Getting Conservatives elected in 2010 and beyond will depend not only on stopping the Democrat policies, but on presenting our own conservative alternatives. At some point, Conservatives will have to stop punting and start doing something on health care. The rising cost of health care is becoming an increasing problem in this country, both for personal affordability and for businesses. The cause of this rise is mainly due to bad government policy, which the Democrats are simply compounding with

Note the prelude here where ‘Willie’ lays out a devastating case against ObamaCare that leaves the CNN infobabe flummoxed and nearly speechless, as if she can’t believe what appears to be a 10-year-old has a superior grasp of the debate than she or any of the other empty heads at CNN. It’s right at the beginning so you need not suffer through the painful song and dance routine.

The Congressional Budget Office is out with it’s analysis of the health care reform plan being put forward by Senator Max Baucus: Congressional budget analysts gave an important political boost Wednesday to a Senate panel’s health-care overhaul, projecting that the $829 billion measure would dramatically shrink the ranks of the uninsured and keep President Obama’s pledge that doing so would not add “one dime” to federal budget deficits.

James Capretta on the CBO’s scoring of the Baucus bill: “The cost over ten years will be advertised as only $829 billion. But after all that spending, there would still be 25 million uninsured Americans in 2019. Even so, CBO’s estimate of the Baucus plan substantially understates its true cost because it is based on key assumptions that will never hold up over time.” Over time, Capretta argues, the squawking will grow louder to lower the tax on those who don’t get insurance and to restore the draconian Medicare and Medicaid cuts so the price will soar.

From The Philadelphia Inquirer By Rick SantorumWhat do liberal proposals in Congress and state legislatures on marriage, health care, welfare, and employment rights have in common? All will profoundly damage two of our country’s most important rights: freedom of conscience and belief. These freedoms safeguard the foundations of the moral code by which we have successfully governed our country and ourselves. Our society and government’s stake in these threshold freedoms was one reason I started a bipartisan Senate working group on religious freedom and, with Sen.

Robert Reich, the former Secretary of Labor under Clinton and more recently an Obama economic adviser , has been all over the media lately shilling for ObamaCare. The public option is no more dangerous than a box of puppies according to this professionally produced video featuring Reich. (I won’t embed it but it’s worth a quick watch.) The real injustice, according to Reich, is that political operatives like us are trying to “confuse and scare” people about change.

In the latest of many myth-busting articles (the myth being that a majority of doctors believe Obamacare is a good idea), a Wall Street Journal editorial from Tuesday explains “ Obama’s War on Specialists “. This is just one of the early, obvious examples of how government interference will destroy our medical system. Imagine how many more ways it will happen with a “reform” bill that almost no politician will have an opportunity to read (nor will most Democrats actually care to read it) before it comes up for a vote.

Suppose you’re a Blue Dog Democrat, and you tell your party leaders you’re going to vote for ObamaCare, and then swear up and down to your home district that you’ll never, never increase their taxes. Just like the president. It’s a flagrant lie, but just say it with a straight face and a sincere look in your eyes, and the media won’t dare to ask any follow-ups.

One thing I’ve decided about health care reform is it’s making a lot of apparently otherwise really smart people very dumb. They all seem to have lost the ability to read! Sen. Thomas Carper (D.-Del.), a member of the Senate Finance Committee, told CNSNews.com that he does not “expect” to read the actual legislative language of the committee’s health care bill because it is “confusing” and that anyone who claims they are going to read it and understand it is fooling people.

The Swamp blog has crunched the numbers. read The generic no-name congressional preference polls generally split even among Democrats and Republicans. Democrats are more popular than Republicans, but motivation wins or loses campaigns.

Barack Obama promised TRANSPARENCY if he were elected president. This will not have been his first lie to the American people. 72 hours is little enough time to read and digest the bills that will become the laws that rule our lives, and they’re not even giving us that much time to read it, understand it, and debate it. Congress deserves the bad name it has and Barack Obama is its biggest promise maker and liar.

The main takeaway from CBO’s initial analysis is that

October 07, 2009 /ByWilliam Tate / The American ThinkerGallup has unintentionally revealed how they, and other polling organizations, have been pushing the public to accept Obamacare. Not quite sure why Congress is trying to reform health care on the statist model of more government, more costs, and more bureaucracy. According to Peter Suderman writing in today’s Wall Street Journal, most provisions of Obamacare have been tried in the states and have failed to deliver on the promise of lower costs and more coverage while restricting access to health care: [S]tate governments have tested variants on most of the major components of the health-care reform plans currently being considered in Congress.

From The Los Angeles Times , “ Senate healthcare bill estimated to cost $829 billion over 10 years “: Senate Democrats pushing healthcare legislation received a boost from the Congressional Budget Office today as the much-watched nonpartisan agency estimated that a bill being debated by the Senate Finance Committee would cost $829 billion over the next decade. The budget experts also concluded that the bill sponsored by Sen.

