Why is Rangel Still Here? :  Glenn Beck launched an attack against the Obama administration’s “green jobs” director Van Jones in the last week of August. By Labor Day, Jones was FOX-kill. Compare that to the results achieved by The New York Times and The Washington Post, both of which have called for New York Rep. Charles Rangel to step down as chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee. The newspapers began urging Rangel to step aside back in 2008; it’s now close to 2010 and Rangel hasn’t budged.

By Ben Stein , American Spectator, July 24, 2009 Obama fits right in with Uncle Joe Stalin ( http://patriotpost.us/ ) Why is President Barack Obama in such a hurry to get his socialized medicine bill passed? Because he and his cunning circle realize some basic truths: The American people in their unimaginable kindness and trust voted for a pig in a poke in 2008. They wanted so much to believe Barack Obama was somehow better and different from other ultra-leftists that they simply took him on faith.

Editorial: The “Public Option,” or Bust The defeat of the “public option” will be a tremendous defeat for the Obama Administration. Sorry Glenn, But Winning Beats Losing Glenn Beck suggested that McCain, unlike our current administration, would not have energized the conservative base, and his likely centrist policies would have divided the American right. “Rasmussen’s nationwide telephone survey also found that 56 percent of voters are now opposed to the plan. Just 33 percent of senior citizens favor the plan, while 59 percent are opposed. Other findings of the poll: 46 percent of respondents believe the reform plan will likely pass and become law this year, but 47 percent think it will likely not pass, including 15 percent who say it is not at all likely to pass.

-By Warner Todd Huston The New York Times is reporting that more than a dozen state legislatures are considering crafting constitutional amendments that will make it illegal to force every citizen to buy health insurance, a key part of Obama’s healthcare plan. If any of these state legislatures ultimately approve a constitutional change to outlaw the insurance mandates that Obama is trying to force on the nation it could set up a legal showdown between advocates of state’s rights and federal control that will likely end up in the Supreme Court.

Public Option Defeated Today in Senate Finance Committee While the above headline was good news, the fight against a government takeover of health care is far from over. As Congressman John Shadegg pointed out on our national tele-town hall meeting last week, Speaker Pelosi is planning an all-out effort in the House of Representatives to pass a bill containing some form of this government-run health insurance plan. As Speaker Pelosi has repeatedly said, the Left is demanding this provision

The mainstream media has been dutifully reporting now for some time about the town hall riots over Obama’s proposed Health Care reform, but what folks dont realize is that these “riots” are staged, shills planted to say provocative things and get the unsuspecting riled up enough that they will perform, like trained monkeys, or Pavlov’s salivating dogs, for the camera to capture and spread elsewhere like some societal virus until (they hope) Obama’s reform momentum loses steam.  The TRUE manipulators

From the Wall Street Journal: President Obama’s effort to deny that his mandate to buy insurance is a tax has taken another thumping, this time from fellow Democrats in the Senate Finance Committee. Chairman Max Baucus’s bill includes the so-called individual mandate, along with what he calls a $1,900 “excise tax” if you don’t buy health insurance. (It had been as much as $3,800 but Democrats reduced the amount last week to minimize the political sticker shock.) And, lo, it turns out that if you don’t pay that tax, the IRS could punish you with a $25,000 fine or up to a year in jail, or both.

With Afghanistan, Iran, and Obamacare all in crisis, why is President Barack Obama going to Denmark to discuss the 2016 Olympics ? As you’ll see from the rest of this post, the troubling answer is probably this: Because Valerie Jarrett wants him to. There is one person who has been closely linked with virtually every Obama scandal thus far: Valerie Jarrett . The more I look at it, the more I’m surprised that she’s still at the White House.

Republicans are in possession of a letter which asks: Where are the secret Medicare cuts going to come from? Given that both Rasmussen and the AP polls have come up with the same answer: 59% of seniors are opposed to ObamaCare, the draft letter below has greater significance for Seniors than just the political implications for the Democrats. Dick Morris discusses the policy implications for seniors : “The latest poll by Scott Rasmussen not only shows national opposition to Obamacare rising - now it is 41-56 against - but also shows the elderly moving against it even more strongly, by 33-59, or almost 2:1.

