How can one summarize the city of Athens in a blog post? That would be a fool’s game. Athens is the capital of Greece, practically in the center of the mainland, the economic and government hub of the country and home to half of Greece’s population. For those who have traveled to Greece, you will understand when I say all roads begin and end in Athens. For right or wrong, Greece is still very centralized and Athens is the nerve center of this small country.

Last week, Big Hollywood broke the news that the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF) has proved eager to obey the orders of President Obama. Instead of following the American president’s Serve.gov initiative critically, 60 network television programs (including news programs) have decided to embrace it and shove it down your throats. As BH’s editor-in-chief John Nolte explained : …tens, if not hundreds of millions of Americans, will be urged through the (ab)use of public airwaves to log on to the EIF iParticipate site and volunteer” this week.

Did you hear the news? Probably not. But this is ridiculous . According to Andrew Breitbart and his investigative journalism website BigGovernment.com —the belles of the ACORN-cracking ball—there are more Obama administration officials meeting with the leaders of industry in order to push the White House’s agenda into the public consciousness. You’ll recall the Celebrity Pledge Video, where cultural leaders such as will.i.am, Demi Moore, and Ashton Kutcher (ugh, I can’t believe I had to call them “cultural leaders”) urged fans to “pledge to be a servant to our president.” Well, this is just another piece in the puzzle.

The new logo for the National Endowment for the Arts In his keynote address at Grantmakers in the Arts’ 2009 Recession Conference: Navigating the Art of Change , which I attended in Brooklyn today, Rocco Landesman was his usual combative self, acknowledging the “reconstructive” work of predecessors, Dana Gioia and Bill Ivey , in “build[ing] strong relationships on Capitol Hill” and ” re-establish[ing] the NEA as a respected, bipartisan agency,” but letting us know that he’s now going to

We’ve already told you how the recent legal “win” that the PFOX organization has been crowing about for the past few months is anything but. Our pal Timothy Kincaid wrote a great assessment of it for Box Turtle Bulletin: And, most importantly, the judge found that it is perfectly reasonable for the NEA to exclude PFOX. Because the NEA did not exclude them for being ex-gay, but rather because they have a disruptive political agenda that is contrary to that of the NEA.

Melissa Clouthier alerted me to this post by Donald Sensing. He writes: And to think that George W. Bush was mocked for saying, “If you’re not with us, you’re with the terrorists.” The White House is laying a foundation of future media relations that does two things. First, they are identifying, and most importantly trying to get all the media to identify, good and bad media coverage, both terms defined by the White House.

by Burt Prelutsky I wasn’t surprised that Rep. Joe Wilson felt compelled to apologize to President Obama for calling him a liar.  I also wasn’t surprised to hear that within 24 hours, thousands of liberals had sent in over $200,000 in contributions to Wilson’s opponent in next year’s election even though they knew nothing about him except that he was running against Wilson.  I was heartened to hear that once the word got out, Wilson received a million bucks.  But, frankly, I wouldn’t have been surprised if the other 434 members of the House had censured, expelled or ridden Rep.

CAUTION!               Akurian invocations are not parlor games!             They are elements of extreme and irrevocable Forces and Energies.   Invocations of Testimony are everlasting and without appeal.   Authorized and Empowered Akurians use them sparingly, the wise and prudent study them diligently but do not use them at all, and fools destroy themselves and all those round them in their stupidity.
