I had a brilliant conversation last night with two public school teachers. We talked about so many things, but invariably it came down to our education system and what can be done about it.As I write this, I’m watching the Bob Dylan 30th Anniversary tribute DVD, and Stevie Wonder is singing “Blowin’ in the Wind” – interesting coincidence?In Dylan’s words: There ain’t too much I can say about this song except that the answer is blowing in the wind. It ain’t in no book or movie or TV show or discussion group.

Remember the “fake but accurate” TANG memo that was the professional capstone to Dan Rather’s career? And the Overlay of Infamy created by Charles Johnson showing that the Air National Guard had Microsoft Word ® during the VietNam War era? Well, the Columbia/Princeton and Harvard Law intellectualoids that occupy the White House have apparently hung a painting titled NEA Affirmative Action Watusi (Hard Edges). It’s a work that was apparently [ahem] “inspired” by Henri Matisse, as shown below.

I love this blog! If you haven’t been to New Zeal , it should be a daily read. Common sense from a true American friend and someone doing the work that real American media won’t do, don’t ‘cha know… More facts, news and truth from this blog than all of American Media put together (minus Fox News, Beck, Limbaugh, Levine, Hannity and other conservative talk radio hosts).

I t is like an all out assault to indoctrinate the nation’s children.  More and more I am starting to believe that all these kids singing about Obama or his programs is the result of something like the NEA conference call.  Really, how many of these videos have we seen so far? This one is particularly galling because it was done right on CNN and the song is pretty partisan.

Recently, I read a blog posting where the author stated quite emphatically that we should believe the best of our political opponents (in this case, Obama and the Democrats), trusting that they have the best of motivations. We should act as though they are behaving in good faith, even when they might not be. On the surface, this looks like good, Christian advice. After all, aren’t we supposed to act in love? And doesn’t Paul say that love “always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres”? (1 Corinthians 13:7).

Andrew Breitbart, the founder of Big Hollywood , Big Government , Breitbart.com and the brain behind the Huffington Post , has had enough of criticism from leftists. Especially an article published at The Daily Beast, and the Atlantic ’s Andrew Sullivan ’s linking to and affirming it, provoked his ire. The author, Breitbart believes , came up with a lot of fancy theories about what Breitbart does and why he does it, but he didn’t have the courage to talk to the man himself.

President Obama announced he plans to nominate Patrick Corvington to be chief executive of the Corporation for National and Community Service, which oversees Senior Corps, AmeriCorps, and Learn and Serve America. My readers will remember that “the Corporation” assumed a prominent role on the infamous NEA Conference call , where ”the Corporation’s” Nell Abernathy joined White House and NEA officials to nudge artists to produce works supporting the Obama Administration’s legislative priorities.

You know – I haven’t talked about ACORN in a while. So, today, I think I’m going to fix that. I’ve already talked a little bit about ACORN’s friend, the NEA, but here’s a bit of a news round-up of some of theACORN-related tidbits that have popped up in the last few days. Here we go: First off, the Philadelphia Enquirer ’s Karen Heller offers up a defense of ACORN’s activities. For instance: Who are these evil, awful ACORN people conservatives keep attacking? Grandmothers and great-grandmothers like Junette Marcano and Miriam McKnight, organizers of the West Oak Lane branch.

Uh-oh. It seems that the NEA and ACORN have gotten deeper into a corruption scandal. Imagine that. Ben Shapiro writes, for Big Government : White House Creates ACORN for the Arts : Over the last week, Big Hollywood and Big Government have been extensively covering the August 10 conference call between the National Endowment for the Arts and a group of artists – a call on which the artists were encouraged to support President Obama’s agenda, with the tacit promise that they would be handsomely rewarded with government grants.

We all know Shepard Fairey for his countless works of art for his company OBEY, but moreso after he created one of the most historical and iconic images possibly in the history of American presidential politics; the world-loved “Hope” portrait . But Fairey’s now legendary work was only one in a sea of stellar images inspired by Obama and his legendary quest for the White House. Fairey and Evolutionary Media Group founder Jennifer Gross collect much of the best of that historic time in Art for Obama: Designing Manifest Hope and the Campaign for Change , a 181-page compendium of the campaign’s artistry.

Big Hollywood and Big Government have done  tremendous work in recent weeks. They have proved without a doubt that the Obama administration and its allies have gone too far. They’ve crossed the line. Federal agencies are turned into propaganda tools. This is something we haven’t seen in the U.S. since, well,  ever . This administration knows no shame. Everything is permissible in order to push its legislative agenda through the collective throat of the American people.

Long a subject of derision from conservatives, the National Endowment for the Arts ran into more trouble when it was revealed NEA funding was granted to artists for creating works of art designed to promote President Obama and his domestic policy agenda. This was a clear case of the taxpayer-supported NEA stepping outside the ideals under which it was created. While some form of federal funding for the arts has occurred practically since our nation’s founding, the National Endowment was created by an act of Congress and signed by President Lyndon Johnson in 1965 as part of the Great Society.

