WASHINGTON (CNN) – A day after former Baptist minister and likely presidential rival Mike Huckabee offered a withering critique of Mitt Romney’s record, Romney made his pitch to the same group of religious conservatives – a voting bloc that could be key to any future White House bid. The former Massachusetts governor appealed to attendees at the Values Voters Summit in Washington Saturday, using a speech that drew heavily from his address to social conservatives at the same hotel earlier this year.

Eagle Forum by Phyllis Schlafly September 18, 2009 The sanctimonious shock at Rep. Joe Wilson’s (R-SC) calling out “You lie” when Barack Obama said the health care bill will not insure illegal aliens reminds me of the Casablanca police chief saying he was “shocked, shocked” to learn that gambling was taking place in the saloon. Barack Obama’s congressional pals had defeated the Republican amendment to require proof of legal residency in order to be covered by the health care bill, and the American people know that illegals are now getting free health care at emergency rooms.

PatriotPost.US On Tuesday, the House voted 240-179 — largely along party lines — to “disapprove” the behavior of Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC), who shouted, “You lie!” at President Barack Obama during a particularly galling portion of the Obfuscator-in-Chief’s speech to a joint session of Congress last Wednesday. Wilson had already apologized and Obama had accepted, but that wasn’t good enough for House Democrats.

PatriotPost.US ObamaCare, Baucus Style Sen. Max Baucus (D-MT) made public his health care proposal this week, and no one on either side of the aisle or in the White House liked it very much. As Senate Finance Committee Chairman, Baucus took it upon himself to put a package together that he thought stood the best chance of drawing bipartisan support, but, instead, his plan landed with a resounding thud.

The vaudeville logic of the plan is that Congress will tax health care to subsidize people to buy health care that new taxes and regulation make more expensive. Look no further than the $40 billion “fee” that Mr. Baucus wants to impose on medical devices and diagnostic equipment. A large crowd of Patriots descended on the nation’s capital last Saturday to voice their concern and displeasure with Washington’s out-of-control spending habits and interference with people’s lives. Estimates of the number of participants varied widely, from 70,000 to as many as two million — but more on that later. This civil demonstration followed the message and the momentum of the Tea Parties from earlier this year.

To me, Obama is a lot like the Chicago Cubs in baseball. All too often Cubs get a good start and the fans start to think that the old cursed saying about the Cubs — “Wait ’til next year” — will finally be left behind. But, in the end, the Cubs always manage to lose when going into the fall.At the beginning of this year, Obama too was hot. As a new President, 70% of the population was rooting for him to do well. Now, going into this fall, Obama has suffered some serious defeats.

Paul Begala, the CNN pundit and Democratic political guru, wonders “if at long last there is no decency on the far right.” He cited a professionally-printed sign from the recent Washington tea party. “BURY OBAMACARE WITH KENNEDY,” it said. “Oh, I get it,” Begala jabbed on the Huffington Post Internet site. “Sen. Kennedy is dead, and these slugs want health care reform to be dead too. That is so clever.” Kennedy called universal health care “the cause of my life.” I suspect the sign-toter’s disdain for Kennedy has a deeper source, and ditto for many other tea baggers.

Here is new Naked Emperor News video showing Barack Obama as a candidate in 2007 being far more honest about the costs of changing America’s Health Care System than he is now that he is President. In the video, he says plainly that it will take years to make such a transition, and it will cost 90-100 billion dollars “every year.” He also said it actually will require tax increases to pay for such a plan, calling it an “investment” we will have to make.

Send out a woman who admits to not having been proud of America at any point in her adult life to assure average Americans that their health care is safe in the hands of government bureaucrats. Next time you see someone mocking the idea that America could have health care waiting lists and death panels, point out that we already do. There is one domain of medical treatment that is mandated socialism-only, by the Federal government. And, unsurprisingly, this system has a waiting list of over 100,000 people at a time. You usually have to wait at least 1,000 days …nearly three years…for treatment. In fact, you usually die before you get treated .

We’ve seen it before, countless times before, when rapacious governments seize control of a nation’s media outlets–the daily press, television, radio, periodicals.  It’s SOP for repressive regimes such as those in the U.S.S.R., Nazi Germany, and most recently in Hugo Chavez’ Venezuela, to seize media outlets to insure they pump out only state-sponsored propaganda. It’s a very effective tactic for totalitarians.  It keeps supporters content, it squelches opponents, and it makes things quite comfy for despots with the rabble kept in the dark over what’s really going on in their countries.

The great charade that was Senator Chuck Grassley’s “candid” attempt to agree to a bipartisan health care reform deal appears to be over, as the Iowa Republican reacted with surprising hostility to the idea that he could in any way support the proposal put forward by Max Baucus on Wednesday, calling it “intellectually dishonest to describe the legislation bipartisan. “This bill, except for five or six or seven or eight or nine or 10 — I don’t know how many — things that weren’t resolved has been put together with some Republican input.

GO TO HELL NANCY PELOSI! Now that conservatives are mad as hell and not taking any more, Nancy Pelosi says she is worried about possible violence. After calling conservative patriots names such as nazis, teabaggers, racists, mobs, evil mongers, liars, fascists and more, Pelosi realizes she has probably kicked the lion one too many times. And she has! Pelosi said in a press conference today: “I have concerns about some of the language that is being used because I saw this myself in the late ’70s in San Francisco.

Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen (D) is criticizing Obama’s health-care plan as “ the mother of all unfunded mandates ,” saying it will force states to spend so much that they will have to either massively raise taxes or run large budget deficits that violate state constitutions. Earlier, Martin Feldstein, one of Obama’s economic advisors said his health-care plan would explode the federal budget deficit and lead to “ crippling deficits ,” as well as “higher taxes, debt payments, and interest rates” that would cut America’s standard of living.

Someone sent this to me and I found it very funny at first. Then, once I had thought about it for a few moments, I realized how true it is. The more you think about it, the scaryer it gets! Let me get this straight . . . We’re going to pass a health care plan written by a committee whose head says he doesn’t understand it, passed by a Congress that hasn’t read it but exempts themselves from it, signed by a president that also hasn’t read it and who smokes, with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn’t pay his taxes, overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that’s nearly broke.

Never mind, of course, that we’ve already seen political violence — it’s coming from the unions. And from ObamaCare supporters, such as the protester in Tucson who elbowed a man to the head after disrupting a Tea Party forum. The incitement is coming from groups supporting ObamaCare like HCAN, who trains their followers on how to disrupt town-hall forums and create turmoil. Is Pelosi all choked up about those groups, or calling for them to take responsibility for the violence, actual and potential, that they incited this summer?

Mark Levin’s Liberty & Tyranny is the biggest non-fiction book of the year. Rush Limbaugh’s ratings are through the roof. Glenn Beck got Van Jones thrown out of office. ACORN is imploding. Hundreds of thousands of tea partiers marched on Washington. Congressmen are getting an earful at town hall meetings. ObamaCare can’t get out of the starting gates. After years of wandering in the wilderness of the George Bush years when conservatism was occasionally practiced but never preached, Americans are starting to wake up.

Is A Vote For Health Care Reform A Vote Against Gun Rights? Virginia Gun Owners Coalition Virginia – - (AmmoLand.com) - At first glance, the two issues might seem unrelated, which is why some VGOC supporters have been asking me, “Why are gun owners getting into the health care debate?” My friend Paul Valone at the Charlotte Gun Rights Examiner gives one of the best answers I have seen. He points out that the British Medical Association is working with police to “tag” medical records of gun licensees.

Obama continues his untruthful statements about his desired Healthcare Plan. His wishes would destroy the best medical treatment on earth! Could it be that this is his intent? Two of every three practicing physicians oppose the medical overhaul plan under consideration in Washington, and hundreds of thousands would think about shutting down their practices or retiring early if it were adopted, a new IBD/TIPP Poll has found.

Over the past few years, I have written numerous times about the dangers of static tax analysis — the practice of predicting revenues from tax policy changes that assumes that tax policy has no effect whatsoever on the behavior of consumers and investors.  Static tax analysis disregards the fact that every action generates a reaction, while dynamic tax analysis attempts to predict behavior in modeling changes in tax policy.  This sounds like a dry, academic topic, but it has real-world implications,

Originally the open letter told Congress that it “must” vote for the public option. The second bullet point in the OFA’s letter originally read as follows: Guarantee choice – Every American must have the freedom to choose their plan and doctor – including the choice of a public insurance option.

Well they’ve got nothing on Max Baucus, and the other democrats who helped draft this plan. This is great news for the insurance companies. It’s even better than they could have ever imagined. Insurance premiums are going to skyrocket, especially if you’re an elderly American, not eligible for Medicare. According to the plan, insurance companies will be able to charge up to 5 TIMES as much as an average policy based on your age. With an average policy for an individual running about $500/month, that would add up to $30,000 per year.

Barack Obama, never met a tax he did not like. He just does not stop in his taxing of the people and business.

Arnold Kling makes a salient point about Obama’s health care speech: Of the following statements made by President Obama in his speech on health reform last week, which is not true? a) “if you are among the hundreds of millions of Americans who already have health insurance through your job, or Medicare, or Medicaid, or the VA, nothing in this plan will require you or your employer to change the coverage or the doctor you have. ” b) “the reforms I’m proposing would not apply to those who are here illegally.

Rasmussen polls likely voters (as in not just registered voters, but registered voters who actually vote). Here are the results: “Just before President Obama gave his speech to Congress last week , 44% of voters nationwide supported his health care reform proposal and 53% were opposed. Today, eight days after the speech and a brief bounce, a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 44% support the health care plan and 53% are opposed.

Much of the hullabaloo over President Obama’s health care speech to Congress last week focused on his endorsement of a “public option” — that is, a government-run, not merely government regulated health insurance plan for the non-elderly middle class.  Throughout the August congressional recess, it appeared as though the White House was ready to abandon the public option , since that was a major source of contention among congressional Republicans, Blue Dog Democrats, and a sizeable portion of

I disagree with President Obama on several policy areas – health care reform, government spending, his $9 trillion in projected deficits, the stimulus package, cap and trade, EFCA, to name a few. I attended the 9/12 Tea Party rally to protest these policies. According to many liberals, that makes me a racist . Even former President Jimmy “stagflation” Carter said so. Here’s what the Peanut Man said during an NBC interview: “I think an overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity toward President Barack Obama is based on the fact that he is a black man, that he’s African American.

We’re All Racists Now… - thelobbyist.net

Apparently we’re all racists now. Jimmy Carter told me so. I’m from Dixie. The land of labels. The area of the country were if anyone has a problem with anything that anyone else of the opposite skin color does it’s always attributed solely to racism. The accusation usual comes from Liberals. It’s frustrating. It’s equally as frustrating to listen to Carter proclaim his excitement of the South’s progress in race relations like he is sitting on some cloud as a deity encouraging his Southern brothers toward some goal that he had already achieved ages ago.