Tough stuff. I think Stephanopoulos is right about how the GOP will spin it — $829 billion over the next decade to ensure fewer than 10 percent more of the population? — but this does give The One political cover on his heretofore Big Lie about ObamaCare being “deficit-neutral.” Especially since CBO is the agency that’s been tormenting him for months with projections that the program will cost vastly more than the White House claims. Now, finally, they’ve handed him a politically salable option. You can read the full 27-page letter at NRO.
10/07/2009
The bottom line seems to be it will cost $829 billion (paid for with taxes, penalties, and savings), will lower the projected deficit by $81 billion, and will leave 25 million uninsured (one third of those illegal immirgants). The CBO letter cautions: The Chairman’s mark, as amended, has not yet been converted into legislative language. The review of such language could lead to significant changes in the estimates of the proposal’s effects on the federal budget and insurance coverage.

Democrats will be quick to jump on this as good news , but let’s keep a few things in mind here. First of all, the bill in question doesn’t include a public option . It’s the version from the Senate Finance Committee, which voted down two attempts to include a government-run option. Liberals in both the House and Senate vowed to oppose any legislation that doesn’t include such a provision, and no health care reform legislation will pass without their support. Second, the legislation includes a mandate for coverage.

The Washington Post tells us that Americans are dying due to lack of health coverage. In 1997-1998, the United States ranked 15th in preventable deaths out of 19 industrialized countries. In 2002-2003, the nation fell to 19th, even as costs continued to rise. Up to 100,000 lives could be saved if the country’s health-care system performed as well those in nations such as France, Japan and Australia, according to the Commonwealth Fund study, which was based on World Health Organization statistics.

They’re activists from the anti-private sector, lobbyist-fueled Health Care for America Now (HCAN). This isn’t just a group of people who want to make sure everyone receives health care. It’s a group who wants the government to take over the health sector and despises the very presence of private sector options. Richard Viguerie: Time for Conservatives to Make a Stand ConservativeHQ.com – Richard Viguerie, in his new blog at Newsmax , explains how grass-roots conservatives, using the new and alternative media are the only reliable watchdog left since the Obama administration has come to Washington. There is an almost corrupt relationship between Big Business, Big Government, and Big Media. The Republican Party won’t stop them, so it is up to conservatives to be the only true watchdogs of constitutional principles and limited government values.

National TV: Obamacare is Trojan Horse for Forced Unionism In recent weeks, National Right to Work president Mark Mix has appeared in print, on national television, and on radio networks outlining the hidden payoffs to the union bosses hidden inside the health care overhaul legislation. Last week, Mix appeared on the nationally syndicated Lars Larson radio show to expose this Big Labor Trojan Horse. Listen to the interview or download it via iTunes by clicking here .

This appears to have gone quietly under the radar, more than likely because this is Alaska and if it doesn't have something to do with Sarah Palin, nobody outside of Alaska really cares what happens up here. That, and all the big news about ObamaCare and his failed Chicago Olympics bid probably overshadowed yet another slight toward veterans. But these are World War II veterans that Obama is dissing.

ACORN’s Liar-in-Chief Blames Everyone Except Herself The current chief organizer of ACORN, who was up to her eyeballs in the $1 million embezzlement scandal at the embattled radical leftist group, lied and lied and lied some more in an appearance at the National Press Club yesterday. The state of Illinois can’t pay its bills, according to the local CBS affiliate in Chicago. Illinois has a $3 billion cash gap in its budget, and is now pushing vendor payments out to three months on average. One health-care provider that supports at-home care may have to shut its doors and lay off its employees while it waits for almost a million dollars owed by the state:The State of Illinois’ pile of unpaid bills has grown to a record-breaking $3 billion.

Obama sings about the day his plan for National Health Care died. “The Day ObamaCare Died” was written by Paul Shanklin and performed on the Rush Limbaugh Radio Show. Paul Shanklin web-site is at www.paulshanklin.com Lyrics: The Day OBAMA CARE Died A long, long time ago I can still remember How, the protests used to make me smile Cause I knew we could ram it thru Before they ever had a clue Then maybe they’d shut-up for a while But the protests grew and made me shiver

Charles Krauthammer observes : You have the best generals in the world – McChrystal on counterterrorism and Petraeus on counterinsurgency – the best in the world who know exactly how this is done and who conclude you cannot do a counterterrorism strategy, only counterinsurgency. And all of a sudden he is relying on Biden, Rahm Emanuel, and himself to go against the advice of these experts? Hard to believe. It is.

