My children are not condemned to attendance at LAUSD “schools,” so I have not been following the particulars of this controversy . But it is remarkable in several more general ways. One is the recognition that government policies, under the control of dyed-in-the-wool liberals, have essentially destroyed the schools. In that sense, the schools are not that different from other aspects of life under the control of municipal unions and liberal big-city politicians.

This really hasn’t gotten as much play as it should, but at least part of the opposition to President Obama’s attempt to “reform” health care is opposition to anything which would either increase the availability of abortion or put the government in the position of paying for abortions. The site Get Religion , which specializes in covering secular journalism concerning religion, addresses the issue: Yep, Catholic Church still pro-life Posted by Mollie We’ve been complaining a bit about the meager inclusion of religion angles in some of the political coverage of the various legislative efforts to reform health care and health insurance.

Liberal icon and former New York governor Mario Cuomo has openly criticized Barack Obama’s prioritizing health care reform over fixing the American economy. “First of all, I think, looking back, it might have been better if the President concentrated on the economy first, and dealt with the economic problem more completely than he has so far,” [...]

See Part I Beck to the Future: Glen Beck Exposes Dangerous Link Between Nazi Eugenics and ObamaCare Reform Experts By Peter J. SmithWASHINGTON, D.C., August 27, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Germany’s experience with National Socialism is one of the darker moments of human history. FOX News host Glenn Beck has taken on the challenge of applying the lessons of Nazi Germany (government-controlled health care, combined with the principle of valuing human beings based on “quality of life” and a severe

It’s come to this: Dems task Teddy’s grandson with leading funeral prayer for ObamaCare HOT AIR The boss has been writing about the left’s use of kids as sympathetic “human shields” for their policies for years and years, but even so, I’m amazed. I thought the moral authority of the religious setting would create enough cover for Obama or whoever to toss a few bones to health care in their eulogies; I guess, like Karl says, they were skittish after the Wellstone memorial fiasco and figured they couldn’t take any chances.

WASHINGTON, D.C., August 27, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) – “Question with boldness.” That is the motto of radio host and FOX News television host Glenn Beck, who says he asks questions no different than ordinary Americans – he just has an army of researchers to help him explore these questions. But what the question explores is the disturbing relationship between eugenics, Nazism, and the imposition of Obama’s health care plan upon the United States.Like the old adage “those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it,” Beck has looked back to the past to get a glimpse of the future….

From KTVB : Sen. Dean Cameron, R-Rupert and chairman of the Joint Finance-Appropriations budget committee, told the Times-News that July tax revenue that was about $27 million shy of the same period in 2008 could force the 2010 Legislature into difficult choices. Cameron says, “Now it’s going to force us to discuss what programs are necessary…and maybe even eliminate agencies.” Cameron declined to name what agencies might be dumped. Finally! It appears that the polls have finally caught up our representatives.

19 states and 11 countries – And Obama has flown on Air Force One to some states multiple times in his first seven months in office. Seven months after taking the oath of office, President Obama on Sunday began his first vacation, traveling to this tony hideaway for Hollywood stars, the wealthy and the occasional politician. As the president and his family headed to Martha’s Vineyard, a surprise visitor ambled through the press cabin on Air Force One: Bo, the First Dog, along for the vacation.

In this time of bitter partisanship, there are still a few issues that Republicans, Democrats and Independents can agree on. One of those issues is providing taxpayer-subsidized benefits to illegal aliens. The American people are overwhelmingly opposed to the idea.More Information:My friend, Gary Bauer, writes:To give you some sense of the issue’s potency, consider the results of a June poll by Scott Rasmussen, conducted as the healthcare reform debate was getting started.

There is something to be said for communication skills in this modern day and age of politics. Part of the GOP’s problem over the last few years can be pinned to the lack of effective communication of their message. For unknown reasons some politicians just don’t seem to be able to tell people EXACTLY what they need to. To be sure President Bush will never be confused with Ronald Reagan but then again every person has their strengths and weaknesses.

Ezra Klein has his undies in a bundle because Charles Krauthammer looks into his crystal ball and sees a grim but plausible of the wreck we have come to know as ObamaCare. Krauthammer envisions a pseudo-nationalized health insurance industry run entirely through private insurers. Krauthammer calls this ObamaCare 2.0. The insurance companies, despite their public flogging, will end up living large, costs will continue to explode and in the end we will end up with the same rationing we would have had through ObamaCare 1.0.

How Did We Start to Lose Our Culture? By way of an answer , we can view the National Association of Scholars posting of a “Pajamas Media TV, a 13-minute video in which Bill Whittle chronicles the rise of political correctness since the Frankfurt School and the rise of ‘critical theory.’” Conservatives and the center-right generally are doing their utmost these days to treat the simultaneous afflictions of Obamacare, Cap-and-Tax, a shaky national-security posture, and the shameless advancing of statism.

The GOP has pushed its argument regarding the uselessness of government the logical conclusion: It has adopted a political platform that urges the abolition of the United States military, public schools, fire and police departments and the entire federal government. Dissenting Justice has been investigating the details of this developing story for over two weeks. Today, the GOP has authorized Dissenting Justice to release information regarding the plan.

Shortly after the Congressional Research Service released their report on the treatment of noncitizens in the House health care bill, the anti-immigrant hate group, Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), was already patting itself on the back. “Case closed. Illegal aliens will be eligible to participate in the health care program offered by the House bill unless Congress acts to amend the bill,” stated Dan Stein, president of FAIR.