The writing was on the wall , but it is official. The Senate Finance Committee voted to kill the public option in ObamaCare. Sen. Jay Rockefeller’s (D-W.Va.) amendment went down by a lopsided (and bipartisan) margin of 15-8, with Democrats Baucus, Carper of Delaware, Conrad of North Dakota, Lincoln of Arkansas, and Nelson of Florida, joining all 10 Republicans in voting no. Sen. Chuck Schumer’s (D-NY) amendment didn’t fare much better, losing by a 13-10 margin, with Carper and Nelson voting aye.

The health care reform efforts got a little more complicated this afternoon when the Senate Finance Committee voted down a proposal to include a public option whatever emerges from the upper chamber. But two paragraphs down: “I have polled senators, and the vast majority of Democrats — maybe approaching 50 — support a public option,” Harkin said told the liberal “Bill Press Radio Show.” “So why shouldn’t we have a public option? The big news today seems to be that the Senate Finance Committee (where the Senate’s version of Obamacare has been stuck in the mud for weeks now) rejected two attempts to insert a “public option” into the health care bill. This will tempt some Republicans to declare victory, but I think that’s what the Democrats want . The Senate Finance Committee on Tuesday rejected two Democratic amendments that would have created a government-run “public option” as part an overhaul of the nation’s health-insurance system, with the panel’s chairman bowing to staunch Republican opposition that he said would prevent final passage of a bill containing such a provision.
09/29/2009
The Senate Finance Committee voted to defeat an amendment that would have added a public option to the Max Baucus plan for a health-care system overhaul, 15-8, in a vote that split Democrats and unified Republicans.  It presents a victory for Baucus but a setback for the Obama administration, which insisted on getting a public option in a speech to Congress three weeks ago:Liberal Democrats failed Tuesday to inject a government-run insurance option into sweeping health care legislation taking shape in the Senate Finance Committee, despite widespread accusations that private insurers routinely deny coverage in pursuit of higher profits. The 15-8 rejection marked a victory for Sen.

Patrick Kennedy (D-RI) displays all the class and sobriety of his late father, slyly attempting to tie opposition to Obamacare to a noted segregationist: “It’s very, very dangerous,” Kennedy said in the interview. “We put a lot of people in jail around the world for threatening our country’s security. But this atmosphere of attack that doesn’t attack the issue, but attacks the people, is very disruptive to the institution of democracy, which relies on a respect for the opposition.” He continued: “George Wallace didn’t need a gun to pull a trigger.

Good news  out of the Senate Finance Committee : A key Senate panel on Tuesday voted against creating a new government health insurance plan to compete with the private market. The Senate Finance Committee dealt a setback to President Obama today on health care reform: WASHINGTON — After a half-day of animated debate, the Senate Finance Committee on Tuesday rejected efforts by liberal Democrats to add a government-run health insurance plan to major health care legislation, dealing the first official setback to an idea that many Democrats, including President Obama, say they support.

Dead in the Senate. A key Senate committee voted against creating a new government health insurance plan after senators sparred for hours Tuesday over the necessity of a so-called public option to compete with the private market. The 15-to-8 vote by the Senate Finance Committee could forecast the fate of the public option in the Senate as a whole. The outcome was expected but still a defeat for liberals who view government-sponsored insurance for the middle class as a key component of President Obama’s health care overhaul.

WASHINGTON –A key Senate panel is expected to take up the most contentious issue of the health care reform debate as lawmakers go back to work Tuesday on President Obama’s top domestic priority. The Senate Finance Committee is likely to consider whether the government should offer its own health insurance plan in competition with private carriers. A public option is the top goal for liberals, but it has no Republican support and moderate Democrats say the Senate will never go along.

You can make big money in abortion. Not only do women pay handsomely to have their inconvenient children killed, sometimes repeatedly , but Big Government shovels mountains of taxpayer money at the abortion industry, and under ObamaCare will soon shovel mountains more . Plus, you can sell body parts from the babies you kill. Testimony from an employee of Anatomic Gift Foundation and Opening Lines, companies involved in selling parts from aborted fetuses: QUESTION: Do you think the doctor ever altered the procedures to get you the type of specimens you needed for that day? ANSWER: Yes, every day.

