conyers made a statement so stupid, so devoid of respect for the office he holds, it illustrates the complete lack of honor and intellect in him and DemonRats in general.

I shared my general thoughts on the matter in my last post on this HERE. That was in response to an annoying rant by Ace of Spades HQ blogger Gabriel Malor. Now, Ace himself chimes in on the story by linking to the excellent article by Andy McCarthy, to which I linked in my post. Ace’s tone and reasoning is much better, in my opinion, for which I am thankful. I really was worrying that place was starting to turn into another HotAir, where the bloggers show utter contempt for their readers.

When I was a nurse sometimes another nurse would confide in me that Dr. So-and-So was having such a rough time financially. I would usually reply with something along the lines of, “He drives a Lexus except when he drives the Jag or the Beemer. He dresses better for work than I have ever dressed in my life. And Lindsay says he lives in Monarch Bay Estates and you know it takes more than a million to get through that gate. If you‘re going to worry about someone, why not focus on your patients.” Doctors always talk poor.

From the White House Blog comes this picture of President Obama, Professor Henry Louis Gates Jr., and Sergeant James Crowley leaving the Oval Office after meeting to discuss the sergeant’s arrest of the professor.  Or, I expect more accurately, to discuss the firestorm of commentary after and the president’s dumb comments about the sergeant and his police department. From American Thinker , comes this commentary and a metaphor for the president’s health care reform plan drawn from the picture: As some AT commentators point out, this picture becomes a metaphor for ObamaCare.

The hate mongering left always has to create a villain. They tried to make you hate your doctors to push you into passing Obamacare but that didn’t work. So now they’re telling us that all healthcare problems are caused by the greedy insurance companies. We’re supposed to hate them because they make a profit. (It wasn’t that long ago that profits were considered a good thing in America.) Only problem is, the majority of people are happy with their health insurance so this approach probably won’t gain much traction.

The nation is coming of age politically this year. It is shedding its naive ‘follow the experts’ mentality that had us a nation of drones listening with awe to the talking heads (media and pols) who saturated the air waves since the days of World War II. With control over the message the nation the political industrial complex - made up of politicians, their media lackeys, the media’s preferred list of expert opinion makers and the power brokers behind the scenes pulling all the strings - basically had the nation under a trance.

Via the Right Scoop, libertarianism 101 from last night’s “20/20.” Not the most balanced piece on health care that you’ll ever see, but Stossel probably figures that if he’s going to get frozen out of ABC’s Obama infomercials, he ought to make his few minutes of screen time count. The lottery bit is my favorite, although I was disappointed that the part about how ObamaCare is a stealth single-payer program relied only on pundits and economists for that assertion.

By Ben Cerruti According to the 2008 report by the board of trustees for Medicare and Social Security, Medicare will spend more than it brings in from taxes that year (2008). The Medicare hospital insurance trust fund will become insolvent by 2019. This is not a surprise. Every program in which government has injected itself has ever been able to support itself financially. Take Social Security, a Ponzi scheme look alike, will start to run a deficit in 11 years and is predicted to be bankrupt in 2037.

I have been debating whether or not to talk about this, because in one respect it is a little embarrassing. No one wants to admit that there are times in their lives where they were living not only paycheck to paycheck, but sometimes day to day… and even with that to remember that they were still financially better off than many others. But as this health care debate has continued, and as the idea of a public option has been debated (and single-payer unfortunately dismissed), I have thought of how my own life and story highlight both the need for a social responsibility for healthcare and how someone might end up without insurance.

This zinger of a gotcha moment comes via Chip Hanlon at Red County , courtesy of the lefty group “Single Payer Action.” As Chip points out, the video proves that President Obama’s statement made on July 30th, that “nobody is talking about some government takeover of healthcare,” is a “big, fat whopper”: So, apparently the folks at a group called Single Payer Action are devoted to the idea of instituting a Canadian-style, single-payer system of health care in the United States.

From the Washington Post:A campaign on conservative talk radio, fueled by President Obama’s calls to control exorbitant medical bills, has sparked fear among senior citizens that the health-care bill moving through Congress will lead to end-of-life “rationing” and even “euthanasia.”The controversy stems from a proposal to pay physicians who counsel elderly or terminally ill patients about what medical interventions they would prefer near the end of life and how to prepare instructions such as

Former Bush economic adviser Keith Hennessey got an e-mail from Barack Obama this week.  Oh, it wasn’t to ask Hennessey for better advice than Obama gets at the moment, which wouldn’t be difficult to beat.  The e-mail came from Obama’s campaign staff, who apparently remain employed eight months after Obama won the election as some sort of stimulus package, and it explained the need for ObamaCare in a spam attack on millions of inboxes.   Hennessey gives a virtual “reply all” to explain why ObamaCare

Health Care in Crisis Part 3 of 5: Overmedicating America Viewpoint July 28, 2009 In the U.S. today, doctors are too quick to prescribe drugs that their patients don’t really need and often can’t afford, writes Ed Wallace By Ed Wallace Editor’s Note: This is Part Three of a five-part series on the health-care crisis. I’ve been trying to unravel this confusing amendment/s on abortion mandates for the current healthcare bill in the House of Representatives (HR 3200). This is coming out of the House Energy and Commerce Committee (I also don’t know why an Energy and Commerce committee would be voting on this), there’s significant sleight of hands happening here which is why this got confusing.Found a nutshell version from Hot Air (Allahpundit):Last night, led by pro-life Dem Bart Stupak, Waxman’s committee passed an amendment barring any mandate in ObamaCare for private insurers to pay for abortions.

First, let me just say that there is far more stimulus in the cash for clunkers $1 billion program than there is in the entire $1 trillion non-stimulus stimulus boondoggle. That’s because money actually goes back to people, rather than just spending nebulous enterprises. For whatever reason, the government is shocked that people actually use money when you give it back to them. In all of 4 days, the $1 billion in the cash for clunkers program, which is essentially a vehicle trade-in worth $4,500 towards the purchase of a news car, is all but completely drained.

To Socialists, private enterprise is evil and must be stopped. Absorbed into the obama collective, taken over, regulated until all that was good about the business has been killed. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, one of the main socialist vipers in Washington, has been in the spotlight recently as the main snake oil salesman. Now she’s demonizing the private businesses in a snake-oil-salesman effort to sell obamacare. It’s shameful for a politician to say the outrageous things that she’s let loose with over the past few days.
ObamaCare Funds Abortion - popgun.wordpress.com

ObamaCare will probably fund abortion . Whether you believe that abortion is moral or not, still, abortion is an elective surgery . Elective surgery has no place in a government funded and run health care system that will be rationing care . Save the money that would pay for those abortions, and apply it to the health of the elderly that this plan will short-change. There’s something sick about this “health care” plan.

According to Don Johnson of The Health Care Blog: Speculators seem to be betting that a watered down health insurance reform bill won#8217;t hurt health insurers, hospitals, drug makers or medical device and supply manufacturers. Stocks for almost all of these health sectors and for exchange trade funds that track health stock indexes turned higher last week. In other words, those with real money at stake don#8217;t believe that health reform will hurt the firms that make a living off of America#8217;s highly inefficient health sector #8212; President Obama#8217;s assurances notwithstanding.
