By W.C. Varones ~ September 16th, 2009 @ 5:25 am Jimmy Carter: People who oppose ObamaCare are racist.“I think an overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity toward President Obama is based on the fact that he is a black man, that he’s African-American. I live in the South, and I’ve seen the South come a long way, and I’ve seen the rest of the country that share the South’s attitude toward minority groups at that time, particularly African Americans. That racism inclination still exists.

Is there a gas leak  in here? What the hell is going on lately? You’ve got Joe Wilson screaming at President Obama.  Serena Williams melts down at the US Open, swearing at and threatening a line judge.   Kanye West jumps the stage at some MTV awards show taking the microphone from the surprised winner and berates the crowd because Beyonce didn’t win.  On Saturday,  thousands  ( not millions, not even hundreds of thousands) marched on Washington, still quivering with anger and screaming that they want their country back and that Muslims were taking over Washington.

Health-Care Reform and the Constitution by Andrew P. Napolitano WallStreetJournal.com SEPTEMBER 15, 2009 Last week, I asked South Carolina Congressman James Clyburn, the third-ranking Democrat in the House of Representatives, where in the Constitution it authorizes the federal government to regulate the delivery of health care. He replied: “There’s nothing in the Constitution that says that the federal government has anything to do with most of the stuff we do.” Then he shot back: “How about [you] show me where in the Constitution it prohibits the federal government from doing this?” Rep.

-By Warner Todd Huston This is a pretty stunning admission, but now even the left-wing Associated Press is admitting that if Obamacare gets passed there will be a major doctor shortage that won’t soon be resolved because of the crush of new patients. The AP posted a piece Sunday that warns that Obamacare will make worse the national shortage of primary care physicians using experience of RomneyCare in Massachusetts as a cautionary example.

-By Warner Todd Huston The Associated Press is reporting that Democratic lawmakers are having trouble adding any of Obama’s prescriptions for the nation’s healthcare troubles after the president’s speech delivered before a joint session of Congress last week. Not only are they having troubles adding Obama’s ideas at this late date, some Congressmen are even saying it is impossible to do so. Many have no desire to do so. Rep.

Obama says that he won’t sign a healthcare bill that adds one dime to the deficit. I hope he’s right about that, because the people who are financing that deficit are a tad bit worried about the prospect: And yet, there was budget director Peter Orszag rushing to a lunch with Chinese bureaucrats on a Monday in late July. To his surprise, when Orszag arrived at the site of the annual U.S.-China Strategic and Economic Dialogue (S&ED), the Chinese didn’t dwell on the Wall Street meltdown or the global recession.

T he Democrats have made the claim that the AMA, doctors and nurses all support the Obama plan for health care reform. But if a new IBD/TIPP poll is to believed , it is possible a large number of doctors would leave their practice if the present version of health care reform was passed: Two of every three practicing physicians oppose the medical overhaul plan under consideration in Washington, and hundreds of thousands would think about shutting down their practices or retiring early if it were adopted, a new IBD/TIPP Poll has found.

Thomas Sowell has long been one of my favorite conservative commentators.  He happens to be black, and amongst blacks a voice like his is quite unusual.  I just read an excellent piece he did on Obamacare .  A teaser: There was a time, within living memory, when most Americans did not have health insurance– and it was not the end of the world, as so many in politics and the media seem to be depicting it today.

Tens, maybe hundreds, of thousands of angry Americans stormed Washington last weekend to oppose ObamaCare and government spending. How’d Democrats react? By redoubling efforts to pass “health-care reform” — dissent be damned. True, Dems may pay a price if they succeed. But so will the nation — in terms of a sapped economic recovery, further job losses, lower-quality, rationed health care and, of course, monster taxes. Today, for example, Sen.

Judge Andrew Napolitano has a brief and lucid guide to the serious constitutional problems with ObamaCare, in the Wall Street Journal today. A Mark Fitzgibbons just noted (below), the Left is in the process of demonizing those who point to inconvenient constitutional strictures on government power. Judge Napolitano notes the expansive interpretations of the interstate commerce clause invented in the New Deal, and writes: The Supreme Court finally came to its senses when it invalidated a congressional ban on illegal guns within 1,000 feet of public schools.

