The doctor* is in the hizz-ouse! It’s been a while since I’ve answered questions, but your insurance coverage ran out a long time ago. Unfortunately for my golf game, President Barack Obama is trying to push healthcare reform through–which means more questions for me–and if it passes, I might have to actually practice medicine* for once! So, let’s get to those letters and, if we have time, a town hall meeting! Dear Dr.

No TOTUS. Stuff happens. Obama, not smart enough to shut up, managed to insert a whole new dimension into the discussion: that ObamaCare will be another version of the US Post Office . Mutatis mutandis, of course. You know, the Federal bureaucracy with a monopoly on first-class mail (and a monopoly on 4th-class, by default) which will LOSE $Billions this year? Yah, that one! But the idea is not without some benefits.

In an interview in April, President Obama said a hip replacement for his grandma in the final weeks of her life made him wonder whether expensive procedures for those near the end of their life would be a “sustainable model” for health care.“I don’t know how much that hip replacement cost,” Obama said in the interview. “I would have paid out of pocket for that hip replacement just because she’s my grandmother.”Well that’s reassuring.

I love it. A few in the media are actually now admitting that Obama was attempting to slam through health care reform to cut off the debate with the American people. USA Today : The reason the White House had pushed for congressional action before the August recess began was precisely to avoid this scenario: critics filling the summer lull with protests and ads that could raise concerns and rally opposition to Obama’s top legislative priority.
Yes, the Right Is Using Nazi Comparisons - washingtonindependent.com

Ed Morrissey and John McCormack, two smart conservatives, have two dishonest responses to this morning’s discovery that a popular “Obama=Hitler” poster was created by the cult of fringe Democratic activist Lyndon LaRouche. Morrissey calls the LaRouche poster “the origin of the ‘Nazi’ references at a handful of town-hall protests.” McCormack calls the LaRouche activists “left-wing Democrats,” and grouses that the media will unfairly focus on the “tens — nay, dozens — of conservative protesters out of the tens (hundreds?) of thousands who will attend Obamacare town-hall meetings this month holding signs comparing Obamacare to Nazism.” A couple of things.

I previously wrote that the AARP was defending Obamacare . Well, I’m guessing due to the growing furor by seniors over the euthanasian tenor of Section 1233 , AARP is backing away, which is huge and important. I’ve said before if Democrats lose seniors on this, they’ve lost. Now CNSNews.com is reporting: AARP Chief Operating Officer Tom Nelson issued a statement saying that the organization has not endorsed any legislation.
obamacare’s death panels - blatheringsblog.com
08/12/2009
when sarah palin used the term ‘death panels’ to describe obamacare’s rationing of services and end of life counseling, the left went ballistic. i do admit that i myself winced, but as i thought about it a wee bit more and studied HR 3200, i saw how she actually put her finger on the fear that most americans are feeling right now over this hot mess that obama is trying to shove down our throats. and frankly, it doesn’t matter what the left says, the truth is that under obamacare, goverment will be involved in end-of-life decisions.

The Heritage Foundation listed on their website seven lies told by President Obama at the town hall meeting yesterday. Let me republish them here. I want to thank the Lonely Conservative for bringing this to my attention. “I have not said that I was a single-payer supporter.” This is directly contradicted by candidate Barack Obama’s own website which quotes Obama at a rally in Ames, Iowa form 2008: “If I were designing a system from scratch I would probably set up a single-payer system.

No longer will we be referring to the ObamaCare debate as “health reform”, “OgabeCare” or “death boards”. The White House (Linda Douglass wrote me personally) (did not) wants us to use the non-fishy, gender-neutral, pick-a-bad-guy “HEALTH INSURANCE REFORM” instead. Got that? “HEALTH INSURANCE REFORM” For like, you know, when we don’t have any anymore. There. I have discharged my duty. Now, there’s a piece over at HotAir ( “ Obama would rather risk America coming apart than not get his way “ ) that brings me to my second point.

I did a lot of driving today.  So, I listened to a lot of radio from such people as Laura Ingraham, Andrew Wilkow and Rush Limbaugh.  Well, not everyone gets to listen to their shows regularly and a common thread seemed present throughout them all (of course fit in between the Town Hall/Health Care thing):  August 12, 2009 is the date calculated by Americans for Tax Reform and the Center for Fiscal Accountability on which: the average American has earned enough gross income to pay off his or her share of the spending and regulatory burdens imposed by government at the federal, state, and local levels.

Just had to get that off my chest.  I don’t hate Twitter, or think that it should never be used.  I just don’t find it very relevant to my life.  And I have good reasons for that.  Other people have good reasons why it is the best online tool in their digital life.  And they find pretty cool uses for it.

So it turns out that Ohio Congressman Tim Ryan is partially responsible for the attempted deception over abortion in ObamaCare. Just a reminder: It’s in there . Since he’s such a darling of Ohio’s far-left loonysphere/thugosphere, this item is required linkage : Congressman Tim Ryan (D-Ohio) is currently playing a key role in assisting the pro-abortion lobby, and the White House, in resisting genuine pro-life amendments to the Obama-backed health care bills.

Obama’s New Hampshire Town Hall Lies - yidwithlid.blogspot.com
08/12/2009
The President’s Town hall in New Hampshire turned out to be is a staged play (theater of the absurd), Tickets were given to a pre-screened audience As usual for such events, the White House controlled the distribution of the free tickets to get into the gym at Portsmouth High School . And, per usual, the Secret Service will take care of any unruliness. Any doubt about the event being staged was erased by this banter between the President and the crowd: THE PRESIDENT:That’s what we need to do right now.

