It’s becoming clear that Barry Obama is in over his head.  In his early state visits, he committed a number of serious protocol blunders.  His second-in-command isn’t let out in public any more, afraid of what “crazy uncle Joe” might say. (”Hey, I found the secret bunker.  Wanna know where it is?”) The stimulus bill was put in place before he took office.  It’s not his, it’s Nancy Pelosi’s!  She pushed it through.  All Obama did was sign it and take credit for it.  Except that now that it’s not

If Democratic lawmakers thought all the furor over President Obama’s health care plan expressed this month at town hall meetings was dying down, they might be in for a surprise Saturday. That’s when citizens are planning anti-”Obamacare” rallies across the country Saturday in all 435 congressional districts. And their message is clear: We will not stand for socialized, government-controlled health care. The same groups who made the “tax tea parties” possible in April are behind this weekend’s movement.

Supporters of President Obama’s plan to overhaul the health system, in an acknowledged attempt to reverse growing opposition to the plan, are planning a fusillade of rallies and bus tours starting this week.Health Care for American Now, an umbrella organization of groups supporting Obama’s plan, is coordinating its efforts with Organizing for America, the Obama campaign organization now melded into the national Democratic Party, which reputedly has an e-mail list of up to 13 million names.Together, they plan 1,000 events before the congressional recess ends September 8.

Democrats own the House by 78 votes. Democrats own the White House. And they cannot pull off Obamacare?Democratic Sen. Russ Feingold told a townhall crowd on Monday in Mercer, Wisconsin: “Nobody is going to bring a bill before Christmas, and maybe not even then, if this ever happens. The divisions are so deep.

If Barack Obama saw this 30-second spot when it first got released, he can be forgiven for assuming that the advocacy group had explicitly endorsed his plans for overhauling the American health-care system.

Here’s an interesting credit crisis byproduct: The 50 million current Social Security recipients probably won’t see any extra SS income until 2012. In fact, millions on the government dime might see their monthly checks shrink. It all boils down to COLA — the government’s cost-of-living adjustment. Since consumer prices are — in theory, at least — deflating, the Social Security administration announced this weekend that they do not plan on a COLA for the next two years.

It would see the government — at least temporarily — pay 80 cents on the dollar to corporate and union insurance plans for claims between $15,000 and $90,000 for retirees age 55 to 64.

After speaking at a health care rally in Westwood last Saturday (still waiting to find out who “planted” me there, btw) I ended up in a conversation with three younger, left-leaning, pro Obamacare types who were videotaping the event. They seemed sincere enough, although I haven’t checked to see if I’ve been subjected to some creative editing somewhere on YouTube yet. On the rare occasions that I can have an actual dialogue with anyone on the subject, we can begin to explore the underlying personal philosophies that drive people on both sides of the debate over President Obama’s vision of health care reform.

Instead, as nearly three thousand of my constituents turned out to express their concerns about Obamacare, we held a second town hall each night for the folks who couldn’t get into the first ones. All in all, everyone was passionate but very civil with their questions and comments. What folks said in my four town halls was akin to what others have been repeating at gatherings all across America.

WSJ : Obama’s Summer of Discontent The politics of charisma is so Third World. Americans were never going to buy into it for long. It is odd that American liberalism, in a veritable state of insurrection during the Bush presidency, now seeks political quiescence. Casey in last Saturday’s Washington Post : President Obama has called for a serious and reasoned debate about his plans to overhaul the health-care system. Any such debate must include the question of whether it is constitutional for the federal government to adopt and implement the president’s proposals.

I think that one of the big differences between the Left and the Right is that the Left feels that the people have to be controlled, whereas the Right feels it is the government that needs to be controlled. Davy Crockett, in his famous Sockdolager , had a dialoge with one of his constituents… ” ‘No, Colonel, Congress has no right to give charity. Individual (Congress) members may give as much of their own money as they please, but they have no right to touch a dollar of the public money for that purpose.

Yes, I know it’s 3 AM, I just thought… well, the whole orderly staff thought a little early morning air would do you some good after all that commotion yesterday. I have to say you’re a pretty feisty old gal for 86! How’s that? You’re 78? Still, you should really take better care of yourself. Just look at those bags under your eyes! You’re no spring chicken and all that protesting just causes stress.

[Posted by Karl] At the very least, one of the Senate’s leading progressives knows what his constituents want to hear : U.S. Sen. Russ Feingold told a large crowd gathered for a listening session in Iron County last week there would likely be no health care bill before the end of the year – and perhaps not at all. It was an assessment Feingold said he didn’t like, but the prospect of no health care legislation brought a burst of applause from a packed house of nearly 150 citizens at the Mercer Community Center .

That’s true for any of the 1,000-plus-page versions of Obamacare.I’ve informed you in previous columns of two dirty secrets in Obamacare. Dirty secret No. 3 is the sin of omission. It’s what the health care bill doesn’t say that will bite you in the end.In 1,000-plus pages, there’s surprisingly sparse coverage or complete avoidance of a host of necessary issues.

I have said on here and Infidel’s Watch that there is NO way these massive bills (Stimulus, Cap and Trade, ObamaCare) were simply just written-up in the months he’s been in office. These were written long before he “won” the election … just sitting in wait for him to be sworn into office and handed the ink pen … Recall how quickly he began sigining things withing days … hours of being sworn in (both times).

I have to admit, I’m a bit puzzled by the Yahoo/Live Science report on polling on ObamaCare issues that Barack Obama calls “myths”.  I get the idea that they want to see how Obama’s pushback will sell with the American people, but it also presents a good opportunity to do some actual reporting and determine whether Obama is telling myths of his own.  Instead, the article blithely accepts Obama’s characterization, using scare quotes around the word myth as its only acknowledgment of dispute. As it

When dealing with Commies, there can be no compromises! New Column: Don’t Give Obamacare a Life Raft So here I am feeling a lot better about the possibility of rolling back Obama statism, when I come across an AP report that Sen. John McCain is throwing President Barack Obama a health care life raft. It’s official; the Beltway GOP simply can’t stand “prosperity.” Why can’t the senator read the tea leaves for once and realize America doesn’t want socialism? Why can’t he read history and understand that liberals never stop with socialism lite? Once in the door, the statist pushes it all the way open.

Canada’s former top doctor is ripping Canada’s socialized health care system. Bill O’Reilly: Dr. Day what is the biggest problem with your health care system? Dr. Brian Day: Well, the biggest problem is access. By access we have, in the Canadian system the first line of defense for a sick patient is the family doctor. And, in a population of 33 million Canadians 5 million Canadians do not have a family doctor. Bill O’Reilly: Is it because the doctors don’t get paid as well as doctors get paid as well in the United States? We have 30% more doctors per 100,000.

Looking to soothe markets that have gotten jittery after a brief, good run and, most of all, distract from today’s release of revised debt projections that were already delayed a month to coincide with the president’s vacation, President Obama today will announce that he is reappointing Ben Bernanke to another four-year term.
