Signaling a willingness to chuck bipartisanship into his ever growing pile of broken promises, Obama guaranteed ObamaCare will pass with or without any republican votes. This is the first time Obama has publicly given his support for congressional democrats to go it alone by using a seldom employed provision that allows them to pass a bill with only 51 votes. Many question whether this move is even legal since the provision was designed only to be used for budgetary votes.

It was perhaps a slow seepage, but the media’s bias against conservatives, the GOP…well, let’s be honest - anyone right of Hillary Clinton has now fully set in and the questionable reporting on the health care protests have now reached the full-blown phony-baloney “reporting” seen over the TEA party protests where the press mocked grassroots protesters with derogatory homosexual innuendo. The MRC has compiled a handy little 1 page release on how bad things are getting, which you can download the .pdf of here: Double-Standard on Anti-ObamaCare “Mobs” .

Utah Representative Jim Matheson is running scared. I called his office last week and they said there would be no town halls but only telephone conference calls. So I signed up. I have heard nothing from the erstwhile representative and it is August 20th! We surely must divest ourselves of this party apparatchik. Matheson is obviously a sycophant of the Democrat party, not a representative of the people of Utah. To prove my point, he talks all around the health care issue, never addressing ObamaCare.

If you’re running an anti-reform group and are trying to persuade the public that you represent mainstream views on health care, it’s probably not a great idea to team up with a public official who called for a probe of anti-American members of Congress and has claimed Obamacare is a secret plot to turn America into Castro’s Cuba. Yet Americans for Prosperity, the well-funded group that’s spending millions of dollars to sink health care reform, is teaming up with none other than GOP Rep.

W e’ve all spent a good deal of time here at the League going over the various perspectives of the US health care debate and, indeed, many of us have brought some useful insights to bear on the discussion. However, I thought it might be helpful and interesting to get some thoughts from someone who works directly in and with the health care system on a day-to-day basis.

There are many things I am sure I disagree with Tea Party people with. For one, I am pro-choice. I have been a card-carrying member of the ACLU. I also regularly give money and volunteer for environmental organizations. I am by no stretch of the imagination a “wingnut.” I am not entirely certain that government healthcare is always a bad thing, but I do believe we can’t afford it right now. I am very much anti-Obama, however, and I am pro-Palin. And I support the Tea Parties, even if I don’t agree with everything on their platform.

Nat Hentoff, nationally renowned civil libertarian and longtime columnist with the Village Voice , has an excellent article on RealClearPolitics about why he is “finally scared of a White House administration.” (Disclaimer: we were colleagues together at the Cato Institute.) Hentoff reminds us of several interest remarks made by the President in the past few months: Here is what Obama said in an April 28 New York Times interview (quoted in a Washington Times July 9 editorial) in which he describes a government end-of-life services guide for the citizenry as we get to a certain age, or are in a certain grave condition.

President Obama explained during his health care pep talk for Organizing for America activists today what exactly has been dragging down his vision for Obamacare: “There’s something about August going into September where everyone in Washington gets all ‘wee-weed’ up,” the president said. Yes, wee-wee, the sneakiest fear-monger. Tinkle, the silent consensus-killer. There is some debate as to what the president meant, though it may have had something to do with Sarah Palin? I don’t know, everyone’s equally stumped: He pointed to last August’s selection of then-Alaska Gov.

While the Senators and Congressmen are home in their districts, let’s give them a barrage of attacks on Obama’s proposals to deform our health system! Even as public opinion has turned against the plan, he still has sixty votes in the Senate and an ample margin in the House to pass it. Unless we unleash a FIRESTORM of public outrage, the bill will pass! And your own personal health care will never be the same.

Bastards get mad when we call them Nazi’s; maybe they shouldn’t ACT like them… 2 posts from American Thinker… even after watching 8 years of the left and the state-run media savaging George Bush I can’t even imagine what it would be like if this first post was about Bush instead of Obama. Remember Haliburton? I ask again, where is the outrage from the usual outragers: Passing the Smell Test Michael Lisle Earlier this week, AT’s Rick Moran highlighted the Obama Administration’s decision to invest $2 billion to finance offshore drilling in Brazil.

We need barry to be out stumping for his ObamaCare more frequently. This guy is great for contradicting himself and is his own best critic. To put it bluntly, barry is a prevaricating sleazeball. He is so much into himself that he doesn’t see who badly he is hurting his own case. Keep on talking, barry! Don’t believe me, here is an article from wsj.com dated 08/20/2009 entitled “ ObamaCare’s Contradictions; The President does both sides now on his health insurance plan “: Over the past week, President Obama has held three town-halls to make the case for his health-care plan.

