Thank god for this column , in which Fraudulent Krugman shows that he is thoroughly out of touch with America.  He basically argues that opposition to Obamacare arises from cultural and racial anxiety.

St. Louis police arrested six people, some on assault charges, outside of the event. One conservative activist, interviewed at a local emergency room where he was being treated for injuries, said he was attacked by some of the individuals who were arrested as he passed out “Don’t tread on me” flags.

Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius wrote an op-ed column for the Washington Post this past Tuesday in an effort to defend the Obama administration’s health care reform boondoggle. Last night, as reports began to emerge of unrest at two big health care town halls in Tampa and St. Louis, a man on Twitter claiming to work with SEIU, claimed a handful of arrests in St. Louis had been Obamacare critics, and they’d been arrested for assaulting SEIU members. His report was dutifully repeated by liberals looking to paint the violence as caused by critics of the administration. The American Family Association (AFA) is exposing the contemptuous attitude of the AARP (American Association of Retired Persons) to seniors who opposed U.S. President Obama’s plans for a radical transformation of America’s medical system. I’ve seen conservatives circulating this YouTube clip , in which Andrea Mitchell, discussing polling numbers showing low support for Obama’s health care reforms, notes in an aside that opponents “may not know what’s good for them.” This incredibly tone-deaf choice of words, naturally, prompts cries of “elitism” and “arrogance.”  Insofar as “elitism” has recently been used primarily as a bludgeon against anyone who thinks knowledge or education are good, I’m certainly much happier to see it deployed as a surrogate for “paternalism.” But I’m also not quite sure it fits the bill.

A Twitter friend of mine is outraged at what has happened, and so am I. I just heard Rush speak to some of the people who there, and this is worse than we thought. We knew there were going to be union bosses there with their minnions, but they were there only to do violence with anyone who disagreed with the democrat politician. Just a quick note: I loathe to go into the subject of politics on the blog, as I don’t want the blog to be sidetracked into that murky realm. Even if you don’t believe me, or CNN, or FoxNews…read the words of a doctor. It’s the words from someone on the front lines, and has dealt with the current health care industry.

Warning: If you can actually watch this without experiencing visceral anguish, anger and outrage, you might just be an Obama-bot. In all seriousness, it is extremely graphic. To all of my pro-choice friends who believe that if a child isn’t going to be born into “perfect” circumstances (e.g. a two-parent household with financial stability), that this kind of slaughter is justified, perhaps this video will encourage you to reconsider. Many of the world’s greatest achievers entered the world under less than ideal circumstances.

Kenneth Gladney, 38, a conservative activist from St. Louis, said he was attacked by some of those arrested as he handed out yellow flags with “Don’t tread on me” printed on them. He spoke to the Post-Dispatch from the emergency room at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center, where he said he was awaiting treatment for injuries to his knee, back, elbow, shoulder and face. Gladney, who is black, said one of his attackers, also a black man, used a racial slur against him before the attack.

Peggy Noonan has been on a roll lately. Her column in the Wall Street Journal this morning is a brilliant deconstruction of the Democratic Party’s desperate response to losing control over the health care debate. Jonah Goldberg’s column is spot on: Democrats are panicking over health care reform, which is causing them to lash out at the average working people they’ll need if they want to keep their majority in the House: The Democratic Party is panicking, lashing out like a cornered animal, all because its effort to take over the health care industry is coming apart like so much wet toilet paper. Nancy Pelosi, who will get her own bound volume in the annals of asininity, has outdone herself.

After reading so much about how out-there Republicans were threatening health care reform town halls, swarming in as angry hordes and mobs and such things, I was surprised to see a photo in today’s paper that purports to show an Obama supporter ripping a sign from a peaceful, well-dressed protester who opposes Obama’s health reform plans. The anti-health-care-reform protester, Kris McLay, was holding a sign with paintings of the face of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi – who was the subject of the Denver rally – and the words “Liar Liar,” according to a report from The Post’s Colleen O’Conner and Claire Trageser.