Whatever bounce ObamaCare got from the president’s big speech is gone. In the  Rasmussen poll , voters disapprove by a 52-45 percent margin, roughly what it was before the speech. Like virtually every issue that faces the nation, our healthcare problem is greatly exacerbated by mass immigration—both legal and illegal.  A total of 43% of non-citizens lack health insurance, compared to just 12.7% of native-born Americans.  These uninsured immigrants impose huge strains on our healthcare system that helped create the crisis we currently face. Plenty of analysts and commentators have exposed how illegal aliens will receive healthcare under Obamacare.

I have been what could only be called belligerent today.  I was on facebook, responding to a few people who I happen to think are off of their rockers, they were commenting on a particular poll there, about whether President Obama should be impeached.  About 2/3 of those who saw it said yes.  The reason why is obvious.  For people who dislike him, it gives them a chance to not just vote, but vent their anger at our President.  For people like me, who like a good fight, and like starting and finishing them, it gives us a chance to have a bit of fun.

One of my favorite professors in law school was Professor Cavanagh, who, among other subjects, taught Antitrust Law. He once told a story about price fixing, the illegal practice of businesses that are supposed to be competing, that instead agree to charge consumers the same (elevated) price. Price fixing is often more subtle than a contract written in invisible ink–it can be the result of a collusive atmosphere where companies casually discuss cost, price and future trends; tacitly agreeing to set prices.

Olympia Snowe is either afraid of losing her Senate seat in Maine or she’s, for once in her useless senatorial life, actually remembered she’s a Republican. “Over the weekend, hundreds of gatherings occurred across America to protest taxes, government spending, and Obamacare, and nobody got shot. Statistically, out of a random group of 100 Americans, one will be carrying a concealed weapon. In most states, many more could be legally carrying weapons openly. Since these crowds were largely conservative in their political bent, I would bet the percentage lawfully carrying guns was skewed higher since this is the same demographic that favor second amendment rights. If that is so, in a Georgia or Texas event with 10,000 exuberant protesters, there would be at least 100 people with guns, probably 200 or more.

Ask about Guantanamo and Obama’s plans to find a solution and ask, “Why not just keep the terrorists there?” The Liberal reply, “Racist…Just because Obama is Black you want to keep Guantanamo open?” HUH?

Politicians, pundits, and partisan activists from across the political spectrum frequently decry policies or government actions they dislike as “unconstitutional”. Unfortunately, because this word is so frequently bandied about, it has lost the impact that it should have. That being said, Andrew Napolitano has written on op-ed on the conflict between the U.S. Constitution’s Commerce Clause and President Obama’s proposed health care reform.

I created a new category for this. I like to oppose ObamaCare on first principles, but the craptastick reputation of other government services can be very effective. “In the long run, Saturday’s event will likely have little effect — sure, it might sway a few ‘blue dog’ Democrats to vote against Obamacare or tax increases for the rest of their current terms in office, but it won’t seriously undermine anything. Now, instead, imagine the effect if the percentage of eligible voters participating in November, 2010, were to drop into the single digits? Imagine if the same percentage of parents stopped sending their kids into public schools.

” At issue, of course, are the two words ‘death panels,’ uttered widely in opposition to Obamacare, most famously by Sarah Palin, the prominent politician to whom the president alluded. The phrase may indeed be ‘cynical’ shorthand for a new government role in deciding on appropriate care as one nears the end of one’s life; certainly it is polemical. And it may even be ‘irresponsible’ — in exactly the same way that Democratic political operatives for decades have irresponsibly tried to frighten the elderly into believing Republicans were going to take away their Social Security benefits.

“By federal fiat, US state schools and hospitals must bear the costs of teaching and treating illegal aliens because of federally granted rights. Unless the courts overturn these mandates, Obamacare will uphold federal provisions that are already on the books. By logical extension, Joe Wilson, South Carolina’s Representative, was correct — if indecorous — in asserting, during Obama’s address to the chambers last week, that the president was not being truthful.” (09/15/09)

Now boys and girls, I want to tell you a wonderful fairy tale about a talismanic land where only happy endings are allowed. And all you have to do is surrender your “liberty and freedom for all.” You all know that Ezekiel “Zeke” Emanuel was aboard the Clinton Express when it tried to take us to the magical world of universal health care in the early 90s. Sadly, that train broke down on the way and never arrived at Utopia. But, not to worry, because now Zeke has boarded another train, the ObamaCare Special.

