This is Super Fantastic and will serve mankind far better than Obamacare… Manolo says, since the government is giving away the free money to the car buyers , perhaps it is time for the shoe industry to lobby for their own subsidy. Thus the Manolo proposes the Cash for Clogs program. Turn in your old Croc for destruction and receive the $10 gift certificate for the purchase of the new pair of beautiful shoes.

Almost twenty years ago I hurt my back and sustained injuries to both arms that left me with what’s known as neuropathic pain . We all know what pain from an injury feels like. But if you’re fortunate, you don’t know—and will never have to learn from personal experience—what neuropathic pain is like. Nerves ordinarily conduct pain impulses when tissues are damaged, but that sort of pain corresponds to the degree of injury and is time-limited. Once healing occurs, the pain (or almost all of it) goes away.

Sustainability is a compelling concept these days, although it always seems to be applied to people’s private choices. Meanwhile, everybody knows the federal government has committed to an unsustainable flow of future expenditures. The promises the federal government already has made for Social Security and health care cannot possibly be met. If our legislators took the concept of sustainability seriously, Congress would be looking for ways to cut back on government programs, not add more.

Back in November 2004, Obama was on the radio, talking about the whole process of legislation with a lunatic kook fringe host, Randi Rhodes: OBAMA: When you rush these budgets that are a foot high and nobody has any idea what’s in them and nobody’s read ‘em. KOOK FRINGE HOST: Fourteen pounds, it was! OBAMA: Yeah. And it gets rushed through without any clear deliberation or debate, then these kinds of things happen, and I think that this is in some ways what happened to the Patriot Act.

U.S. banks may need to boost reserves for potential losses on home-equity loans under guidance issued by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. as property prices slump from their peak in 2006. The regulator, in a letter today to banks and examiners, urged lenders to consider issues such as whether borrowers’ total housing debt exceeds the value of their properties and whether homeowners’ first mortgages have been reworked when determining allowances for losses on the debt - Bloomberg Colonial BancGroup Inc., the ailing Alabama lender that raised doubt about its survival last week, received a search warrant from regulators tied to the U.S.

[Posted by Karl] The HuffPo’s Nico Pitney reports on the Left’s counter-productive campaign for ObamaCare in Nebraska: Senator Ben Nelson (D-Neb.) lashed out Friday at the ads being run against his position on health care reform in his home state, saying they would backfire — and might even derail the entire reform process.

Promoted by Erick. What the heck is an “anti-reform” protestor. No, it is “anti-Obamacare” protestor. Politico , ever the objective source of political news and analysis, has provided a handy list of “5 Things to Watch During the Recess.” One in particular caught my attention because it was so egregiously loaded with bias: #4: Who Will Come to the Tea Parties? Anti-reform protesters, many of them veterans from the winter and spring tea party protests, are promising to swamp Democrats’ districts with a wave of anti-reform protest over the recess.

Senator Specter and Secretary Sebelius facilitated a town-hall discussion in PA, to discuss health care reform. They received a ‘Julius and Ethel Rosenberg’ reaction from attendees. If this is a sample of the broader reaction Congressman and Senator’s are receiving while on summer recess…ObamaCare may be dead by September. Click here to view the embedded video.

No wonder Barack Obama delayed the release of the budget numbers after the second quarter. The Associated Press took a look at the revenue side, and it’s disastrous. Revenue continues to fall far short of expectations, which means that the budget deficits predicted will expand even further:The recession is starving the government of tax revenue, just as the president and Congress are piling a major expansion of health care and other programs on the nation’s plate and struggling to find money to

Questions to ask your Senators and Representative about ObamaCare August 3, 2009 Dear Lee, My friend Gary Bauer has proposed some questions for you to ask your Senators and Representative about ObamaCare. I’m asking all AFA supporters to get a group together and go to your Senators and Representative offices and ask these questions. Most Senators and Representatives have Townhall meetings in their district during their August break. Get the schedule and attend the meetings.

New AFL-CIO Chief Vows Renewed Attacks on Business - theunionlabelblog.com 08/03/2009 According to Politico, the new president of the AFL-CIO, Richard Trumka, is saying that under his leadership the union will relaunch its attacks on business and push harder for the Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA). Trumka claims that unions were “outmaneuvered” so far on the debate on the EFCA.

Just focus on what President Barack Obama and Democrats are saying now, right? That’s what they’d like us to do, forget their past rhetoric as they ramrod a health care bill, that many members of Congress have no intention on reading, through Congress. Hey words matter right? Now who was it that said that ? HT: The Iowa Republican

The $1 billion dollar cash for clunkers program that was supposed to last until October is already out of money. It only took a week to blow through the $1 billion. The people who came up with this are the same people who are saying that Obamacare will only cost $1 trillion over ten years. That sure gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling about Obamacare.Another thing that bugs me about this stupid program is all the good used cars that will be taken off the roads, while a lot of the real clunkers, that are about all “the poor” can afford, are still out there. In case you haven’t seen this video, here’s a perfectly good Volvo “clunker” being destroyed.

What’s Wrong With a Single-Payer System? – The Conversation Blog – NYTimes.com This article from the NY Times written by David Brooks and Gail Collins gives us something to think about regarding health-care reform. Before we let the politicians convince us to accept an expensive program that will ultimately cater to the insurance companies and other big-business lobbyists, we should look at creating a health-care system that would be answerable to the American people.

