Last night I fell asleep in front of the TV. The infomercials were flying and at about 4am I woke up in a cold sweat after a nightmare. I dreamed that instead of putting ads on Craigslist to pay people $10 to $15 an hour to promote Obamacare, that the Obama Administration hired Vince, the ShamWOW guy to sell it for them. It went something like this. Hi I’m Vince for Obama care. You’ll be saying wow everytime you need medical care. It’s like Dr. Kevorkian, Nurse Ratchett and President Obama all rolled into one.

On the one hand, this may signal a significant victory for opponents of ObamaCare. On the other hand, I’ve learned not to trust this administration and insist on sleeping with one eye open. We’ll see. Bowing to Republican pressure and an uneasy public, President Barack Obama’s administration signaled Sunday it is ready to abandon the idea of giving Americans the option of government-run insurance as part of a new health care system.

The August 14, 2009 Colorado Springs Gazette printed Ari Armstrong’s OpEd, ” Rationing Inherent In Obamacare “. Here is the introduction: The health reform debate has heated up mainly over rationing. On August 6, Mike Sola of Michigan confronted Rep. John Dingell. As Sola’s son watched from a wheelchair, Sola charged, “Under the Obama health care plan which you support, this man would be given no care whatsoever because he is a cerebral palsy handicapped person.” That same day in Longmont, a cancer survivor told a crowd, “I’ve had a total of 11 surgeries.

North Dakota Democrat Senator Kent Conrad, July 26, 2009 Well, does anyone, particularly the RIGHT believe him? A key Senate negotiator said Sunday that President Barack Obama should drop his push for a government-funded public health insurance option because the Senate will never pass it. Democratic Sen. Kent Conrad of North Dakota said it was futile to continue to “chase that rabbit” due to the lack of 60 Senate votes needed to overcome a filibuster.

President Obama contributed an article yesterday to the New York Times titled, Why We Need Health Care Reform. He failed to explain why. He just repeated the assertions that he has made several times recently in his appearances on television. He opened with this: OUR nation is now engaged in a great debate about the future of health care in America. And over the past few weeks, much of the media attention has been focused on the loudest voices.

I have not been this happy to be a Republican — watching Obama and his socialist healthcare proposals going down in flames — since George Bush won the 2004 election, guaranteeing that we’d stick around to win the war in Iraq. I love how all the high-minded types jumped on Sarah Palin for her remark. Obama is a socialist. Socialism doles out resources — not according to the marketplace — but according to government fiat. Because there are never enough resources, they must be rationed.

Hugh Hewitt points to ” a very big headline ” and a very big testament to the power of the people making themselves heard. As Hugh goes on to note, now we’ll see what it really means : Obama and the Democrats seem set on some monumental piece of legislation and much larger government oversight/control of the health care sector, so it’s hard to believe they’re going to retreat and start considering alternative plans.

SL: What kind of medicine do you practice and how will “Obama Care” affect your practice? Dr. Chad Matthews: I’m a Doctor of Upper Cervical Chiropractic; Obama care is not exactly something I’m a fan of, but I’m not sure, yet, how it will affect me. I run a cash-like office, and accept out-of-network benefits only. There is no medication or surgery involved in what I do. It’s a completely natural means to healthcare. With people seeking alternatives more than ever before, my office stands to continue its growth.

Can frank language change the outcome of a debate? Some ( here and here ) are saying Sarah Palin has won a round against President Obama, thanks to some “inflammatory” (you hate Palin) or “frank” (you like Palin) language. Her “death panel” phrase drew enough attention that part of the proposed legislation on end-of-life medical care was scrapped: A Senate panel has decided to scrap the part of its healthcare bill that in recent days has given rise to fears of government “death panels,” with one lawmaker suggesting the proposal was just too confusing.

Is it just me noticing this or have all of you noticed it too.  Obama gave a campaign speech where he said America was tired of the same old ideas to get things done.  I guess he was hinting he’d try new ones instead.  Then he went out and found a bunch of ideas that have failed somewhere else and attempted to adapt them?

The Bookworm Room discusses why we may lose doctors under Obamacare . The one thing that Obama supporters are not discussing is the making of a doctor. The good doctors we have come as the result of a grueling process. The best and the brightest, rather than leaving college and going off to make money, instead opt for the following: 1. Four more years of graduate training, including (a) the trauma of anatomy classes and (b) the exhaustion of clinical work, which is what they do in the last two years.

