Dear Lee S, Sometimes, the truth is…well… almost unbelievable. You’ve heard TeamObama attack Americans for “manufactured anger.” You’ve seen them tell citizens to send “fishy” emails attacking the health care takeover directly to the White House . You saw Speaker Pelosi vilify hundreds of thousands of us as “un-American” for simply defending our freedoms.

With Democrats across the nation already facing hostile crowds of constituents fired up about health care, “stimulus” spending and the overall expansion of government a contingent of Democrat Senators would like Obama to delay his push on cap and trade. For understandable reasons, most of them having to do with the fact that they’d like to remain in office . Ben Nelson of Nebraska and North Dakota Senators Kent Conrad and Byron Dorgan joined Lincoln in suggesting that the climate measure be put off.

Cross-posted from: here The American Petroleum Institute is planning to launch a major astroturf campaign in the coming weeks to try in gin up “opposition” to climate legislation in the Senate. I saw this first on The Huffington Post by Kevin Grandia, who has provided the once secret memo uncovered by Greenpeace. The contents of the pdf are a letter by Phil Radford, the Executive Director of Greenpeace to the President of API calling him out. Below that is the memo sent by API to its allies.

The measure of the impact of health-care protests can now be seen on another major item on the Barack Obama agenda. Senator Blanche Lincoln (D-AR) has called on the Senate to jettison the Waxman-Markey cap-and-trade bill for this year, calling it “too big” after the political turmoil of the eruption of anger on ObamaCare. Three other Democrats have publicly supported the idea of focusing only on promotion of renewable energy:The U.S.

Hat tip to Phil Kerpen of Americans For Prosperity for tweeting this story, in which Bloomberg reports : The U.S. Senate should abandon efforts to pass legislation curbing greenhouse-gas emissions this year and concentrate on a narrower bill to require use of renewable energy, four Democratic lawmakers say. “The problem of doing both of them together is that it becomes too big of a lift,” Senator Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas said in an interview last week.

Many experts have pointed to tort reform as a key element of any effort to hold down the costs of health care:Old Democratic presidential aspirant John Edwards won $175 million in judgments over a 12-year period suing doctors, hospitals and insurance companies, everyone but the candy stripers, over infant cerebral palsy cases allegedly caused

In the next few weeks the media will begin recounting the great implosion of a year ago. We will watch, read and hear again how an economic “death panel” led by Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson denied aid to flawed firms such as Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. and Bear Stearns Cos. while companies such as American International Group Inc. and Citigroup Inc. were kept alive through extraordinary means. Many of the postmortems will take as a given the idea that Wall Street has somehow changed.

More than any article I’ve read lately, this Bloomberg discussion of cap and trade legislative tweaking is a must read! I swear to you, it’s like a cast of characters straight from Shakespeare’s own quill! My favorite line is from this huckster: Carbon markets “will die, and the temperature on the planet will go up by a couple of degrees, more than it would have otherwise, and we’ll be really sorry about it,” Winters said.

Last month, I expressed my disgust with agriculture lobbyists inside the Beltway who paved the way for the Waxman-Markey cap-and-trade bill to pass out of the U.S. House. As a wheat grower, I was particularly frustrated by the short-sightedness of the National Association of Wheat Growers (NAWG).Well, to give credit where it’s due, although NAWG is still wrong as it can be on cap-and-trade, the Colorado Association of Wheat Growers this week met with Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack and told

Tomorrow, Pittsburgh is going to be home to thousands of political activists from both sides of the aisle. (Although if you watch cable news you would think it was only the left.) Netroots Nation and RightOnline are both in town for their annual events. And although there will probably be little if any crossover traffic, there is certain to be crossover content . Take, for example, card check, otherwise known as the inaptly named Employee Free Choice Act.

One of the creators who pushed through the national energy tax, better known as “cap and trade,” is now skeptical about the monster he created, the Wall Street Journal is reporting. In the 1960s, a University of Wisconsin graduate student named Thomas Crocker came up with a novel solution for environmental problems: cap emissions of pollutants and then let firms trade permits that allow them to pollute within those limits.

State Rep. Cory Gardner, R-Yuma, is holding health-care town halls in the swing Fourth District, where he is also running to unseat Democratic U.S. Rep. Betsy Markey. He held a telephone town hall Tuesday, and this coming Wednesday he’s holding a live town hall in Fort Collins. The headlines played large at his website shout the politics of the strategy: “Gardner to host town halls in Markey’s absence” and “Look who’s not afraid of holding town halls.” Markey is in Israel on a Congressional fact-finding mission.

32% Favor Single-Payer Health Care, 57% Oppose Another way of looking at is this: 57% against H.R. 3200, only 32% in favor with 11% undecided but leaning to disapproval (??) 81% See Unwillingness to Control Spending as Bigger Problem than Resistance to Taxes There is almost no one in the country thinking we should continue down the spending path “to prosperity,” Cap and Trade and the Health Care bill are in big trouble because they came to the people after $9 trillion has been spent in the first 200 days of Obama.

I was away on a vacation for a few days, and, as I basically was able to ignore the news for much of that time. I’ve learned that missing a few days of is actually good for the soul. Now that I am back into the fray, I was astonished to see how much vociferous opposition there is to Health Care Reform. Both sides are using scare tactics, and there seems to be a tendency toward hysteria.
