It doesn’t look like the fearless Rep George Miller (CD-7) plans any live face to face Town Hall meetings during Congressional recess. He’s been staring into cameras while standing behind nut job Pelosi straining to be seen for so long he must have forgotten his more important job is to face the People, not the cameras. I just went through the death of both my parents. I saw how they deteriorated for nearly a year. It was very hard, obviously mostly for them but we too felt a portion of their emotional pain. Fortunately, neither Mom or Dad were in a lot of continuous pain. I can just imagine how trying that would be. In fact, if you wanted to get rid of a patient (non-tax paying/retired citizen) then a very effective way would be to withhold their pain medication and force them every five years to be counseled on end of life options.

A bit of courage can go a long way : Rep. Anh “Joseph” Cao, (R-New Orleans), the first Vietnamese-American congressman and a Catholic, announced this past weekend that, because of the “stealth mandate” for abortion still present in the Health Care bill, he prefers to “save his soul” rather than vote in favor of it. Cao, the only member of the Louisiana House delegation who had not weighed in on where he stands on the health reform bill, told the Times-Picayune on Saturday that he cannot support any bill that permits public money to be spent on abortion.

When candidate Obama promised, over and over again, not to raise taxes on the “middle class” it was a clear warning sign to business and industry; a sign that was totally ignored by millions, that he was about to wage a personal war against the free enterprise system. At the same time as Obama was preparing for this war he displaying his total ignorance of how the government and the economy work.

So you know about Cash for Clunkers, the federal program with which you can trade a qualifying used vehicle for a $3,500 or $4,500 credit toward a qualifying new vehicle. The alleged economic benefit is, in a general sense, the same old game of taking some water from the deep end of a swimming pool and pouring it in the shallow end .  (And hey, let’s jack consumer debt up in a recession!)  Redistributing taxpayer money (that really doesn’t exist anyway after the government has it, if we’re going to get, you know, technical about what deficit spending is) is hardly sound practice for long-term prosperity.

Baron Hill will be in Corydon today for at least two “constituent” events. The Chamber of Commerce is hosting a closed-door “Q&A” lunch with him at Magdalena’s Restaurant downtown from 12:00 noon to 1:15. It’s not clear if the public can attend, or just Chamber members. At 3:45 p.m., he is having a meeting with doctors and medical staff at the Harrison County Hospital. It’s small group meetings all the way, it seems, so that Baron doesn’t have to face the dissatisfaction of his constituents in a genuine town hall.

No End In Sight - During the Bush administration, we heard a lot from Democrats about “record budget deficits,” a myth which really only became true after they took overwhelming majorities in the House and Senate. Now, those “record” deficits of the Bush years look like fiscal paradise. There is a bubbling revolt happening right now in this country against card check, cap & trade, Obamacare, and a host of other left-wing initiatives.

Democracy can be a dangerous thing … for incumbents who pass bad policy, or even attempt to defend it. Jim Hoft at Gateway Pundit and Doug Ross have the latest evidence of this, a town-hall meeting on ObamaCare in Ohio’s 1st CD, represented by Democrat Steve Dreihaus. In this case, Dreihaus has even more to explain after winning his seat on a claim of fiscal conservatism, as Dreihaus also voted for cap-and-trade, which will make Ohio’s coal industry vanish along with hiking energy costs on his constituents.

People are madder than Hell and they’re letting their representatives know about it in a large way.  But so oblivious are they to reality that the reps still don’t get it, even when their noses are rubbed in it…  for instance, feed your orbs on this quote from Congressman Lloyd Doggett: “This mob, sent by the local Republican and Libertarian parties, did not come just to be heard, but to deny others the right to be heard.
