NOTE: For the second time in two months, the Mongiardo campaign has sent out an email blast to its subscribers twice in the same day. The first time with the subject “Master Template” and the second with the headline “Mongiardo Wins Fancy Farm!” All right for having your zero control of campaign messaging. Daniel Mongiardo’s latest email blast may be a grammatical nightmare, but let’s take a look at the content of his message.

Sen. BondWASHINGTON — It came as no surprise when Sen. Christopher “Kit” Bond declared moments ago that he would support President Obama’s choice of Sonia Sotomayor to become a Supreme Court justice.Bond, R-Mo., decried the effects of partisanship “infecting” the political system and said that nothing had emerged in Senate hearings that cast doubt on her capacity to serve on the high court. If Republicans want conservative justices, he said, then they need to work harder to win presidential elections. Here is a text of Bond’s remarks delivered before Sotomayor’s confirmation:“Mr.

By Alan Caruba on August 05th, 2009 Obama’s Big Lie: “Green” JobsIf there is one thing Americans began to rapidly conclude following his inauguration in January, it is that President Barack Obama lies all the time and that those lies are often blatant. In pursuit of the “Cap-and-Trade” act that is a huge tax on all energy use in America, Obama’s favorite mantra is that massive subsidies to wind and solar energy producers, as well as biofuel producers, will generate millions of new “green” jobs.

Why Are People in Revolt? The approval ratings on nearly every one of the President’s key policy initiatives—cap-and-trade, health care overhaul, government take over of industry and finance, deficit spending, stimulus—are already less than half of polled voters. Obama’s own popularity has fallen dramatically and hovers near fifty percent. A number of well-publicized town meetings have erupted in shouting, as administration and congressional representatives try, often in condescending fashion, to explain the Obama agenda.

That’s what BusinessRockford.com Editor Annette LaCross says: Either people are strongly for or against the so-called cap-and-trade bill. Under the American Clean Energy and Security Act, greenhouse gas emissions from factories, refineries and power plants would be limited, lowering emissions 17 percent from 2005 levels by 2020 and 83 percent by 2050. The Congressional Budget Office estimates this will cost U.S.

The statists in power in Washington can’t handle a citizenry that asks hard questions (when the media won’t), reads the Constitution (when federal judges won’t), and examines legislation ( when members of Congress won’t ). The statists in power, currently Democrats across the board in Washington but come in all parties and sizes, can’t deal with opposition that speaks its mind in public. They can’t deal with large number of citizens who band together to form a movement when the political parties fail to obey the law of the land.

National Ag News for August 4, 2009 Sponsored by the American Farm Bureau Federation “Ag Spending Bill Approved by Senate” The Senate has approved a 124.5-billion dollar ag spending bill. The measure was approved 80 to 17 Tuesday. The House passed its version in July. As Senators debated ag spending on Monday they broke with the President who wanted to eliminate the agriculture department’s High Energy cost Grant Program. This program provides money for electricity generation projects in places such as Indian reservations, rural cooperatives and, especially, Alaska.

Obama has declared the program a “success.” But what does that mean? Consider:Congress authorized $1 Billion for the program, and expected it to last until November. It didn’t make it past the first week of August. This is an important thing to consider when considering the President’s own spending and deficit projections. That first Billion was supposed to be a one-time “shot in the arm” for the economy. Now there is panic over the “need” to expand it for another $2 Billion. Government

Megan McArdle has written another post on obesity, responding among other things to some of the points raised by Ezra Klein and to those raised here . I’m going to just respond to her responses to the points I raised. To the question I asked earlier, “What exactly is the harm in trying to reduce obesity?”, Megan responds: Of course, in their minds, none of this trying has costs, or at least, not any interesting ones. I mean, sure, maybe it’s a huge infringement of property rights, but those

Greetings, Quotaholics: I tried to Tweet but found Twitter was terrible for me. I’m not all that fond of 140 character sound bites so it proved less useful for any meaningful connection than I had originally hoped. But I did try. I believe I would be considered to be an “adult” by most definitions. I’m over 50 and have had my own AARP card for nearly a decade now (you get one when a spouse turns 50). I have four lovely grandchildren.

Politics Daily The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) has identified 70 Democrats to target for the 2010 election, according to an email obtained by AOL Politics Daily. Many of the targeted members are Democratic freshmen and sophomores from conservative districts. The email sent from an NRCC staffer to Republican PACs says that “we have the opportunity to focus on many more districts and some unusual districts that haven’t been targeted in a long time.” The email with the list of targeted districts appears at the bottom of this page.
