I challenge Democratic and Republican leaders, those in favor and those opposed to health care reforms, to submit to hostile interviews with journalists that oppose their view on health care. Sometimes, I must confess, I find myself feeling like one of those cursed individuals like Job and Sisyphus. In my case, the curse takes the form of trying to be rational in a mad world. My particular albatross is trying to make sense of the liberal mind. No sooner do I try to delve into it than I pop out on the other side. It’s as shallow as a midget’s footbath. For instance, I understand why liberals opposed invading Iraq. It was because George W.

27th August 2009, 01:07 pm Among friend and ideological foe alike, who cannot but admire the courage Ted Kennedy exhibited this past year as he tirelessly soldiered on, while battling brain cancer? Throughout it all, he asked for no pity and demonstrated a remarkable assiduity of purpose and resolve as he attempted to continue on with his duties as a major player in the Democratic Party.

Senator Kennedy has not even been dead for two full days and hte Democrats are re-animating his corpse to speak out on health care reform and to rally the “troops”. “Ted Kennedy’s dream of quality health care for all Americans will be made real this year because of his leadership and his inspiration,” said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in a statement. Pelosi’s sentiment was echoed by former vice president Al Gore who served with Kennedy in the Senate.

Liberal Christian Obama supporter Jim Wallis debated FRC’s Tony Perkins on CNN’s Lou Dobbs show August 25. In that segment Wallis admitted: … There is a consensus in the faith community that federal funds should be prohibited from paying for abortions in a healthcare bill. That’s where we have to go. Are all the bills clear on that now? Not yet. They’re making progress on the Hill. We’re not there yet …. The president has said that he doesn’t want federal funds to pay for abortions….

There has been a lot of talk about health care reform over the past month: much of the information has been repetitive, not based in fact, or purely sensationalist. However, there have been some well-written and meaningful pieces that have emerged above the din. I’d like to highlight a few of them here: August 9, 2009 – NY Times – Robert Pear and David Herszenhorn – “A Primer on the Details of Health Care Reform” This is a relatively concise and unbiased article covering some of the main issues of the Congressional health care reform proposals.

Declan McCullagh CBS News Thursday, August 27, 2009 One of the problems with any proposed law that’s over 1,000 pages long and constantly changing is that much deviltry can lie in the details. Take the Democrats’ proposal to rewrite health care policy, better known as H.R. 3200 or by opponents as “Obamacare.” (Here’s our CBS News television coverage .) Section 431(a) of the bill says that the IRS must divulge taxpayer identity information, including the filing status, the modified adjusted gross income, the number of dependents, and “other information as is prescribed by” regulation.

Tanner on “America’s Morning Show.” Michael is a Senior Fellow at the CATO institute and “heads research into a variety of domestic policies with a particular emphasis on health care reform.” Michael and I discuss some of the particulars of H.R. 3200, and how it would lead to rationed care and increased costs for the majority of Americans. I had originally missed the first article in Ann Coulter’s series, but I went back and read it after reading her brilliant second article in the same series. Coulter brilliantly makes the case for the efficiencies of the marketplace versus the inefficiencies of government control. The bottom line is that our health care is in the miss it’s in now because we already have too much government control, not too little.

From the early days of the campaign until now, we have learned Barack Hussein Obama is on a mission of tragedy. A selfish mission to transform the US into some ideal classroom fantasy framed upon his misconception of Socialism. Understanding his motive to tear down the existing framework we see that Obama slipped through a bill that turns the nation’s remembrance of September 11th into a perverse celebration of Socialism.

With the public plan in ObamaCare attracting enough heat to melt steel girders, some moderates in the Senate have proposed replacing it with health insurance co-operatives. The idea dates back several decades and was instrumental in FDR’s program of modernizing energy distribution in rural areas, and Kent Conrad (D-ND) says that example should light the way for an overhaul of the health-care system as well. However, as the Washington Post reports, the track record of those co-operatives hardly gives confidence that they’ll work as intended or prevent government control of health care as a result:Sen.