Lately, things haven’t made sense to me. Now, I don’t have all the answers, but millions of Americans come to my show each night because I’m asking different questions. Not only do Washington’s answers not make sense, but the questions reporters are asking don’t make sense. And we’re running out of time. I work with you each night to put the puzzle together. According to Ben Shapiro, there’s new evidence that the White House itself has been using its sway to recruit artists – not just to support President Obama’s “volunteerism” initiatives, but to support basic planks of his political agenda, including health care. In fact, the White House has been tapping its extragovernmental political allies to work with artists with the tacit promise that NEA funds will be in the offing for those who join the Obama Administration political program: [...] The White House’s total unconcern with using the NEA to promise funding, then bringing in a combination of radical left community organizers to help brainstorm with artists is troubling in the extreme.

Marty Peretz, the editor-in-chief of the New Republic–which contains some excellent reporting by writers who must be embarrassed–has grown increasingly bitter about President Obama. Indeed, the bitterness tracks perfectly with the President’s insistence that Israel freeze its settlements. Chairman Rocco makes nice with GOP sentaors, still feigning outrage over imagined “propaganda” motives in the NEA’s inviting artists to promote volunteerism. Landesman’s response today noted that all NEA staffers get annual ethics training, including warnings against prohibited political activities. But in light of the teleconference controversy, he said, training efforts are being stepped up in a way that dovetails with a memo that special counsels to Obama issued to White House employees because of the brouhaha over the teleconference.

I’d like to think that an organized attempt to politicize the NEA would be a story worth looking into. So do you think that editor for the Times looking into blogger scoops will advance this one? As many of you may know by now, my original article, entitled The National Endowment for the Art of Persuasion?, discussed a conference call organized by the White House and two federal agencies, those being the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) & the Corporation for National and Community Service ( The Corporation ).

A few days ago I received a call from my cousin. He’d been hearing some chatter from the family about something happening with a series of NEA articles that I’d written for Big Hollywood and wanted to find out from the horse’s mouth what was going on. His question was simple and concise. “What did the White House do wrong?” he asked. “The White House attempted to use federal agencies for political gain,” I blurted out. The White House officially called Glenn Beck a liar last week. Before Obama took off on his failed mission to win the Olympics for Chicago , Beck did a story on the possible negatives of holding the Olympics in the US.  For instance, the Olympics are an economic drain.  One of his guests also referred to Valerie Jarrett’s role in the National Endowment for the Arts scandal. In each of these references, speakers misspoke about non-material matters.

Eric Scheie asks the right questions : Has conservatism changed? Is it the kind of change that “change” produced? I don’t have to go along with Obama’s form of change, I don’t see any reason why I should have to go along with conservatism’s form of change. If I don’t like left wing Alinskyism, why should I like right wing Alinskyism? If I don’t like left wing ends-justify-the-means, by-any-means-necessary dishonesty, why should I like right wing ends-justify-the-means, by-any-means-necessary dishonesty? If I don’t like left wing identity politics, why should I like right wing identity politics? Why indeed.

For years Fox has masqueraded as a news network while acting as the Republican Party’s own version of Pravda by spreading misinformation instead of reporting the news. When a Democrat has been in the White House they have concentrated on a constant stream of dishonest attacks. In contrast, when George Bush was president, they shifted away from such criticism and participated in spreading the lies coming from his administration. The White House is no longer playing along with Fox’s pretense of being a fair and balanced news organization.

Leftists are very good at naming things. Progressive is one, “Safe School” Czar is another if you ignore the “Czar” part. Diversionary techniques are the key behind creative names that imply the positive but are sinister for freedom, liberty loving people. Tony Perkins, President of the Family Research Council writes in Kevin Jennings — Unsafe for America’s Schools (Link not available) 6/29/2009 Hat tip: Sweetness and Light Few Obama administration appointments have been as startling as Education Secretary Arne Duncan’s appointment of Kevin Jennings, the homosexual founder of the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN), to head the Office of Safe and Drug-Free Schools.

So I have a perverse sense of humor, and watching the current administration make pratfall, after pratfall, and yet one more pratfall is as much fun as one of those slapstick movies where some hapless oaf is launched out of his house, slapped on the head by a board, skates downhill in a runaway bathtub, and winds up neck deep in a pond where a duck craps on his head… you get the idea. Sort of like the elaborate sequence in “The Money Pit” where Tom Hanks does something pretty much like that.

Bernice Young Elementary School , Burlington, NJ) , and apparently organized by Ms.  Charisse  Carney- Nunes , author of  I Am Barack Obama .

Yeah…. “No one shifted an armchair, moved a flower arrangement or asked an unexpected question.President Obama gave five back-to-back television interviews broadcast on Sunday that were as tightly choreographed — and eerily similar — as the multiple Magritte bowler-hatted men milling in the remake of “The Thomas Crown Affair.” The president’s talk show grand slam, conversations with CNN, NBC, ABC, CBS and Univision, all taped on Friday in the Roosevelt Room, was a remarkable — and remarkably overt — display of media management.