The more the Democrats deny it, the more obvious it becomes that Obamacare will of course cover illegal aliens. I said so last month. And now
GOP Rep. Lamar Smith of Texas, citing a new, non-partisan Congressional Research Service report, says it again: Democrats can keep claiming all they want that illegal immigrants will not be covered in this bill. But their actions speak louder than their words. Democrats have rejected opportunities to close the gaping loopholes in this health care bill that will allow illegal immigrants to participate.

Not that I had any great amount of affection for the now-deceased senior Senator from Taxachusetts…I mean, Massachusetts, but I found myself these last few days tuning in on occasion to watch the “grand celebration” of Ted Kennedy’s life and achievements. Actually, it wasn’t like a person could avoid having to watch something about the guy, given the hagiographic orgy of storytelling the mainstream media was indulging in over the fellow.

Mike Enzi (R-WY) has taken plenty of heat from his conservative constituents for attempting to hammer out a bipartisan health-care reform bill in the Senate. However, Enzi appears frustrated not with Wyoming voters but with the Democrats on the other side of the table. With just a few days left before Congress resumes work, Enzi blasted the Democrats for spending too much money and limiting patient choice, when what America needs is the exact opposite: A leading GOP negotiator on health care

Day By Day by Chris Muir Yes, Chris, isn’t the emergency internet take-over bill in line with Obama’s game plan to neutralize any dissent to his “Hope and Change?” I mean Obama already has NBC and ABC in his hip pocket – one example being their refusal to accept anti-Obamacare television ads. This kind of government power grab of the internet is just plain scary.

A few weeks ago I emailed our district’s Congressman and asked if he was having a Town Hall Meeting and if so, when and where it would be. I received a canned email back about the wonders of the proposed Obamacare. So, I replied back and asked if they could please answer my question, which was when and where his Town Hall Meeting would be. I never received an answer to my second email. Then I heard from our favorite local Christian talk radio show host, Adam McManus, on KSLR , 630 AM, that Ciro Rodriguez’s Town Hall Meeting was scheduled for 11:30 a.m.

Boy, was I stupid. It turns out that socialized medicine really is a great idea. See, socialized medicine is just like the Coast Guard or your local fire department. It will mean more money to provide health care because the system won’t be handicapped by rich people who want a profit and executives who want big bonuses.Who knew that this kind of crap was going on in the current system?!?Now I really feel embarrassed. Thank God this guy Andy made a video to explain to me how wrong I have been.

As the Democrats prepare to round up 50 Senate votes for the public option, things are looking good. Depending on who is doing the nose-counting, Obama already has 45-46 committed votes, and has another 15 or so people he can ask for the last few votes, most of them Democrats. Two of the pivotal maybe votes are Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor of Arkansas. Arkansas despises Obama. Not only did he lose the state by 20 points, but a comparison of the 2004 and 2008 elections showed that Arkansas was one of the places in which Obama lost the most ground for the Democrats.

Gosh, kinda hard to tell, but on balance: Yeah, probably, although they can’t get it at the lowest possible rate. From Big Hollywood : …Obama debunked “disinformation” alleging that illegal aliens would be eligible for the proposed plan. “That’s not true,” he objected, “There’s a specific provision in the bill that does not provide health insurance for those individuals.” Let’s take a look at the text, shall we? The provision he cited is located on page 143 and reads as follows: SEC.

www.cbsnews.com Posted by Declan McCullagh One of the problems with any proposed law that’s over 1,000 pages long and constantly changing is that much deviltry can lie in the details. Take the Democrats’ proposal to rewrite health care policy, better known as H.R. 3200 or by opponents as “Obamacare.” (Here’s our CBS News television coverage.) Section 431(a) of the bill says that the IRS must divulge taxpayer identity information, including the filing status, the modified adjusted gross income, the number of dependents, and “other information as is prescribed by” regulation.

Liberals cant stop talking about death panels. Sarah Palin introduced the term on her Facebook page to describe the likelihood that faceless Obamacare bureaucrats would decide peoples fates. Predictably, Mrs. Palin is being assailed from every corner of the media for providing the catch phrase for what everyone else is thinking. When your opponents keep repeating your talking point, youve pretty much won the argument. The more that liberals deny their plan will hatch death panels, the more folks catch on to the dangers of a government-run health system.

In their recently released “Health Care Bill of Rights for Seniors,” it seems that the GOP has embraced Medicare. Several of their points were based on the premise that the federal government should not be making any changes to Medicare. It specifically targets seniors. Is this not a change of heart for the GOP? I thought they considered Medicare as a socialist failure. In other words, they wanted to kill the program. The answer is simple. They do not have any love for the program. They

On Tuesday, August 25th, 2009, Rep. Jim Moran (D-VA) hosted a Town Hall meeting on ObamaCare at the South Lakes High School in Reston, VA. As could be expected in these times of increased political involvement by the People, the turn-out was large and included both supporters of nationalized health insurance and its opponents. A trifecta from Grandpa Steve: he takes an embarrassing and uncomfortable topic; uses a fun local sports tradition to illustrate that topic (thus making it impossible for me to ever watch that fun local sports tradition without being reminded of the embarrassing and uncomfortable topic); and makes a really, really bad pun. Twice. Personally, I’d love to see some bipartisanship in the Obamacare debate. If that means liberals coming over to my side, that is.

Need a (nother) reason not to trust Congress on health care reform? We’ve all heard about HR 3200, the House version. Time to Stand Against Cass Sunstein : When the Senate returns to business next month, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has already announced that one of the first orders of business will be to try to ram through the nomination of Cass Sunstein for the nation’s “Regulatory Czar.” Earlier this month, Senate Republicans had blocked a unanimous consent resolution to approve Sunstein.
