We double-checked our calendar this morning to make sure that it wasn’t April 1st. Even we would have given the U.S. Chamber of Commerce enough credit to think that it would not deliberately set itself up on the wrong side of the “Scopes Monkey trial” . That’s the famous Tennessee case where William Jennings Bryan won the short-term battle for creationism, but Clarence Darrow won the war (and verdict of history) in defense of the understanding of evolution.

The seven reasons why the Republican party will win big in the 2010 election cycle. Reason #7 – Natural occurrence in electoral process. Nearly every election year after the Presidential election, the political party of the President, tends to lose seats in both the House of Representatives, and the United States Senate. The 2010 election cycle will be no different, as the economy continues to flutter, hundreds of thousands of Americans continue to lose their jobs, and the foreclosure rate looks bleak for the future.

A small grassroots group of conservatives turned out Friday at UCLA to let Rep. Henry Waxman, D-Van Nuys, know that they oppose congressional plans for a global warming tax on businesses and to take over the nation’s health care system, but Waxman wasn’t listening. Holding a selectively advertised “town hall” meeting where all the seats were reserved and several participants later said they had to submit to a questionnaire intended to screen audience members, Waxman apparently didn’t care to

That’s the opinion of Former CBO director Douglas Holtz-Eakin , according to the Washington Times. Apparently the updated 10 year budget projections, while trending towards the CBO’s $9.1 Trillion deficit estimate, selectively include and exclude the impacts of proposed legislation: Holtz-Eakin said that said the Obama administration wrongly assumes it will receive $640 billion in revenue from the creation of a cap-and-trade system for polluters, which would rely on the passage of an energy reform bill that many Democrats oppose, plus another $200 billion from a controversial proposal to tax international businesses.

Reading this post by Mickey Kaus made me realize something. The idea of postponing health care reform–until, say, the economy improves– doesn’t seem appealing to many Democrats now. But it might soon. The problem, as Michael Goodwin’s recent column points out, is that the issues waiting in the wings–should health care leave the stage–are even worse, from the Democrats’ political perspective.

Here’s one of the books Obama took with him to read while hiding from all those “angry mobs:” Yup, that’s right…it’s a Marxist, Tree-Hugging, Anthropogenic Glow-Bulls#@! Warming*, piece of Commie crap! Here are the mini “Cliff-Notes” for your edification—just so you know what Our Dark Overlord will be absorbing: *A nod of the head to Gramfan’s wordplay. This is the complete summary of the Book, Hot, Flat and Crowded by Thomas L Friedman.

And, I agree! That new 2 Trillion dollar bump in the 10-year forecast that Obama bombed us with on Friday—right before he ran out the door to go party in Martha’s Vineyard—is a portent of a financially devastated Federal budget. However, Obama is claiming to have saved us a cool $262 billion from the Stinkulus Package because he held on to that cash and didn’t hand it over to anyone.