It is painfully obvious that President Obama or his staff does not read my blog, as I have mentioned several times my distaste for mixing politics and religion. Maybe his RSS feeder is messed up or something? On a conference call today with thousands of people from various faith communities, President Obama adopted the rhetoric and the spirit of the religious community to forcefully dispel myths about health care reform and to argue for its passage. “I know there’s been a lot of misinformation” about health care reform, Mr.

The government’s initial step in attempting to create a government-run healthcare monopoly has been to propose a law that would eventually drive the private health insurance industry out of existence. Additional taxes and mandated costs are to be imposed on health insurance companies, while a government-run “health insurance” bureaucracy will be created, ostensibly to “compete” with the private companies.

Joe Klein is the man at TIME magazine. If he wants a policy to be pushed, he will shove it in that liberal rag. Well Joe did that this year by featuring President Obama on the cover for fifty months all inside 6 months. President Obama is TIME’s mascot by now. Marshall Ackerman, who’s been a doctor since 1969 in the D.C. metro area, doesn’t much appreciate the characterization of doctors during the health care debate. Click through to read the whole thing for the full extent of Obama’s, shall we say, “misinformation” about physicians. But that’s not why Ackerman is anti-Obamacare. He charts his first-hand experience with the changes Medicare brought to his profession and wonders what further government involvement will do to the men and women we depend on to treat the rest of us: I have been a practicing orthopedic surgeon for 40 years.

That would appear to be the case . Now the DNC is striking back by pointing out that similar email collection is done on the Web sites of Senators and members of Congress, including … John Cornyn. Over on Cornyn’s Senate Web site, for instance, you find that people who want to contact the Senator are asked to submit personal info, such as their names, addresses and emails, which are all required.

Reps. Henry Waxman, D-Calif., and Bart Stupak, D-Mich. have sent letters to 52 health insurers demanding financial records specific to employees making a million dollars annually and above from 2003 trough 2008. They also want records of meetings and conferences held offsite as well as the types of transportation, lodging, food, entertainment and gifts exchanged. Obama’s Public Option - blog.jonolan.net

President Obama’s attempts to quasi-nationalize America’s health insurance industry is based upon providing people with a “ Public Option ” that will directly compete with America’s current private, semi-free market health insurance providers – whether those providers are the evil insurance giants or individual Americans’ employers.

White House chief propagandist Robert Gibbs blamed FreedomWorks for the ruckus being caused at townhall meetings, and for making noise in general in opposition to Obamacare. Well, guilty as charged when it comes to encouraging folks to attend townhall meetings and ask tough questions, but we certainly don’t encourage shouting anyone down. Either way, clearly we have gotten under the president’s skin in this healthcare fight. Sometimes David beats Goliath. From the transcript: MR.

Obama IS Leading, But in the Wrong Direction By David Swanson “If you would lead, maybe we would follow,” David Michael Green writes to Obama in another witty and aggressive article (and ALMOST always I agree with and admire what Green writes). MSNBC wanted to use one of the recent town halls as a jumping off point to paint Obamacare protesters, as Janeane Garafalo puts it, people who “hate that a black man is president.” Take a look at the first part of the video – you don’t need to watch the roundtable discussion. Notice anything odd about the shots of this guy carrying an AR-15 – a weapon that’s legal to openly carry in Arizona? There’s close-up shots of the gun, but what’s missing? That’s right, MSNBC doesn’t show a single wider shot of this guy.

Does the AARP not recognize the danger in the wage-stunting impact of ObamaCare, or do they just have another agenda than seniors in mind?  My latest column at American issues Project looks at the problems facing another troubled entitlement program, Social Security, and the dangers of more rapid insolvency from a decline in wages caused by Barack Obama’s health-care reform plans.  The AARP seems either unable or unwilling to connect the dots:Earlier this month, Steven Nyce and Syl Schieber produced a study for Watson Wyatt on the impact that Obama’s overhaul of health care would have on wage growth and productivity.

Liberals don’t want ordinary citizens to have a voice in the debate over socialized medicine, or Obamacare. In town hall meetings across the country, Americans are demanding answers as to why their elected representatives would vote for a trillion-dollar plan that turns health care management over to Washington bureaucrats. Liberal Democrats, the same ones who hire people to protest, are criticizing this outpouring of public sentiment. They are accusing the Republican Party of organizing an uprising to defeat Obamacare to embarrass the president.
