A great column in the Wall Street Journal points out that the problem isn’t that people aren’t listening to Obama. The problem is that they are and they can’t make any sense of what he says. From day to day, sometimes within the same speech, he makes completely contradictory assertions. He says the healthcare system we have now is a complete disaster that needs top-to-bottom overhaul but if you like it then nothing will change.

Ron Brownstein, one of the best analysts of polling numbers and political trends in the business (and quite knowledgeable about baseball trivia, I might add), reports this: Pew found Obama’s numbers are weakest among groups that were skeptical of him last year, but appeared to be kicking the tires on him during the honeymoon stage of his presidency. Now those groups—particularly white men without a college education—are retreating rapidly amid the ideologically polarizing debates over health care, the stimulus and his administration’s overall trajectory.

Dear Friends, News reports indicate that President Obama and U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius are wavering in their demands for a government-run “public option” in their sweeping health care legislation. Whether or not the Democrats’ plan is entirely government-run, -owned, and -operated, Americans still won’t be in control of their health insurance if Obamacare becomes law. We should inject real choice and change into the way Americans receive health care in this country.

It’s been a while since I wrote down my thoughts on the economy. In my last State of the Economy I wrote that I believed in a double dip. I am not so sure anymore. The reality is that home values are not on the rise yet, unemployment is still high, the number of foreclosures and credit card defaults are up, and worst of all consumer sentiment has not improved linearly with the stock market. We have seen some good results from companies that are now reporting the effects of their first half cost cutting, but I don’t that many can claim that their sales are up.

Despite the fact that the President is alternating between blaming those evil republicans and the evil insurance companies, the real hold up of Obamacare is the Civil War being waged in the Democratic party between the blue-dogs and the ultra liberals. For example, yesterday the self-declared most powerful woman in the world, Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, threw down the gauntlet : House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says the House will not pass a healthcare overhaul bill that doesn’t include a new public insurance plan, according to a report by The Associated Press.

It truly warms my heart to see a conservative in Hollywood speaking out against the Obama administration, especially someone with Jon Voight’s stature. Voight has amassed enough power and wealth in Hollywood that he can freely speak his mind without reprisals — something lesser stars just can’t do. Here’s what Voight told the Washington Times : “There’s a real question at stake now. Is President Obama creating a civil war in our own country?” Mr. Voight tells Inside the Beltway.

Liberals will insist that this isn’t happening at all. Listening to them, you’d think that Americans are pouring over the border to seek medical care in Canada while Canadians are living life large to our north. Free medical care for everyone! As much as you need! You might just have to be sent to the United States to receive it. Why? The wait lines in Canada are too damn long. Hospitals in border cities, including Detroit, are forging lucrative arrangements with Canadian health agencies to provide care not widely available across the border.

Now, Obama is inventing conspiracy theories to explain away the distaste most Americans have for ObamaCare. He blames it on a plan, or conspiracy, by the Republican leadership. I don’t know about you, but I made up my mind about it long before I heard anything about it from the Republicans. Therefore, either Obama is lying, or he’s delusional. It’s got to be one or the other. He seems to be in denial about the fact that most of us are too smart to buy another pig-in-a-poke; having already bought several from this same snake-oil salesman.

  Well here’s an idea! As the President is now preaching, we should be our brothers’ keepers, we are God’s partners in matters of life and death * (there’s those pesky death panels again!), and healthcare is a moral and ethical obligation. Aside from the part where POTUS declares God his junior partner, this might not be such a bad concept. According to the word of Obama and the Bible (both Old and New Testaments), clearly we have some sort of moral requirement to take care of those less fortunate than ourselves.

Scott Horton has a great interview with progressive journalist Greg Palast on the behind-the-scene dealings between Obama and Big Pharma. Scott defends the free market, which is opposed by Palast, but the latter agrees that the big-business-big-government program we’re seeing is an example of “fascism.” Obamacare will be “the worst of both worlds,” Palast concludes. Whereas Obama promised transparency in the government’s dealings with the drug companies, this constitutes yet another total violation of a key campaign vow.

A Deck Stacked With Race CardsWhat if America transcended race, and Barack Obama wasn’t invited? The question comes to mind as cries of racism grow ever louder from Obama’s supporters. No one should be surprised. Fish gotta swim, birds gotta fly, liberal Democrats have to accuse their opponents of racism. Indeed, somewhat to their credit, fighting racism — alas, even where it doesn’t exist — is one of the reasons they became liberal Democrats in the first place.

