David Limbaugh, TownHall.com, Friday, September 25, 2009 Sen. Jim DeMint predicted that Obamacare would be President Barack Obama’s Waterloo. While that’s certainly a strong possibility, Obama has other Waterloos in the wings competing for the prize, such as his monstrous deficits and his disastrous foreign policy. The Heritage Foundation reports that Obama’s budget would produce $13 trillion in deficits over the next decade, even more than the outrageous $9 trillion previously projected.

There are indicators all over the place flashing red on the Democrats as they rush headlong into political implosion. By being hell bent on pushing through partisan, hyper-liberal policies that the broad center of America opposes, they will make themselves the nation’s lightening rod for all their frustration and anger built up over decades in the next few elections cycles. The first indicator is, as allows in politics, the money game.

House Democrats met on Obamacare today, and were far from united : The fight leaves Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) with a difficult choice. Senator Harry Reid (D-NV) is threatening to go nuclear on the healthcare bill.  That means he is going to close debate and attempt to get at least 60 votes for it so he can bypass the normal channels on bills.  I firmly believe Harry is terminally stupid because by doing so, he’s going against the will of the people whom he represents.  You know the people who hired him to represent them in the piss poor manner he has represented them so far.  Just look at any of the polls out there on healthcare.

Senator Tom Carper (D – DE) made some comments today aimed at getting his fellow liberals to back off the drug companies because they’d cut a deal with Obama.  The problem?  What he hinted at was a deal between Obama and the drug industry that included concessions from Obama in exchange for a big-money ad campaign in favor of Obamacare.

“With the President and Congress’s plan to pass comprehensive health care reform reaching increasingly high levels of unpopularity, and reconciliation becoming an impediment, the leadership of the Senate is rumored to be preparing a new secret plan to railroad the bill through the Senate in record time by using a seldom used parliamentary procedure. Their plan is to proceed to a House passed non-health care bill to provide a shell of legislation to give Obamacare a ride to the House then to the President’s desk.

There has been a lot of talk about mandates emanating from the federal government to force each of us to buy healthcare insurance but what do those mandates do to the insurance itself? And are they even Constitutionally justified? First of all we need to remind everyone that these mandates cannot possibly be Constitutional. After all, the Constitution does not give Congress the power to demand that the citizens buy a certain product. The Constitution only gives Congress the power to tax, not to serve as an arm of any industry.

Mark Tapscott sounds a grave warning about giving our government too much power. He argues that the progressive movement’s totalitarian temptation is becoming irresistible to some on the left. Take, for example, Thomas Freidman , who went as far as to write a column advocating totalitarianism here in the US. You know, as long as the despots are good people.  But what happens when citizens don’t obey the rulers? Over at Takimag, Kevin DeAnna has a piece on the 9/12 protestors and Tea Partiers. He makes a number of points that those of us in the ‘White Wing’ can agree with, but since DeAnna is writing for a conservative webzine, he has to miss his target by just a notch. The best part about White Nationalism is that we get to say exactly what we think. We don’t have to sugar coat the pill to prevent conservative indigestion.

You have probably heard about Obama arguing that the individual mandate is not a tax.  Well, this is just one more example of why Obama has no real clue about what is in the bill.  Here is what the Baucus bill actually says about the penalty for not complying with the mandate.  See it for yourself on page 29 here . Excise Tax. The consequence for not maintaining insurance would be an excise tax.

Former Kennedy aide and the current executor of Ted Kennedy’s estate, one Paul Kirk, will fill the seat until January 19’s special election .  Governor Deval Patrick was able to make this appointment because the state legislature changed the Senate replacement law. Ex post facto laws are unconstitutional.  It’s fine if MA changes its law, but it couldn’t apply to the vacancy created by Ted Kennedy’s passing, because that happened before the law change.  The problem is that nobody in the state

President Obama likes to cite the Postal Service as a positive example of a self-sustaining government entity that successfully competes with the private sector. He said “UPS and Fed Ex are doing just fine.” My buddy Nadz also is fond of the Postal Service model saying it’s his ideal example of how a public-option health insurance system could be set up. Both of them swear the Post Office receives no taxpayer subsidies. Unfortunately that statement is no longer operative.

I wasn’t surprised that Rep. Joe Wilson felt compelled to apologize to President Obama for calling him a liar.  I also wasn’t surprised to hear that within 24 hours, thousands of liberals had sent in over $200,000 in contributions to Wilson’s opponent in next year’s election even though they knew nothing about him except that he was running against Wilson.  Frankly, I wouldn’t have been surprised if the other 434 members of the House had censured, expelled or ridden Rep.

The Senate Committee that is theoretically opened up to public debate is not exactly open to debate UNLESS those in the debate are all for the Baucus Bill. The CBO was asked about the monies iinvolved but they said they have the results but it isn’t up for public debate.  WHY NOT ?  I supose that Fox News will bar that all out for us sooner than later…maybe.  But, here’s the Big Deal. If you ask Americans about campaign finance reform, most likely they’ll answer something about the need for it because “there’s too much money in politics,” not realizing that to many the freedom to donate to the political candidate of their choice is a right equated with everything else granted by the First Amendment. You’ll recall that one of the biggest sales pitches of the Obama Administration when it comes to selling ObamaCare is that the public option would be kind of like the Post Office. They claim FedEx and UPS can compete just fine against the USPS, even though neither of the former companies are permitted to engage in the latter’s biggest business: First Class Mail. False logic aside, the comparison was stupid. As even President Obama himself admitted at the time: I mean, if you think about — if you think about it, UPS and FedEx are doing just fine, right? No, they are.