Death Panels. Section 1233 of HR 3200, the Waxman version of ObamaCare, provides for end of life counseling by physicians. There is no written penalty for the patient to refuse the counseling. There is however financial incentive for the physician to provide such counseling and initiate the discussion. This provision has been hotly contested, its existence denied by everyone on the left and many on the right, but it does exist.

This is way too important an issue to be reduced to such Rove/Rahm partisan hate tactics.

by Bill Levinson Rush Limbaugh’s partially-informed commentary on HR 3200, the current health care reform bill before Congress, provides Barack Obama and his allies with a convenient smokescreen for the controversy over “death panels” that would decide when and from whom to withhold lifesaving medical treatment for “cost containment” purposes. They can cite the principle “falsus in unum, falsus in omnibus” (false in one thing, false in everything) with proof that HR 3200 contains no such provisions whatsoever.

The teetering position in which our nation has been placed by the cumulative effects of leftist education and leftist media (and their impact on the minds of the voters) seems to be near the point of overcoming inertia. If only there were insurance against tipping in the wrong direction. Of course if there were such insurance, it would eventually become the object of the Statist’s lust. There is so much at stake right now, it is difficult to keep track of it all.

Day By Day by Chris Muir Chris, grass roots conservatives will have to wait a long time for the Republican Party. The GOP is a large conglomerate of competing interests on the center-right and will move slowly. Look how slow the GOP was to root out corruption among their elected Congressional members when they had the majority. But, what will accelerate the movement of success for the electoral GOP will be the far left policy initiatives of the Democrats, like PORKULUS and Obamacare.

WASHINGTON, D.C., August 14, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Cardinal Justin Rigali of Philadelphia, chairman of the U.S. Bishops’ (USCCB) Secretariat of Pro-Life Activities, has again spoken out aganst the abortion expansion in President Obama’s health care legislation, calling the bill “seriously deficient” on the issue of mandated coverage and funding of abortion.  Archbishop Charles Chaput of Denver also issued a call to action urging Catholics to tell legislators that only a bill that excludes abortion is acceptable health care reform.  In an August 11 letter to the U.S.

According to a Rasmussen survey released today, only 35 percent of Americans believe that passage of the bill “currently working its way through Congress” would be better than not passing any health care legislation this year. 54 percent of Americans disagree, believing that it would be better to pass no bill. The poll question is a bit misleading because there is no single bill working its way through Congress at this time. However, the results show pretty clearly that the Democrats are losing the health care debate.

As part of his full-court press in the media on behalf of his flagging health-care system overhaul, Barack Obama penned an op-ed for today’s New York Times.  He garnered a key Sunday slot, which is the opinion journalism equivalent of a prime-time press conference, so one might expect that Obama has something new to add to the debate.  Instead, he gave the same stump speech that Obama uses in every town hall, or greenhouse, as Jim Treacher calls them in honor of the many plants that appear in

WSJ: Elderly Americans are turning out in droves to fight ObamaCare, and President Obama is arguing back that they have nothing to worry about. Allow us to referee. While claims about euthanasia and “death panels” are over the top, senior fears have exposed a fundamental truth about what Mr. Obama is proposing: Namely, once health care is nationalized, or mostly nationalized, rationing care is inevitable, and those who have lived the longest will find their care the most restricted.

It sounds as if a huge part of the Socialized Medicine part of Obamacare is being declared DOA by one of it’s lead Senate negotiator, since the country has risen up in rage over the proposal: Momentum behind a new government-run health care plan appeared to slow considerably Sunday, as a lead Democratic negotiator called the option a “wasted effort” and President Obama’s health secretary suggested the White House is ready to accept a health care reform package without it.

Most healthcare dollars are spent on the sick — that’s obvious. So if Obamacare is going to cover more people but cut costs and not add to the deficit , as Obama claims, somebody is going to get less care. Who might that be? President Obama said this in the NYT : when my grandmother got very ill during the campaign, she got cancer; it was determined to be terminal. And about two or three weeks after her diagnosis she fell, broke her hip…the doctor says, Look, you’ve got about — maybe you have three months, maybe you have six months, maybe you have nine months to live.