Today’s Latin lesson: Dirigo, meaning “I lead.” It is the state motto of Maine and the name of their 2003 universal health care plan was DirigoChoice. I’ll confess I thought it read “DingoChoice” as in “Dingoes Ate My Baby,” but the name is even more prescient than that.The Wall Street Journal Editorial Page reports that Dingo –er DirigoChoice has very similar elements to ObamaCare and was sold under very similar promises.

An honest an objective look at the supposed healthcare “crisis” reveals the real problem is the rise in the practice of defensive medicine. The trail lawyers sue with no caps. To protect themselves, doctors have to order extensive and sometimes unnecessary tests. Tort reform is what’s really needed. Here’s another fun detail from last night’s Americans For Prosperity teletown hall, which featured Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC) and Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN). Both politicians said that if a health care bill passes, it should be actively fought and resisted through a collective effort of conservative governors. A caller asked DeMint what the states could do in order to stop unconstitutional action by the federal government on health care.

Courtesy of the Oregon Health Care System, there is proof that bureaucrats doing cost/benefit analysis, do in fact act as “death panels”.  With Chairman O pushing for government run health care, his minions better hope they don’t have to battle cancer with ObamaCare calling the shots.  It seems there is some basis in fact behind Sarah Palin’s statement. Although the White House has downplayed their ObamaCare opposition “snitch” program and redirected “fishy” claims to their new “Reality Check” site, let’s remember that this fiasco has been part of their downfall. The Liberals just announced that they are planning a march on Washington D.C. on September 13, 2009, to support a Public Insuances (Obamacare) in the Bill! Do they think we are stupid? They plan to claim the Tea Party March as their own! They want it to appear as if the Tea Party Mrach is in support of Obamacare! If you are going to Washington D.C. for the march, make certain that your signs are clearly in REBUTTAL of Obamacare and have no support for his nonsense in any way.

A Washington Post-ABC News poll indicates Americans are just about over their drunken orgy of happiness with Obama. Though his approval rating is 57% according to the poll, it is “ 12 points lower than it was at its peak in April .” That may not seem significant to the average American, but it is serious business with the Obama people. So dramatic a drop translates out to the critical 2010 election when the chances for a “Contract With America” type shift begin looking like a fait accompli.

You may have heard about the nutroots boycott of Whole Foods, whose CEO John Mackey is an outspoken critic of Obamacare and advocates market-based alternatives.Their food is pricey, but if you have a chance/opportunity to help counter the boycott, go out and buy a few Whole Foods items. But even if some conservative Republican critics are wrong about Section 1233 (death panels), there is good reason to worry about Obama’s nationalization scheme. The reason can be found in Econ 101. Medical care doesn’t grow on trees. It must be produced by human and physical capital, and those resources are limited. Therefore, if demand for health care services increases — which is Obama’s point in extending health insurance — prices must go up.

A bizarre article from Charles Krauthammer in today’s Washington Post. In the second sentence he trashes Palin: “We might start by asking Sarah Palin to leave the room. I’ve got nothing against her. She’s a remarkable political talent. But there are no “death panels” in the Democratic health-care bills, and to say that there are is to debase the debate.” And by the third paragraph he is explaining that Obamacare will basically create a “death panel”: “We also have to tell the defenders of the notorious Section 1233 of H.R.

It’s the best cure for what ails the Obama presidency. It’s inherently complicated, and it’s personal. There are land mines all over the place. Don’t make the mistake the Clintons made and create a plan that gets picked apart, shot down, and injures the standing of the president. Instead, push it off on Congress.

The flagrant abuse of the truth by the Obama Administration and its minions, intent on either decimating the American Health Care system as we know it or subduing the Health Care choices of every man, woman and child “for their own good”, deserves some real reflection. Anyone as accustomed as Barack Obama is to having anything he says treated as “a sermon on the mount”, one can understand the fluster and the frustration at being questioned. But what is more telling is the manner in which he responds.

The L.A. Times reports that President Obama took to the talk radio airwaves yesterday in support of ObamaCare, and (among other things) assured citizens that ObamaCare would not cover illegal immigrants: “You mentioned illegal immigrants,” Obama told one caller. “None of the bills that have been voted on in Congress and none of the proposals coming out of the White House propose giving healthcare coverage for illegal immigrants – none of them. . . .