From nationalreview.com by Thomas Sowell dated 09/11/2009 entitled, “ Charlatan-in-Chief; The core of Obama’s medical-care plan is the promise of something for nothing “: ‘Hubris-laden charlatans” was the way a recent e-mail from a reader characterized the Obama administration. That phrase seems especially appropriate for the Charlatan-in-Chief, Barack Obama, whose speech to the joint session of Congress was both a masterpiece of rhetoric and a shameless fraud.

Senior citizens beware … It is unfathomable to me that the President of the United States and members of Congress continues to make coverage promises to America’s senior citizens which they obviously do not plan to keep. Denying cuts to Medicare while planning to eliminate Medicare Advantage which serves approximately 25% of Medicare-eligible senior citizens and squeezing additional funds out of the program to be used elsewhere.

In a pot calling the kettle black moment, president Obama lectured Wall Street about “responsibility, not recklessness.” Obviously the president, like the rest of Congress, never bothered reading the so-called stimulus bills he signed, not mention the Democrats’ other perverse pieces of legislation from Obamacare to Cap and Trade. Nor did the Washington elite seem to notice the sea of angry citizens who marched against them on 9/12. But government recklessness and irresponsibility with taxpayers’ money apparently isn’t a problem.

The Democrat Congress has released a new primer banning certain words and phrases from floor debate . Likewise, it has been held that a member could not: • call the President a “liar.” • call the President a “hypocrite.” • describe the President’s veto of a bill as “cowardly.” • charge that the President has been “intellectually dishonest.” • refer to the President as “giving aid and comfort to the enemy.” • refer to alleged “sexual misconduct on the President’s part.” You can’t call a president who lies that his health care plan is deficit neutral and doesn’t cut Medicare a liar.

THINK PROGRESS Throughout the summer, Sen. David Vitter (R-LA) has attacked President Obama’s efforts to reform health care in America, bragging on his Twitter page about how he is “ fighting Obamacare .” At the same time, Vitter has told his constituents that he does support some reform, but that he doesn’t want “ to throw the baby out with the bathwater ” or push “a lot of people off insurance that they have now, that they enjoy now.” But Vitter supported doing just that yesterday as he endorsed a plan that would privatize Medicaid and scrap the nation’s employer-based health insurance system: U.S.

From USA Today : “A USA TODAY/Gallup Poll taken after the president’s dramatic address to a joint session of Congress last week shows Americans almost evenly divided over passing a health care bill and inclined to think it would make some of the system’s vexing problems worse, not better. “ Six in 10 say Obama’s proposal, if enacted, would not achieve his goals of expanding coverage to nearly all Americans without raising taxes on the middle class or lowering the quality of health care.

After a routine annual exam I asked my physician what she thought of Obamacare proposals. She’s all for them. One thing she mentioned is that after a patient nears 90 years of age they should not be given all kinds of costly tests and treatment, concluding, “Just let them die of old age”. I may change doctors. In any case, it is neither government nor doctor – but the patient – of any age – who should make the decision whether or not to be given tests or treatment.

Brooks:  ”Obama rested the credibility of his presidency on what you might call the Dime Standard. He was flexible about many things, but not this: “I will not sign a plan that adds one dime to our deficits — either now or in the future. Period.” This sound bite kills the House health care bill. That bill would add $220 billion (that’s 2.2 trillion dimes) to the deficit over the first 10 years and another $1 trillion (10 trillion dimes) to the deficit over the next 10 years.

President Obama gave yet another speech on his healthcare plan before a friendly audience and continues to say the same things that even his most ardent supporters know to be false : when you’re talking with some of your friends and neighbors, they might say, “Well, that all sounds pretty good, but how you going to pay for it?” That’s a legitimate question, because I inherited a $1.3 trillion deficit when I came into office. That’s the other thing people have been a little selective about.

By Richard Larsen August Recess for the nations’ lawmakers was certainly not business as usual this year. With headlines and debate centered on the controversial overhaul of our health-care system, it could be fair to say many of them ran into constituent buzz-saws in their town hall meetings across the country. While the exchanges at these meetings were sometimes confrontational, the freedom behind such truly grassroots response to a proposed totalitarian health-care system was inspiring.

It really is amazing the extent to which the left will play racial politics at every turn. It’s even more amazing how brazen some members of Congress are in supporting illegal aliens. Rep. The new enforcement measures would prevent illegal aliens from accessing whatever new health care bill eventually becomes law. It was a lack of citizenship verification that prompted Rep.
