The smart lady with the powerful keyboard is at it again, this time taking on the all-important issue of tort reform. Like the health providers she references, ‘Cuda is intimately familiar with being a target for frivolous lawsuits — an unfortunate reality in a world filled with opportunists: As Governor of Alaska, I learned a little bit about being a target for frivolous suits and complaints (Please, do I really need to footnote that?).

Although grass-roots activists were denied their seat at the staged “Town Hall” hosted by Congressmen Robert Wexler and Alcee Hastings at the South County Civic Center in Delray Beach today, hundreds of us stood in the hot sun to voice our opposition to Obamacare and fight for freedom amid the MoveOn/SEIU crowd. I arrived with my brother Ralph who is visiting from Pennsylvania, and my good friend Elaine Laffey at approximately 10:30 a.m.

“And then last year just about this time, you’ll recall that the Republicans had just nominated their Vice Presidential candidate, and everybody was — the media was obsessed with it, and cable was 24 hours a day, and “Obama’s lost his mojo.” (Laughter.) You remember all that? (Laughter.) There’s something about August going into September — (laughter) — where everybody in Washington gets all wee-weed up. (Laughter.) I don’t know what it is. (Laughter.) But that’s what happens. ” – Remarks by President Barack Obama at DNC Headquarters, 20 August 2009, at the ”Organizing for America” National Health Care Forum I don’t know what it is, either, Mr.

Nancy Mathis at Right Truth calls the following article the “most qualified and articulate evaluation of ObamaCare extant on the web,” having been written by Dave Janda, MD, a practicing orthopedic surgeon and a world-recognized expert on prevention, healthcare cost containment, and health care reform. According to Nancy, it has been circulated by viral email and republished in many places. To ensure that readers have access to an uncorrupted original, she requested a copy from the author, who kindly responded within an hour of her request.

What if after all the Congressional wrangling over Obama’s government healthcare plan it could be struck down by the Courts for violating the Constitution? Those pushing socialized medicine have framed medical care as a “right”, but of course it isn’t listed in the Constitution. They’ve really painted themselves into a corner by framing the debate this way. The problem with HR3200, is its attempt to impose a mandate.

While others have made much of the President’s use of the term, “wee-weed” up in the clip below, what struck me more than anything was how Mr. Obama has personalized the issue, as if it’s all about him winning. (H/t Michelle ). Basically, this shows that he is not particularly good on defense.

Sorry folks, the new improved version of Word Press no longer allows me to add live links. Please cut and paste the link into your browser. It looks like the email addies at the bottom are still live links, though. I am working to fix this. Don Cute gecko becomes obnoxious chameleon By Don Hank WorldNetDaily recently reported that Glenn Beck, one of the boldest and most brilliant talk show hosts on Fox News, has been targeted by a smear campaign headed by an avowed communist now employed by the White House .

The White House played dumb when asked how unsolicitated emails about healthcare reform ended up in the boxes of taxpayers across this country. Robert Gibbs tried to claim that the White House does not collect email addresses and that somehow they must have gotten the address through a third party. Freedom Works, which is one of the groups sponsoring the Sept.

I wonder why my blog counterpart has never mentioned in his multiple posts supporting ObamaCare the fact that his own home state has a public option health care plan. The again, after reading this , I guess it is obvious why. I’d have to quote the entire article to bring up every point worth mentioning, so just click the link and read it for yourself. Let’s just say, their public health care system is definitely something to get “ wee-wee’d up ” over.

The proponents of government-run health care keep saying over and over again that they’ll control costs. Well the only way for them to control costs is to control access to care. That means bureaucrats making decisions about your health care. Decisions that can sometimes mean the difference between life and death .

Sign the “Stop ObamaCare Petition because; … I (you) support the following as key elements of any health care reform plan: Choice: I support the right to choose my own doctor and to choose a heath insurance that best fits my family’s needs and budget. Access: I want to get the treatment I need, when I need it, without delay or denial and I want my healthcare to be patient-centered rather than government-centered.

