The Navy website prominently features the first recruiting commercial of a new ad campaign. It includes only one person identifiable as a woman. Oh, and be sure to see the CNO’s diversity policy posted just below it. The new Navy commerical featuring the slogan A Global Force for Good was previewed last night at the Navy Ball in Singapore.  It is an interesting shift in how the Navy appeals to potential recruits, a move away from the self-interest message of Accelerate Your Life to a call to public service.   Too bad it missed an opportunity to appeal to women who might want to serve in the United States Navy.

At the cool, hip age of 50, no one thinks they are old enough to be invited to be part of an organization that was formerly called the American Association of Retired Persons. But it is a rite of passage…AARP finds you, offers you some cool benefits, articles, and information and for a few measly bucks, you cast your pride aside and join. Now AARP is doing so mething else really cool. Their new venture is inspired by AARP founder Dr. Ethel Percy Andrus (1884-1967).

When you turn 50, AARP finds you and invites you to join. I remember thinking how funny (at such a tender young age) it was to be asked to be part of an organization that was formerly called the American Association of Retired Persons. When I saw the benefits and the really cool articles and information that AARP provides, I cast my pride aside and joined. Now AARP is doing so mething else really cool. Their new venture is inspired by their founder Dr. Ethel Percy Andrus (1884-1967).

View 86 US / American charities  with twitter profiles. I was originally going to build a list of UK charities listed on twitter but someone’s already beat me to a list of UK charities on twitter . Well done! You get a link from my charities blog post! I just searched for US / American charities on twitter & a straight forward list like the UK version was harder to find so I’m hunting through search results to build one. If you know of a charity on twitter not listed below please use the comments form to post their domain AND their twitter name.
