Team Obama really is incredibly naive. They spent all year in the background on all their key issues by letting lose the fanatical left wing of the party to run amok on the faux stimulus bill, taxing energy to battle science fiction BS and to destroy the world’s premier health care system and replace it with government rationed health care for the worthy.

Politico : Under fire, Obama shifts strategy : Obama is considering detailing his health-care demands in a major speech as soon as next week, when Congress returns from the August recess. And although House leaders have said their members will demand the inclusion of a public insurance option, Obama has no plans to insist on it himself, the officials said.

I observed the man in the video speaking to anyone who would listen before Monday night’s town hall meeting hosted by Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) in Skokie. Among other things, his coaching explains the spontaneous “Health Care Now” chant at the end of the town hall. He is an organizer for Health Care for America Now, a pro ObamaCare group. They were a troublesome presence that evening. Along with SEIU, they waved their signs at motorists driving on busy Oakton Avenue, that activity of course compels drivers to take their eyes off the road.

I’m cynically amused at calls by former President Clinton and former Vice-President Gore for the passage of health care reforms currently making their way through Congress. Both Gore and Clinton urged the party faithful to back their congressmen to get health care reform passed this year. “We need to pass a bill this year. Sometimes, a person is able to accomplish more in death than they were in life.  The courageous stand at the Alamo became a rallying cry that defeated the Mexican army.  Sometimes, the death of a strong advocate can end the cause.  When looking at Sen Kennedy, regardless of what you think of him as a man and as a politician, there is no denying he had a strong influence on the debate.  For good or ill, Sen Kennedy was a pivotal player with tremendous influence.  His death has the potential to either get a bill passed or sink the remaining hope.  History will look back and see the latter, not the former.

There are days when I really miss reading a “dead-tree” newspaper, sipping coffee as I read the news.  Yesterday, after an early morning hike with my Dad and his friends to celebrate his birthday, I did just that, alternating between the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times . The “remaking” of America continues at breakneck speed. The man who occupies the Oval Office has made an appeal to the American people that the time for discussion is over and that socialized medicine in the form of so-called healthcare reform must be passed now. He said, “This is a problem we can no longer wait to fix. Deferring reform is nothing more than defending the status quo – and those who would oppose our efforts should take a hard look at just what it is they’re defending.” Of course, there have been several news stories that the 1,018 page healthcare legislation has not even been read by the Congressmen who will vote on it.

Again…welcome to my blog , although some would not dare call it that since I am not sufficiently “intimate” in the details of my life. Personally, I don’t imagine most folks are interested in how many times I “tweet” ever day (how about zero?), where I stopped to buy gas, or whether I drink Zero Coke or Diet Pepsi. One’s private activities take a back seat to weightier matters of what is going on in the world and the church. That is basically what this newsletter/blog is about, although I do try to spice it up with a smiley face once in a while.

Any doubt as to why people are pissed?

CNN came out with a truly crushing poll for Obama and the Democrats in Congress. As I noted in an earlier post , the 1994 Congressional drubbing the Dems took over Hillarycare is nothing compared to what they will reap over Obamacare and Obamanomics in 2010. The one thing that probablty cushioned Bill Clinton’s from an even more crushing backlash by the voters was a screaming, growing economy (which would later burst with the dot.com bubble bust).

I spoke with thousands of voters at town-hall meetings this summer. What I gathered from them is that it’s not just the proposed overhaul of health care that has them upset. Many also expressed a sense of betrayal. In spite of their hope for change, it still appears that the government in Washington is run for its own benefit and the benefit of special interests—not for the benefit of the American people. The folks I met with also don’t trust politicians in Washington to address mounting long-term challenges to our economy.

As the August recess comes to a close and the politicians return to Washington to begin creating laws we don’t need or desire, I was thinking this week about what the autumn of 2009 will bring… In just a few short months we have seen massive government expansion at the hands of the liberal Democrats and a ultra-liberal President.

Incredible how much the days since Ted Kennedy’s death have been dominated by revelations about his apparently deeply felt Roman Catholicism—from a priest’s account of the senator’s final hours to the decision to hold his funeral at an out-of-the-way church where Kennedy sought healing to stories of how his faith begat his political passions. At Kennedy’s burial on Saturday came another revelation, as Washington, D.C., Archbishop Emeritus Theodore McCarrick read from a poignant letter that President Obama delivered from Kennedy to Pope Benedict XVI last month, along with portions of the Vatican’s reply.

He’s telling them to (literally) shout down any town hall questioners who dare to question The One and his socialization of our nation’s health care system. If they hear a non-supportive questioner expressing his or her opinion, they’re supposed to stand up and start shouting, “Health care now! Health care now!” It’s like a scene from George Orwell’s Animal Farm come to life. An animal starts questioning the wisdom of the pig overlords and the sheep start shouting the same phrase over and over to shut said animal down.

The saga of health care reform is beginning to seem like a soap opera.  Twists and turns occur on a daily basis.  I thought about adding fuel to the fire by speculating about what might happen (as I have done in the past), but thought it might be more helpful to provide some background and facts.  I realize that in doing so, I run the risk of offending everyone.  That is not my intent.  I simply want to dispel some false rumors by providing information.  To the extent that any bias of mine has

Forgoing a town hall meeting like the rest of his colleagues in Congress, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) hosted an “invitation only,” no questions allowed health care reform rally at UNLV Monday night. Joining the “very controlled environment” were health care reform supporting union members and health care industry workers in order to prevent the spineless senator from having to face his upset constitutents – and likely to help boost Harry’s morale.