Judging from the video below, Sen. Arlen Specter will think before attending anymore town halls. One woman pointed out that Medicaid, Medicare and social security are broke and asked why the American people should turn over 1/7 of our economy to an administration who can’t even handle Cash for Clunkers. Needless to say she received plenty of applause. Specter wasn’t fortunate. We’re not even in to the August break and things are really heating up.

Town Hall metting with HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius and Senator Arlen Specter at the National Constitution Center in Philly on August 2nd, 2009. Close to 1,000 people showed up for Arlen Specter and Kathleen Sebilius’ Obamacare Town Hall. ACORN and SEIU had their drones there. ACORN continues to embarass itself by exploiting amputees and handicapped people to further their cause. It was actually very sad to see because you felt bad for them because of their misfortune and you also felt bad for them because they were totally unaware that they were merely props for ACORN to exploit.

House Republican Leader John Boehner’s office has released a new video mocking President Obama for seemingly dispensing medical advice: Like the old joke goes, President Obama isn’t a doctor, but he plays one on TV — giving Americans a discomforting glimpse of life under ObamaCare, with government leaders and bureaucrats dispensing medical opinions that are better left to doctors, medical professionals, and patients.

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius and Senator Arlen Specter (D-PA) I think are getting a taste of things to come for Members of Congress who hold town halls on this subject of health care reform. You know it isn’t like Philly is a conservative stronghold. Where’s the brotherly love? Not feeling it. Fox News reports : Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius and Sen. Arlen Specter got a preview Sunday of the tough sell lawmakers will face over health care as audience members booed and jeered them during a town hall meeting in Philadelphia.

This will not help his arguments one bit. Obama, in this clearly states, that he wants a single payer. Wonder if anyone in the media is brave enough to ask what he meant? Doubt it . This comes with improving poll numbers . No, not for Mr. Obama, or Democrats …but for the American Health care system! Congressman Lloyd Doggett (D-Austin), according to others, asked his constituents to come out and “bend his ear” on the so-called attempt to “reform” health, which President Obama has been lobbying for in the past month or so. Dear Zack, In this letter you told Nancy Pelosi that you couldn’t support the Obamacare bill if it wasn’t budget neutral. Yet you violated your commitment and voted for the bill on Friday, July 31st. Obamacare is anything but budget-neutral. It obliterates the budget. Douglas Elmendorf, director of the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, said bills crafted by House leaders and the Senate health committee do not propose “the sort of fundamental changes” necessary to rein in the skyrocketing cost of government health programs, particularly Medicare.

The FDA is now moving towards banning a smoking alternative that could save many lives. Every year, millions of smokers like my wife try and fail to quit, because they are nicotine addicts. Many later die of smoking-related illnesses, which are caused by the smoke, not the nicotine. The obvious solution is to give smokers access to less hazardous products that provide the nicotine they crave without the deadly smoke, like chewing tobacco, or, better yet, electronic cigarettes or snus .

Not too long ago, a man in the UK pulled 13 of his own teeth rather than live in agony because the National Health Service didn’t have a dentist to treat his chronic teeth problems. His fellow Brits won’t have the option of using a pliers on their backs after the most recent rationing decision by the NHS. In order to save £33 million ($55.6 million), the British single-payer system will no longer give cortisone shots for nonspecific back pain despite the effectiveness of the treatment:The

If anyone questioned why Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi wanted to get a health-care reform bill passed before the August recess, the following videos will explain it clearly. In three town-hall meetings with Democratic denizens of Capitol Hill, crowds reacted angrily to a government takeover of health care. In the first, Rep. Keith Ellison moves through the crowd in his very liberal district taking comments — but not answering any of his constituents’ questions (via Janet at SCSU Scholars):The reaction in this clip is almost universally negative, and downright hostile.

A chilling look into the catastrophic effect a single-payer system can inflict on an individual! Ed Morrissey writes : We knew it would come to this when Oregon insisted on passing its assisted-suicide laws. It doesn’t take much for assisted suicide to go from a humane option to a cost-saving device, especially when the state pays for the medical care. One patient in Oregon got a letter that made this all too clear, when in the same letter rejecting her request for life-extending chemotherapy, Oregon offered her “physician-aid-in-dying”.

Bill Clinton is set to attack Republicans in a fascinating fundraising email that will go out later this morning for the DCCC — it evokes the GOP’s successful defeat of his health care plan in the 1990s, and links it to current GOP efforts to kill Obamacare, saying of Republicans: “They’re at it again.” Friend – It seems like the 1993 health care debate all over again. Back then, I led the charge for comprehensive health insurance reform.

No matter what you hear, remember this: “When the government finances something, it ends up managing it.” I never tire of reminding people about the dangers and serious inadequacies of the single payer plan, mainly because it goes against everything that we know works in America. It goes against states being laboratories for what works for them. It goes against competition. It goes against choice. It goes against freedom. And what do they have in response? Its all about profit. Its messy.

There is good reason for Obama, the Democratic House leadership, and the media cheerleaders of nationalized health care were rooting to wrap up health-care reform before the August recess. Via Powerline , we get a glimpse of the problem: an eye-opening video of a town hall with Sen. Arlen Specter. Voters are enraged that lawmakers aren’t reading the 1,000-page bill – and are even more enraged at Specter for suggesting this has to be done fast.

Judd Apatow was going to be on the cover of Time this week (and he’s still in the issue for his latest film Funny People ), but health care is on the tip of everyone’s tongue so the funnyman got subbed out for President Obama in a lab coat. It’s entirely possible that if we picked up this issue of Time we’d learn nearly everything we need to know, or could stand to know, about the ongoing health care debate.
