Multiple sources on the Hill have told The Foundry that as early as next week, the Senate could be debating Obamacare. Senate Majority Leader Reid has stated an intention to take the HELP Committee product and merge it with the Senate Finance Committee markup that is expected to be over by this Thursday or Friday. The left keeps repeating the meme that insurance companies already ration care. What they fail to mention is that the federal government rations care much more than private insurance companies. It will only get worse if ObummerCare passes. Dr. Scott Gottlieb highlights some of the most aggregious rationing by Medicare, which is the system Obama wants to use as a model for health care reform. For a remote agency like Medicare, far removed from clinical practice, it’s easier to try and manage the use of a high-cost but specialty treatment than a much lower-cost but very widely used product.

President Obama has painted himself into a very tight corner with his promises on health-care reform.First, he has vowed repeatedly and unambiguously that no one with an annual family income of $250,000 or less will face a tax increase. President Obama and liberals in Congress seem intent on passing comprehensive health care reform , even though polls suggest it is unpopular with the American people. The New York Times is reporting that more than a dozen state legislatures are considering crafting constitutional amendments that will make it illegal to force every citizen to buy health insurance, a key part of Obama’s healthcare plan. If any of these state legislatures ultimately approve a constitutional change to outlaw the insurance mandates that Obama is trying to force on the nation it could set up a legal showdown between advocates of state’s rights and federal control that will likely end up in the Supreme Court.
