THE elderly were the first group to turn against President Obama’s health-care pro posals, alienated by the plans to cut $500 billion cut from Medicare. The young and the uninsured may be the next to jump ship — out of worry over about the huge premiums they’d have to pay. Requiring everyone to buy insurance will impose a massive tax on all who now are uninsured. The Congressional Budget Office projects that it would force the middle-income uninsured to pay on average more than 15 percent of their income.

Democratic lawmakers still can’t figure out what Obama wants on health-care reform. It seems the big speech didn’t clear that up. Brit Hume on the Obama media blitz: “I think that this presidency has proceeded from a kind of assumption that Barack Obama’s personal wonderfulness would be a major part of his success diplomatically and politically. … He turns out, I think, in the end to be an exceptionally appealing and charming man, enormously likable, but oddly not persuasive.

If you watched any of the media blitz with BO on Sunday you may have seen the interview done by George Stephanopolous.  BO doesn’t believe mandatory insurance and increases are tax increases. This stems from the idea that in the postmodern world everything is subjective, an idea that I find deplorable, but it is, nonetheless, prevalent on the left. Notice, he doesn’t adhere to what is thought to be an objective definition of taxes.

The AP reports that President Obama doesn’t consider compulsary health insurance with fines and penalty for non-compliance a new tax . President Barack Obama says requiring people to get health insurance and fining them if they don’t would not amount to a backhanded tax increase. “I absolutely reject that notion,” the president said. Blanketing most of the Sunday TV news shows, Obama defended his proposed health care overhaul, including a key point of the various health care bills on Capitol Hill: mandating that people get health insurance to share the cost burden fairly among all.

The One now believes he is The Only One who can save his floundering socialist healthcare plan. So he showed up on five networks — ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN plus Spanish-language Univision — on Sunday to pitch his leftist heart out. Of course, the Greatest President In History did not appear on Fox Sunday, automatically eliminating himself for consideration for any future sequels to Profiles In Courage. In search of more friendly climes, he will continue his Talking Tour 2009 on Monday’s David Letterman Show.

Michelle is now being used by the Administration to promote Obamacare so she is fair game. Whoever came up with the brilliant plan of having the president’s wife be the ‘ace in the hole’ on healthcare must not have been very observant around the 1993-94 timeframe in this country’s history. We tried this once before with Hillary, for those of you not up on your politics. Touted at the time as ‘the smartest woman in the world’, despite the same warm charm as Michelle, and that overbearing ‘love’ of country, even the great Hillary couldn’t get it done.

As currently conceived, ObamaCare technically won’t cover the millions upon millions of illegal aliens our rulers have allowed to colonize parts of the country — not that “undocumented Americans” won’t continue to avail themselves of emergency room services at no cost to themselves. However, the whole illegal alien issue will be moot, if Chairman Zero waves a wand and grants amnesty, vastly expanding the welfare roles per the Cloward-Piven Strategy and setting off a new wave of Third-World immigration intended to establish a socialist majority.

I’ve done a pretty good job of steering this blog clear of politics. However, I recently shut down my other blog and there are just some things that I have to comment on! There are not many things that creep me out but I have to say the agenda for the 2009 Value Voters Summit surely does. Here it is in all it’s paranoid glory!

When Obama says it isn’t, that’s when. In Obama’s new order, you will be mandated to purchase health insurance whether you believe you need it or not. If you don’t buy insurance, the IRS will forcibly collect funds from you to cover your insurance. Let’s review. 1) If you don’t pay for health insurance now, you keep your money. 2) In the future, if you don’t buy health insurance, the IRS collects additional funds from you. This is money you pay to the IRS that that you don’t pay today.

Jimmy Carter is projecting his own racism onto opponents of ObamaCare. Upper-class Democrats have traditionally charged their enemies of racism in the post-war era to distract audiences from their own ghastly histories. Unfortunately, the former president hasn’t acted like much of a peacemaker this past week, fanning the flames and engaging in a little race baiting by accusing critics of President Obama, and specifically Rep. Joe Wilson, of racial animus.

Give President Obama credit for persistence. And stubbornness. And lack of imagination. He declared again last week that his health care plan “will slow the growth of health care costs for our families and our businesses and our government.” And this historic achievement will be accompanied by a dazzling array of new medical benefits that everyone will receive–guaranteed by law. Okay, you’ve heard this before. But that’s the president’s story, and he’s sticking to it.

What do you get when you invite America’s leading conservative thinkers, both very young and very old, to a hotel on the edge of town and give the media permission to peek? Well, for the Value Voters Summit in Washington, DC it was a total lack of propriety and decorum, a glaring look at the obnoxious entitlement of our entrenched media establishment. These overpaid and fully-haired field reporters think they can sneak in anywhere, crank up the cameras and yack away .