Wednesday, August 12, 2009 While Secretary of State Hillary was telling an audience in the Democratic Republic of the Congo that government should own business, the president was spreading his disinformation to a partisan crowd in New Hampshire. His pack of disinformation is too long for this blog, so I will include just the fist two falsehoods that the president spun for not only the crowd in the school but a National Television audience. After all, that is the purpose of these type meetings.

With a projected $1.8 trillion deficit for 2009, several trillions more in deficits projected over the next decade, and with both Medicare and Social Security entitlement spending about to ratchet up several notches over the next 15 years as Baby Boomers become eligible for both, we are rapidly running out of other people’s money. These deficits are simply not sustainable. They are either going to result in unprecedented new taxes and inflation, or they will bankrupt us.

I believe he thinks it’s just a bit too unseemly. His contention is that Krauthammer is right in saying the raw emotions people are showing at the congressional town halls are counterproductive, because they scare the undecideds, namely uncommitted Democrats.

One of the charges one hears made most often about the uprising of angry Americans against Obamacare is that it is funded and coordinated by the GOP or health insurance lobbyists. You see it in the various blogs, forums, newspapers, and so on. And it is, if course, the Democrats making such charges. But why is it something that they do on a pretty regular basis entirely off limits for those on the Right? In Denver it became quite evident the “bought and paid for” protesters weren’t from the Right, but from the Left.

If not dead, on life-support: Americans just don’t want it, by WIDE margins . “Public support for the health care reform plan proposed by President Obama and congressional Democrats has fallen to a new low as just 42% of U.S. voters now favor the plan. That’s down five points from two weeks ago and down eight points from six weeks ago. A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey shows that opposition to the plan has increased to 53%, up nine points since late June.

Arlen Spector met with constituents about health care reform . I think the people in Pennsylvania know very well what ObamaCare represents: expansion of government at the expense of personal freedoms. I’m amazed that our representatives are so quick to throw us all to the wolves for something that we do NOT want! Obama, in defense of his signature piece of legislation, says “ I don’t want death panels “. Then again, he is putting control of our health coverage (and the benefits we receive) in the hands of a group of political appointees who are essentially above the law.

Our young and inexperienced President came out today and told the truth about the DC liberals’ risky scheme to march toward a government run health care system (not plan): Meanwhile, at another point of today’s town hall meeting, Obama was pushing back against the idea that the creation of a new government-run plan would drive private insurers out of business, and he said that UPS and FedEx were doing fine, but “it’s the post office that’s always having problems .” Yeah, but USPS is cheaper right?

In trying to counter the argument that ObamaCare will cripple private insurance, The One tries his hand at an analogy.  He says to just look at FedEx, UPS, and the Postal Service.  He says FedEx and UPS are doing just fine, and that “it’s the Postal Service that’s always having problems”!  See for yourself:   Dude…you just friggin’ proved our point!  Private enterprise, when left unmolested by Big Government, will innovate every time.  Whereas a government entity trying to do what businesses do (in this example, the Postal Service) will be bastions of inefficiency and waste… which is exactly what the USPS is ! I want to emphasize something I noted in a previous post about rationing verses triage . Let’s look at the definition of triage: In advanced triage, doctors may decide that some seriously injured people should not receive advanced care because they are unlikely to survive. Advanced care will be used on patients with less severe injuries. Because treatment is intentionally withheld from patients with certain injuries, advanced triage has ethical implications.

Republicans haven’t had many good spokesmen against Obamacare and for reasonable alternatives (such as changing the employer health insurance tax credit to be a taxpayer credit), but they’ve got a big one now:  Barack Obama.  If you sign on to Obamacare, he notes, you won’t have to worry about private insurance disappearing because the government option will be run as well as the post office .  The Heritage Foundation folks run with this and make a few good points , including that the USPS is burning money despite having a monopoly on a huge chunk of mail delivery.

By Noel Bagwell August 11, 2009 Barack Obama likens the government’s potential management of the health care industry to the United States Postal Service, saying, “I think private insurers should be able to compete. They do it all the time. I mean, uh… th-… if you think about, if, if you think about it, uh, uh, UPS and FedEx are doin’ just fine. Right? The uh… no, they are, I mean, it’s, it’s the Post Office that’s always havin’ problems.” Well said, Mr. President. Well said.
08/11/2009
I suspect the health care debate will not end well. Right now the big sticking point is the idea of a “single payer.” Opponents say ObamaCare is a trojan horse that will destroy private insurers and lead to single payer. Defenders of socialized medicine took a big hit with this video showing that their plan is a calculated lie to ease America into a single payer system (socialized medicine). I fear that they work out a system in which private insurance companies are guaranteed to survive — under government control.

Kudos to Glenn Beck for reporting on Obama’s health care proposals last week on his TV show. Beck outlined how Obamacare is an end run around Medicare. Obamacare is designed to put an end to private health insurance by forbidding the writing of new private insurance policies after January 1, 2010. Medicare recipients will come under Obamacare. The Democrats are trying to solve the huge unfunded Medicare liability by restricting the care provided to older patients.

President Obama assailed “wild misrepresentations” by his opponents at the Portsmouth town hall today. But he wildly misrepresented his position on single payer. And he wildly misrepresented the AARP’s position on Obamacare:…the President may have overstated support for his plan in one instance. When asked about the potential impact of the reform plan on Medicare, the President said, “The AARP would not be endorsing a bill if it was undermining Medicare.” Problem is - the AARP has not yet endorsed the plan.

The president’s radical, racist, and totalitarian agenda also scares away incremental supporters weekly.