In a Washington Post Op-Ed piece today, lawyers David Rivkin and Lee Casey point out the serious Constitutional objections to one of the central provisions of ObamaCare; the individual mandate requiring all Americans to have health insurance: In short, no. The Constitution assigns only limited, enumerated powers to Congress and none, including the power to regulate interstate commerce or to impose taxes, would support a federal mandate requiring anyone who is otherwise without health insurance to buy it.

Why am I not surprised to hear that ABC (the All Barack Channel) is refusing to air an ad, which is critical of Obamacare? Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., has sent a letter to the White House asking for the “full truth” behind the Axelrod e-mails and expressing concern that “political e-mail address lists were used for official purposes.” Chris Hansen, a staff attorney with the American Civil Liberties Union told FOX News that if the White House used the private firm, it’s the same as if it had sent the e-mails.

Can Obama FORCE you to buy health insurance through an individual mandate? This Washington Post article says no. It’s a very interesting thought, and one that I’ve been pondering since Smitty brought it up in the comments on a previous post of mine on ObamaCare. Rivkin and Casey run through several court precedents and find that none would pass muster to allow such a mandate: “The federal government does not have the power to regulate Americans simply because they are there.” Many of the uninsured, as we know, are young, feel invincible, and choose not to purchase health care which is entirely their right.

SO THE KNOXVILLE TEA PARTY CROWD HAD A RECESS RALLY at the Federal Courthouse, where Rep. Jimmy Duncan and Sens. Lamar Alexander and Bob Corker have offices. They had 100-150 people (I heard that about half that many counterprotesters were there at the beginning, but they were marching off and beating drums as I arrived, so I can’t attest to precise numbers.) A fairly impressive turnout, though, considering that I believe that Duncan, Corker, and Alexander are all opposed to ObamaCare.

The health care battle comes to Skokie, Illinois on the last day of August. Single-payer health care advocate Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Evanston) will hold a town hall meeting at Niles West High School–withing walking distance of my home–on August 31 at 6:30pm. Arguably the most liberal member of the House of Representatives, look for Schakowsky to pack the gym with her SEIU and ACORN goons. When I walk inside that night, I’ll recall Gollum’s words to Frodo and Sam as they approached Cirith Ungol in The Return of the King: “The dead city…nasty place…filled with enemies!” However….

Fox News The White House hired a private communications company based in Minnesota to distribute mass e-mails, helping to shed light on how some recipients received e-mails in support of President Obama’s health care plan without signing up for them, FOX News has learned. The company, Govdelivery, describes itself as the world’s leading provider of government-to-citizen communication solutions and says its e-mail service provides a fully-automated on-demand public communication system.

Take a look and we think you’ll agree there’s nothing objectionable about it. Unless, of course, you disagree with what it says. Of course, this is the same magnanimous television network that turned an entire night of its valuable primetime programming over to the President a few weeks ago so he could hype his socialized medicine scheme.

This is from the same organization which was responsible for packing Sherrod Brown’s sham town hall at OSU with union goons and leftist crazies. Who wants to go? Join us for a candlelight vigil and peaceful procession from one downtown Columbus church to another as we “Shine Our Light on Health Care.” This event will be an opportunity to reflect on the spiritual roots of our work to support health care reform – highlighting the moral aspects of the issue, and remembering the real-life consequences of our broken health care system.

by AlexinCT One of the big things the collectivists in power did when they got control of all three branches of government after the last election cycle, was to pass new and sweeping credit card legislation to prevent the greedy credit card companies from screwing irresponsible and stupid people that spent beyond their means and got themselves in deep debt. As usual government meddling has had the exact opposite effect as they wanted , and it is hurting those of us that are not complete and total idiots.

From the Desk of: Mat Staver The Obama administration and Nancy Pelosi think that if you’re not a fellow Socialist, you must be a “right-wing extremist.” They are now viciously attacking anyone who doesn’t agree with their radical agenda! Please see below. –Mat When your ship is sinking, blame someone! That’s what members of the Obama/Reid/Pelosi power axis seem to think. Problem is, they’re now blaming the majority of Americans who say we should abandon ObamaCare and start over.

Look to the Bay State for an idea of life under Obamacare. In that state it is a crime to live without comprehensive health care insurance. You may not carry a policy with a high deductible. Those are two of the basic parts of Obamacare. As a result, costs in Mass. have soared through the roof.

