Those of us who oppose a massive increase in the role the national government plays in health care (“ObamaCare”) do so because we fear the immense and unsustainable national debt it would incur and because we are certain that medical care in America would deteriorate. What this means is that Washington’s out-of-control spending likely will turn the nation’s already-staggering $11 trillion in debt into an astronomical $20 trillion.

As I’ve been listening to various talk radio programs I’ve heard the following new meme proffered by Obamacare supporters, at least four times in the past 48 hours: We have to pass a government option!  2/3rds of the bankruptcies in the US are caused by medical bills! The basis for this argument is found in this recent study in the American Journal of Medicine.  A snippet of the conclusion of the study is as follows: Using a conservative definition, 62.1% of all bankruptcies in 2007 were medical; 92% of these medical debtors had medical debts over $5000, or 10% of pretax family income.

The proponents of ObamaCare just can’t catch a break. What’s the single most important reason for Obama wanting to dramatically alter our health care delivery system? To make it more affordable. Problem is, every remedy the guy has come up with has proven to either make things worse or be ineffectual.

An important and very timely pair of new studies by the Rand corporation shows that retail health clinics do as good or better job as doctor’s offices as greatly reduced prices: Retail clinics — free-standing, walk-in medical providers located in drug stores, shopping malls and stores like Wal-Mart, Target and Walgreens — are rapidly becoming to the health-care industry what Fotomat was to the camera world.

Regardless of the outcome of ObamaCare, if past behavior signals the future, the Obama administration’s next big push will be to mute its most successful critics. It will come as no surprise when ObamaCare proponents invoke the name of Ted Kennedy to promote passage of a healthcare reform bill when Congress reconvenes. “Let’s win one for the Gipper” will become “Let’s win one for ol’ Teddy.” But will that alone tip the balance in favor of healthcare reform as represented in the House’s version? I frequently get asked why I hate Barak Obama (BO).  People misunderstand.  I don’t hate him.  I detest the man’s ideas and policies.  I want him out of the White House now but I don’t want a single hair of his head harmed.  I have two reasons for this.  Firstly, something happening to him would be a disaster for this country that he and MO hate and I love.  I see lots of things in this country that need improvement but he sees tearing the country down as the fix rather than fixing what is broken.

President Obama never ceases to amaze either the United States or various countries throughout the world.  Right now he is on vacation at Martha’s Vineyard.  They are naming Taco and various drinks after him ….along with a whole bunch of commemorative T-Shirts.The President has been banging away at his now famous Health Care Plan.  They call it: “Obamacare” in spite of the fact…..that the President extols the virtues for the 47 Million without Heathcare…..not much to do with his own families

I have been intrigued a bit to watch the debates unfold between several folks from the left and several folks from the “no government” perspective. What intrigues me is the opportunity to see things from the perspective of someone who believes that socialism is the way to go. It isn’t just an argument that health care, or a single issue, should be one way, but an actual claim that what we have doesn’t work so they are willing to give socialism a shot because they think it would be better for the American people.

The Politico is reporting that conservative columnist George Will makes a plea in his next column to President Obama and military commanders to pull troops out of Afghanistan. This coming on the heels of Secretary Robert Gates not being able to answer in the affirmative if we are winning in Afghanistan. Troops in Afghanistan July and August have been the costliest in terms of lives lost since the war in Afghanistan began back in 2001. I noted a while ago Senator Edward Kennedy’s request that the Massachusetts state legislature change the law on the filling of United States Senate seat vacancies. Well, Mr Kennedy probably knew that his time remaining was pretty short, because he died just a week later. But note the timeline. The state legislature changed the law, taking away the governor’s power to appoint an interim senator, because they thought/ hoped that Senator John Kerry would be resigning his seat to become president, and they didn’t want the governor, who was a Republican, to appoint his replacement.
