This interesting article from Fast Company features new research that proves 9 ways you can increase the ‘retweeting’ of your tweets. Interesting stuff except that it’s one of those research projects where now that the evidence has been published, the circumstances will change. I predict within 6 weeks, if not sooner , these ‘rules’ will be out the window. A common occurrence with this kind of ‘benefit’ research is that the mid section of the bell curve (the big bit) will adopt these tactics in their tweeting methodology.

I got this book about a year ago with a large lot of Sci-fi and have always kept it off to the side as a go to now and then for a good chuckle. I’ve mentioned it to a few friends, but feel it is time to do a post. I read it again this afternoon, as the tag line, Complete with Everything: Aliens, Giant Ants, Space Cadets, Robots, One Plucky Girl, has a certain charm to it that I can’t resist. Coupled with the fact that it’s all crammed into 60pgs, how can it be a miss for an afternoon ride on the bus!

Awesome story in the WSJ this morning. Smoke-free air = fewer heart attacks The Case for Bans on Smoking, WSJ.com The growing numbers of bans on smoking in restaurants, bars and workplaces, intended to protect nonsmokers against second-hand-tobacco smoke, are turning into potent weapons in the battle to prevent heart attacks. In one of the largest analyses to date of the dangers of passive smoking, researchers found that smoke-free laws reduced the rate of heart attacks by an average of 17% after one year in communities where the bans had been adopted.

I’ve seen this link a couple of times now, where the AP is essentially trying to spin a report to prove that torture is useless for extracting information . That’s not what the report says, it actually just says that torture isn’t effective as a long term method. The story implicitly defines waterboarding as torture by showing a picture of it right on the cover. Anything that thousands of lefty protesters are willing to do to themselves on capital hill, repeatedly, is not torture.

Michelle Malkin: Chu spanks Americans who dissent from global warming hysteria [...] There’s “very little debate” inside your own administration, Secretary Chu, because dissenters will get crushed . [END] The article is from WSJ entitled, ” Steven Chu: Americans Are Like ‘Teenage Kids’ When It Comes to Energy ” and the poor Czar Chu says that climate change will happen. Will happen? Doesn’t the climate change from day to day to day? Moron. Dissenters will be crushed. Check the You Tube in my LH side bar…the Hillary one. THAT’S your dissent. Moron.

Bill Introduced Today Seeks Thorough Study of School-Based Marketing WASHINGTON—Despite rising public concern over childhood obesity, food companies, through an industry-funded self-regulatory group, have proposed a set of “principles” by which the companies can use a variety of approaches to market junk food to children in schools. The nonprofit Center for Science in the Public Interest today urged the industry group to go back to the chalk board and consider whether Ronald McDonald truly belongs in the classroom.

“Smart Choices” food label is marketing fraud; Tufts University involvement questioned (opinion) by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor (NaturalNews) The big food companies have dreamed up yet another clever con to sell processed junk foods to parents and children: A “Smart Choices” label that implies the food product is a smart choice for health and nutrition. The problem is that the standards for qualifying for this designation were set by the food companies themselves, and processed junk foods like Froot Loops (a sugary breakfast cereal) qualify.

Ever since Barack Obama floated the idea of a soda tax, oh-so-caring politicians have been lining up to save you from yourself. Ka-ching. First it was tobacco, with Al Gore, who grew the plant but never inhaled, preaching against it. Next it was SUVs, with Arianna Huffington warning that it was unsustainable for the average American to use one-tenth the amount of energy she does. Then it was the anti-tranny crowd, with localities all over banning trans-fats.

If we just make ourselves more defenseless, Putin will see that we care and turn into a nice guy…..This is the same nonsense that we have gotten from the far left and leftist academics for years. The left and leftist academics freaked when Reagan called out the USSR as an evil empire and freaked even more when Reagan used the arms race and space based missile defense to bring them to their knees.

Hi there and welcome to part 3 of my series on the practice of Dialogue Mapping in the real-world. To recap, in part 1 , I provided a brief overview of Dialogue Mapping and in part 2 , I described a common real world usage scenario that we perform fairly often as SharePoint consultants. The rest of this series will change tack a little. In this article I am going to describe a very different Dialogue Mapping scenario to you. This was a huge challenge and a large leap from what I described in part 2 .

Wow, a lot to take in here. I can only comment that I feel strongly about the dangers of second-hand smoke. I get so annoyed when smokers complain they can’t smoke in bars anymore. I went off on a tangent to my friend saying it doesn’t matter if it hurts his feelings, the fact is second hand smoke is a serious health risk and it’s not necessary that my health have to suffer merely because someone else wants to poison their body with nicotine and tobacco in the same bar as me. Whew, ok, rant mode off.
The Science of Twitter
That’s what I was afraid of. I’m trying to learn this now and already wondering why some of what I found out doesn’t work. Guess I’ll have to keep up with the blog for the latest.