Our Constitution is very clear on a limited federal government, and providing health care and other social services on a federal level are not what our founders intended. Before we debate socialized health care, we need to have an open, national discussion about socialist influences on America. We must openly acknowledge and discuss the ramifications of continuing down the path of centralized government and abandoning the Constitution as it was intended.

Town Hall Protests: Astroturf 2.0? A Who’s Who of the corporate-organized fight against healthcare reform. Healthcare Astroturf 2009 By Ben Buchwalter and Nikki Gloudeman This summer, town hall meetings to discuss health care reform have turned into battlegrounds — with fist fights, belligerent protestors, and at least one lawmaker reporting a death threat. Some Democrats have blamed the chaos on astroturf operations: fake grassroots groups funded by special interests.

What a surprise, another Obama plan falls into chaos. This time it’s the bureaucratic blunder known as the “Cash for Clunkers” program. From the very start this ill-conceived, poorly run wealth transfer program had no chance of success and will mercifully be put out of our misery on Monday. The one good thing that has emerged from this blunder is the crystal clear proof of how incapable the Obama administration is of running even the smallest of programs.

I left today open because I dreaded last night’s visitation and thought I’d be in no mood to blog. I’m glad I went. Visitations and funerals (that’s this afternoon) are to provide closure, but since I didn’t know Mike’s daughter it was really more about reconnecting with a dear friend and taking on a very small piece of the enormous pain he’s in. Before last night I couldn’t imagine that pain. Now I can because I’ve looked into the eyes of a man who just lost his 25-year-old daughter.

Ask around sometime or simply look at the polls and numbers. Directly following 9/11, an overwhelming majority of people were in favor of attacking any and everyone that may or may not harbor terrorists. Of course, this changed over the next 3 years when people realized that the political elite regardless of “party” affiliation were using this sad event to gain more profits. Soon people took to the streets in record numbers protesting GW.

I could hardly believe what I was reading: New York Governor David Paterson is blaming his current political maliase on an unnamed racist cabal of media reporters bent on destroying his career. He lumped in Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick, the only other black governor, as another racially-motivated target. Finally, he came to warn the President about the inevitable racist backlash against Our Dear leader because of his health care reform initiatives. Later, Paterson denied inferring any of that… kind of.

Not often you get to start and end a sentence with the word debunking but Obama provided us with the perfect opportunity. He’s out there “hammering away” at supposed republican myths. He claims that it’s not true that illegal immigrants will get health insurance under reform. He says this in spite of the fact that congress would not allow the republicans to add a measure that stated illegal immigrants would not be covered. And there are several youtube videos of Obama saying it is our moral obligation to cover illegals.

We already knew this, thanks to Rep. Zoe Lofgren and Barack Obama himself, but its nice to get confirmation from those fine folks at Factcheck.org an Annenberg project, no less. Pew Research uses statistical analysis to declare the obvious–bloggers on both sides of the debate are writing about health care reform, aka, ObamaCare. My friend Lance Burri rated a mention: Steven Pearlstein, writing a column in today’s Washington Post that is so atrocious you can almost hear the human refuse squishing up through the keys on his keyboard,” assessed Lance Burri at TrogloPundit. Thanks for the tip, Lance. If I ever meet Pearlstein, I’ll remember not to shake his hand.

… ObamaCare was put to sleep by a death panel: The American public. It has carefully read the three House bills and one Senate bill on the Internet and consequently is shaken. Numerous polls show a majority of persons desire Congress to scrap the plan and begin anew. A recent Rasmussen Report survey found that 54% of Americans don’t want Congress to vote on the measure this year. … It’s not merely the loud-mouths at the town brawl meetings who are opposed to the current bills; so are many open-minded people who have read the legislation cover to cover.

For health-care reform, 2009 wasn’t supposed to be a repeat of 1993-94. It would be different this time. That’s been the conventional wisdom 15 years after the defeat of First Lady Hillary Clinton’s ambitious plan, which badly shook her husband’s young presidency. This time, industry players were at the negotiating table from the outset, instead of plotting a blitz of attack ads. This time, the process of constructing a plan would be completed out in the open, in a half dozen congressional committees, instead of behind closed doors at the White House.