The Gamaliel Foundation is a community-organizing group that acts as the ground troops for Barack Obama’s domestic policies, especially health-care reform. Anyone who has spent any time in church will recognize the worship cadence of this clip, which puts Obama in the place of the Lord in prayer:A couple of points: This video came from last December, not recently, which means that the lunacy preceded the current debate over ObamaCare.

Barbara Mikulski ,  allowed for subsidies to be sent to “women’s health” facilities such as Planned Parenthood.  As the public began to catch on to this tactic (and Representatives had to face their

Republicans are in possession of a letter drafted for Senators signatures which asks: Where are the secret Medicare cuts going to come from? Given that both Rasmussen and the AP polls have come up with the same answer: 59% of seniors are opposed to ObamaCare, the draft letter below has greater significance for Seniors than just the political implications for the Democrats.

By Debbie Schlussel If you aren’t aware of what a Social Security “fugitive” is, read this, and ask yourself, what happens when ObamaCare is enacted?  Will they do the same thing?  Bet on it. A federal judge approved a civil-court settlement requiring the Social Security Administration to repay $500 million to 80,000 recipients whose benefits it suspended [...]

No, I’m not talking ancient naval warfare, or homosexual proclivities either. Although some may believe that what is about to happen in the Senate is in fact akin to the latter for some of the poor souls in various Graybar Hotels . In broader terms, the big task for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is to get 60 votes in the Senate in order to block a Republican filibuster. But Reid could also implement a legislative option known as reconciliation, which would only require 51 senators.

Today we might see a little blue on blue violence, we’ll hope at least. Today the Senate Finance Committee is meeting to mark-up or debate and vote on the health-care bill. Specifically whether or not to add a so-called public option to Obamacare. You can watch the live debate below. Currently the public plan is not expected to get a majority of the Committee’s support. If it somehow does, then we’re all in trouble.

( - promoted by Rocky Mountain Right - ) The Republican Study Committee has proposed the  “EMPOWERING PATIENTS FIRST ACT”  as a reply to ObamaCare. Few will read it, but it shows that at least some Republican members of Congress are interested in health insurance reforms. I hope they’ll still be interested in fixing the health insurance markets after 2010 when they’ll either control Congress or at least will have more say about how Congress will fund or under fund ObamaCare, whatever that may be.

President Obama says it’s a “fabrication” and “distraction” to assert that the Democrats’ health care takeover bills subsidize abortion.Well, not to distract you, but the NYT reports today:Representative Bart Stupak, a Democratic opponent of abortion, is pressing for a ban on health care subsidies for abortions.Abortion opponents in both the House and the Senate are seeking to block the millions of middle- and lower-income people who might receive federal insurance subsidies to help them buy health coverage from using the money on plans that cover abortion.

In the fall of 2009, we are up to three thousand pages, while over five hundred more amendments to Obamacare are being painstakingly reviewed. Here’s where we seem to stand.

There’s an interesting article in today’s New York Times about the fight within the Democratic Party over the issue of abortion funding in the health care reform bill. The entire article is well worth reading, but here are some snippets, followed by some random thoughts of mine: Lawmakers pushing the abortion restrictions say they feel the momentum is on their side, especially because the restlessness of other Democratic moderates is making every vote count. At least 31 House Democrats have signed

Does anyone get the feeling that Barack Obama would have made a great summer-camp cabin mate?  Especially around the campfire, as kids began telling ghost stories to scare everyone else, Obama would probably have told the most outrageous and frightening stories — simply by embellishing stories he heard from other people.  As President, he has shown himself adept at this practice, having wildly embellished two health-care horror stories in the past month to frighten people into backing ObamaCare:One
Carter Lied - lewrockwell.com

I assume people saw Jimmy Carter’s remarks calling the anti-Obamacare demonstrators “racist.” I thought I’d point out that on CNN, he was quoted as saying , “they wave signs in the air that said we should have buried Obama with Kennedy, those kinds of things are beyond the bounds.” Carter intentionally lied, of course, to make it sound like evil resistors were implying murder. The signs clearly said , “Bury Obamacare with Kennedy.” But no one in the media called this to the carpet.

When I was a kid the church we used to go to always had a potluck after the sermon.  We went to a Spanish speaking church and the minister was downright scary at the pulpit.  But I always knew that afterwards the pan dulce and Mexican hot chocolate would be waiting… I remembered all that when [...]
