In a section innocuously titled “School-Based Health Clinics,” the House bill, H.R. 3200 , seems to set up Democrats to invite groups like Planned Parenthood into our schools to serve as a school “health clinic.” (‘Sec. 399Z-1. School-Based Health Clinics.) And even more insidiously the bill provides for these “clinics” to be initiated immediately — effective date to be July 1, 2010 — whereas much of the rest of H.R. 3200 does not take effect until 2013.

  Note:  If your email software garbles this message you can find the complete text on the OFNetwork website. ******************************************************************************************************************************************************** I’ve not read the House bill (HR3200) as I’m not sure I could get through 100 much less 1000 pages of ‘Congressionalese’ (i.e., the language of Congress).  but here’s something that cropped up (thanks to a contributor) that I was unaware of.  The only question, as with all of the rhetoric surrounding this issue, is what is the truth here?  Note that this an an Opinion article, not necessarily a “News” article.

Members of Congress returned to Washington this week after an August full of townhall meetings where the American people made their voices heard in record numbers. People expressed concerns over health care reform, the global warming tax, bailouts, and the growing number of “czars.”   But, were any of our elected leaders actually listening?   On Wednesday night, President Obama made another speech on health care to a joint session of Congress – renewing his call for a government-run health care plan.

Local conservatives sent around an e-mail last night trying to get people to show up at the state Capitol this morning for a Tea Party event. The e-mail notes that the events are being publicized nationally by Fox News hosts Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity. (Yes, it said publicized .) For folks who may wonder where demonstrators come up with ideas for those clever signs, the e-mail offered up some suggestions: You can’t spend your way out of debt. Yes we can – stop the bailouts! Money doesn’t grow on trees, some of us work for it.

The Coast Guard ran a training exercise today.  It was routine in every way except that President Obama was involved in a 9/11 memorial in the same general area as the exercise.  Oh, and nobody told CNN that it was a training exercise. Based on what they had heard on scanners that overheard the Coast Guard communications, CNN began reporting that the Coast Guard was pursuing a boat on the Potomac and that shots had been fired.  Needless to say, the reporting caused a bit of a stir.

During the president’s Thursday address to a joint session of congress, Rep. Joe Wilson (R. SC) could have yelled Fabricator! or Dissembler! or Fibber! or Prevaricator! or Falsifier!  However, none of those alternatives would have had quite the impact of what Wilson did blurt out, namely the fine old, straightforward, Middle English word, ”Liar!” although all the above synomyms are applicable.

In light of the events with the Wilson incident during Mr. Obama’s presentation to the American people and Congress for his health care agendas, it appears that the mainstream media, particularly the AP, are now doing the polka for the policians involved in this incident. From a report published today by the AP, it appears that supposedly there WAS a provision within that 1,000 page bill that provided for illegal immigrants health care needs, and that those involved in its drafting are going through it with a fine tooth comb in order that those provisions get redrafted and removed.

The Obama BS machine was in overdrive on Wednesday though, and as long as there are a few decoy bills floating around, Obama can actually make the claim that illegal aliens would not be covered under his plan. He had to say it because he knows nobody wants that to happen , except the usual ethno-suspects. Technically, he’s right, because he doesn’t have a plan! The plan is actually HR3200, the house bill that would be the one ultimately signed into law. Don’t let anyone tell you different.

I can’t condone Representative Joe Wilson (R-SC) yelling out “you lie,” when President Obama was saying that the health care plan would not pay for illegal immigration.  It was inappropriate.  It was also disrespectful to the President.  It violated Congressional decorum. Even though President Obama was misleading the American people on this issue ( one of several issues ) Congressman Wilson should not have yelled it out.  Many of us were likely thinking it, I know I was, but a Joint Session of Congress isn’t a town hall meeting.  You shouldn’t even yell that at the President then.

According to the top 50 or so Google results, President Obama’s speech to a joint session of Congress drew a TV audience of 52 million . Oops! That was last February’s speech to a joint session of Congress. It took a bit of digging to determine that the speech this week had a much smaller audience of 32 million , down roughly 40% from earlier this year. So Obama’s ratings appear to be down. But wait! a CNN poll said that Obama’s speech wowed his audience, with a 14 point gain in approval of Obamacare.

There is nothing in the U.S. Constitution regarding the establishment of health care by the federal government. In fact, it states those types of issues are for the State and people to resolve. ObamaCare is UNCONSTITUTIONAL. Plain and simple. Either we adhere to the Constitution or we don’t. Well, obviously, we aren’t. The Congressional Budget Office says in their estimation that the House plan to just cover the uninsured with health care would cost the U.S.

In the heated debates on health-care reform, not enough attention is being paid to the huge financial windfalls ObamaCare will dole out to unions—or to the provisions in the various bills in Congress that will help bring about the forced unionization of the health-care industry. Tucked away in thousands of pages of complex new rules, regulations and mandates are special privileges and giveaways that could have devastating consequences for the health-care sector and the American economy at large.

This letter is in response to the editorial “The speech of our lives” (September 9, 2009). I’m wondering if the Post Dispatch is a recpient of the White House talking points or if you are just as disingenous as they are. I find it amusing that all the proponents of Obamacare continue to speak ill of all these “special interest” groups trying to kill reform and how Republicans are so beholden to them. Really? Did you forget about the trial lawyers? Howard Dean admitted that liberals and trial lawyers are one in the same.

By Charles Charpentier, On Tuesday, the Senate health committee voted 12-11 in favor of a two-page amendment, courtesy of Republican Tom Coburn which would require all Members of Congress and their staff members to enroll in any new government-run health plan. Congressman John Fleming has proposed an amendment that would require Congressmen and Senators to take the same health care plan that they would force on us. (Under proposed legislation they are exempt.) Congressman Fleming is encouraging people to go to his Website and sign his petition.
