Richard Fernandez has some thoughts on the intersection of Obamacare and community organizing: The health care reform bill approved by the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee (HELP) would provide federal grants to state and local governments and a “national network of community-based organizations” to “promote healthy living and reduce disparities” and to monitor people’s weight, eating, exercise habits and other individual behaviors that affect health at the community level.

I bet that you haven’t heard that terminology before: poll pushing. By definition, poll pushing is: Push Poll : technique in which an individual or organization attempts to influence or alter the view of respondents under the guise of conducting a poll. Just another ploy by the mainstream media – in this case NBC – to skew the numbers in reference to the comatose Obamacare health care bill, due up for a vote in Congress in either September or October.

Martin Feldstein outlines some elements of a plan that are quite a bit more sensible than sending us oldsters to the glue factory, which is Obama’s apparent strategy. WSJ : rationing health care is central to President Barack Obama’s health plan. The Obama strategy is to reduce health costs by rationing the services that we and future generations of patients will receive. The White House Council of Economic Advisers issued a report in June explaining the Obama administration’s goal of reducing projected health spending by 30% over the next two decades.

The unwelcome scrutiny, largely from Republicans, comes at an inopportune time as Obama seeks to shore up support for health care reform.

Some have said that health care reform is Obama’s Waterloo, or will be soon. The analogy is far from perfect; for example, Napoleon’s defeat at Waterloo was followed by his abdication, surrender, and exile, and it’s hard to believe this will happen to Obama even if the bill fails. But if “Waterloo” is shorthand for a big and important loss, than it would be an apt description for the situation the administration and its allies would face if this bill (or something like it) goes down to defeat.

Former House Majority Leader Dick Armey is organizing a march on Washington against the Obama administration’s healthcare plan that he hopes will finally finish off the Democratic push for socialized medicine. The first is that the New York Times specifically, and liberals generally, seem strangely untroubled by the Obama administration’s threat to go it alone when it comes to health-care legislation. President George W. Bush was lacerated for not being sufficiently bipartisan—even though his record at this stage in his presidency was, by this measure, much more impressive (including widespread bipartisan support for No Child Left Behind).

Nat Hentoff has traditionally been considered a liberal, perhaps mostly because of his views on freedom of speech . In recent years his pro-life and other views have made him something of an apostate, however. He certainly doesn’t like Obamacare, and lays out his case here : I was not intimidated during J. I’ve been gone 10 days from my blog (barring some drop-in blogging during vacation) and have returned to discover that nothing, but nothing, has changed in my absence.  The laundry list of news is exactly as it was when I left:  ObamaCare is dropping in the polls; Democrats are hurling insults at voters; the economy is in the tank; and Muslim groups are blowing up people (including fellow Muslims).  If I have to be caught in a time warp, couldn’t I be caught in a nice time warp?  That would be the time warp in which the economy is humming along; terrorist groups are cowed and inactive; and Congress is, if not Republican controlled, at least so balanced that neither party can do any harm.

I know that CNN is Barack TV, but isn’t a bit rich for them to parade their house doctor, Sanjay Gupta, as a disinterested voice on Obamacare? After all, Gupta was offered the militaristic-socialist post of surgeon general by Obama. That is how much Gupta is trusted. That he smartly turned down a  joke-job to keep making millions at CNN only means that Gupta is even more likely to take the Obamaite. He’s a more cultured Olbermann.

Folks forget that the present system of medicare isn’t exactly great. There are caps on everything and they make you pay for the medicare out of you SS payments. There is a “gap” area you need to self insure. And in the end if you have any property (your home for example) and get sick, they can come and take it away if you exceed the caps. Charles Krauthammer makes a good and happy point. He says that the public option was dead last weekend. There is no hope, it is deceased and no more. In fact, Krauthammer says the the whole Obamacare bill in dead for 2009. Team Obamarama, however, have propagated the fiction that it is still alive to placate the radical left. There is no harm in placating the base with dreams of a public option if you aren’t going to get a bill at all. If there is no vote, you don’t have to piss off the base by looking like you caved.

Reading through this article, you begin to come to two conclusions: 1) the problem with the costs of health care is NOT that there is too LITTLE government involvement in health care, but rather too MUCH, namely due to stupid government regulations that end up raising costs by undermining individual responsibility; 2) the people who most stand in the way of legitimate health care reform that would really work is Democrats and their special interest allies, such as organized labor.