A report at the link below states: A group of eight Democrats asked Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (pictured) for the health care reform bill to be posted online for 72 hours before a vote on the measure and once again before a vote on the conference report that will meld the House and Senate versions. Mr. Obama wanted this bill pushed through Congress before the August recess. If the bill can somehow be put off until 2010, think how many representatives in the House will be afraid to vote for it for fear they would not be re-elected.

If anyone doubted that the pressure to pass ObamaCare comes from people openly hostile to insurers and who want to use a public option to put them out of business, look no further than the activists at Health Care for America Now (HCAN). The lobbyist-funded Astroturfers took their protests to the headquarters of health insurers Monday, including UnitedHealth Group of Minnetonka, MN, where they declared insurance offices to be “crime scenes” and blocked the doors. The numbers may be small, but

I am a bit late on this one, but once again our illustrious, “Republican” governor, Benedict Arnold Schwarzenegger, kicks conservatives and real Republicans to the curb and comes out in support of the Dear Leader, President Obama, and his attempt to socialize medicine in the United States . Nice. As if there are not enough problems that Gov. Benedict Arnold has made for the once Golden State, he wants to force the specter of socialized medicine on the rest of the United States. Gov.

Posted in Health Care, conservative by Hal_10000Compare and contrast, my friends: Yesterday, Obama had yet another press conference (seriously, man. What is it with that man and the sound of his own voice? Does he ever make time to actually govern?). At said conference, a bunch of white-coated doctors appeared in support. Wow! Doctors like Obamacare! Well, no. The doctors in question are part of an Obama-supporting political group, were specially flown in to appear on TV and were even given white coats to make sure they looked the part.

Intellectual Conservatism Isn’t Dead: Would You Buy a Used Car from a Liberal? (Part II) by Rick Moran Should conservatives pay any attention to liberals who attempt to critique us? I actually sympathize with those conservatives who reject out of hand any effort by a liberal to tell us what’s wrong with us. Sympathize – but neither do I brush off such criticism without reading and digesting it for myself.

Heritage’s top notch Senate watcher, Brian Darling, believes Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid may use quirky Senate rules to ram Obama’s nationalized health care scheme through the Senate without any significant participation by the GOP or the American public. You’ll want to read this.

From the Heritage Foundation’s Director of Senate Relations, Brian Darling : “Leaders in the House and Senate have a plan to pass President Barack Obama’s sweeping health care plan by Thanksgiving without any significant participation by the American public. CNS News has confirmed the details in our September 22nd titled “Passing a Shell of A Bill: Congress’ Secret Plan to Ram Through Health Care Reform.” Nicholas Ballasy reports “a senior aide to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) told CNSNews.com that it is ‘likely’ that Reid will use H.R.

cnsnews.com Wednesday, October 07, 2009 By Nicholas Ballasy, Video Reporter (CNSNews.com) — A senior aide to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) told CNSNews.com that it is “likely” that Reid will use H.R. 1586—a bill passed by the House in March to impose a 90-percent tax on bonuses paid to employees of certain bailed-out financial institutions—as a “shell” for enacting the final version of the Senate’s health care bill, which Reid is responsible for crafting.

How sustainable a political position does this sound like: You can’t see the Senate ObamaCare legislative language and we will not tell you how much it costs. Here is how the San Francisco Examiner put it in their editorial: When then-Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama promised not to sign major legislation until it had been posted on the Internet for public reading at least five days, trusting voters took him at his word. Now they know better.

The Senate proposal for ObamaCare at first included a tax on all “medical devices,” a broad categorization that would have imposed fees on such staples as tongue depressors and tampons, according to Amanda Carpenter at the Washington Times. Only after a backlash from critics did Sen. Max Baucus amend his plan to only tax Class II devices starting at a retail price of $100, and all Class III and above devices. However, that includes another staple for mothers, especially working mothers of infants,

No Compromise Media by Paul Revere Do NOT Support Obamacare. A picture’s worth a thousand words. I love this shot ( from the NY Post ). Obama’s staffers are handing out white lab coats to make the hand picked doctors who support Obamacare look more “doctor-ish” for the cameras. Does that make you want to get behind the monstrous takeover called Obamacare? This should tell you almost everything you need to know: Most docs are not supporting Obamacare (statistics below) This whole “doctors on the white house lawn” thing was for show… Because this huge government takeover of the most intimate part of your life (your health) is on it’s deathbed.

Moderate Democrats are asking Senate leader Harry Reid to give the public 72 hours to actually read the health care bill before a vote is taken. I’ve seen the polling measuring the support/opposition to so-called “Obamacare.” But do we all know what’s really in the final proposal? For that matter, does President Obama? Yes, I know the 72 hours gives people time to ramp up the opposition after discovering items like the ” mommy tax .” I’d rather know in advance what’s going to be happening to me.