Yes, it’s back for one morning only. Before I get to the meat of the matter, I must point you to some heartfelt words from Emperor Misha I to the remainder of the Kennedy family . For them, the late Senator was not Senator, but family. Now that the 24-hour period of “mandatory niceness” is officially over (hell, it barely begun before Nancy Pelosi declared a unilateral end by demanding that ObamaCare the Chappaquiddic Memorial Death Panels Bill be passed in his name), we need music.

Love the title. I said in my last post that although I don’t like some of Randall Terry’s antics, he is helping fuel the tension about abortion in any healthcare plan. It takes a village, as someone once said. The combination of pro-life citizens at town hall meetings asking the abortion question (as I personally witnessed at a town hall meeting last week, when well over half the questions and comments were about abortion), calls, emails, letters to congresspersons, protests outside offices of town hall-challenged wimps of Democrat congresspersons, letters to the editor in newspapers, and posts, articles, columns, and dialogue on the Internet are creating a crescendo.

That information will be provided to the new Health Choices Commissioner and state health programs and used to determine who qualifies for “affordability credits.” Section 245(b)(2)(A) says the IRS must divulge tax return details — there’s no specified limit on what’s available or unavailable — to the Health Choices Commissioner.

A new Republican fundraising letter contains yet another lie about health care reform: Raymond and Louise Denny of La Center were surprised last week to receive a mailing from Michael Steele, chairman of the Republican National Committee, entitled “2009 Future of American Health Survey.” After reading it, their surprise turned to outrage. They were especially irked by the following: “It has been suggested that the government could use voter registration to determine a person’s political affiliation, prompting fears that GOP voters might be discriminated against for medical treatment in a Democrat-imposed health care rationing system.

I’ve always been fascinated by the way in which language can degrade, especially when the object of a given word or phrase is not held in high esteem. For example, the word spinster simply used to mean a woman who spun thread. Over the years, the word came to mean an unmarried woman (it was the legal term on wedding documents in Victorian England). It has ended up meaning a dessicated, barren virgin. Another word that made an even more extreme transition in meaning is “beldam.” Its origin is the medieval French phrase “ belle dam ,” which translates to “beautiful mother” (or grandmother). Its current meaning, of course, is ugly old hag.

And now for the most comical, absurd and idiotic comment from the Town Hall meeting for the 8th District of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Does anyone really wonder why Obama and the Democrats have lost the PR battle for Obamacare? Watch the following video. In his most recent (August 22, 2009) weekly radio address, President Obama railed about the supposed “outrageous myths” surrounding his plan for Health Insurance Reconstruction , a plan that is often shilled as Healthcare Reform. One of the things he attempted to refute was that illegal immigrants would be covered under ObamaCare. From Reuters (Washington, DC): Today, I want to spend a few minutes debunking some of the more outrageous myths circulating on the Internet, on cable TV, and repeated at some town halls across this country.

Boycotts don’t work. Boycotts rarely, if ever, achieve the goal(s) set out for them, in large part because boycott organizers lack clear goals for what response the boycott is supposed to trigger and especially for what the boycotting action has to demonstrate in order to be seen as “successful”. So I’ve got a proposal, for those who want to use a boycott to show Whole Foods that they disagree with John Mackey’s comments about Obamacare : Boycott Whole Foods , and do it in a S.M.A.R.T.

Heh . Hope Big Pharma hasn’t made those ad buys yet. As the health care debate focuses on whether cost cuts are looming in Medicare coverage, Representative Henry A. Waxman is on a crusade to save Medicare billions of dollars — in a way that he says would end up helping the elderly. That is because the money would come from the drug industry, which is why Mr. Waxman may have a fight on his hands. Drug makers contend they have already worked out a 10-year, $80 billion cost-savings deal with the White House and crucial Senate gatekeepers on the trillion-dollar health care overhaul.

Let’s take a peek at the events that have transpired since Ted Kennedy died yesterday, shall we? Chris Matthews got another thrill down his leg by declaring that (a) health care protestors at the town hall are basically Lee Harvey Oswalds; and (b) Obama is now the last remaining Kennedy brother. Oswald was a commie…just sayin’. But if B.O. is the last Kennedy brother, hopefully Michelle won’t be letting Barry drive a convertible over a bridge anytime soon, especially this week at Marxist’s Vineyard.
