Obama Escalates Feud: Administration Attempts to Exclude Fox News from White House Pool Jeff Poor | NewsBusters Just when you thought the White House couldn’t possibly do anything to make their bizarre feud with the Fox News Channel an even larger spectacle – the administration manages to take it to another level. Over the past two weeks, three White House officials have publicly criticized the Fox News Channel by denigrating its status as a news outlet – White House Communications Director Anita Dunn, Senior Advisor David Axelrod and Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel.

In a semi must read, the New York Times’ Jim Rutenberg writes about the war between the White House and FNC, starting with a sit down between Roger Ailes and David Axelrod… What both men took to be the start of a frank but productive dialogue proved, in retrospect, more akin to the round of pre-Pearl Harbor peace talks between the United States and Japan. By the following weekend, officials at the White House had decided that if anything, it was time to take the relationship to an even more confrontational level.

By Glenn Greenwald The New York Times’ David Rohde writes about the seven months he was held hostage by a group of extremist Taliban in Afghanistan and Pakistan and conveys this observation about what motivates them: My captors harbored many delusions about Westerners. But I also saw how some of the consequences of Washington’s antiterrorism policies had galvanized the Taliban. Commanders fixated on the deaths of Afghan, Iraqi and Palestinian civilians in military airstrikes, as well as the American detention of Muslim prisoners who had been held for years without being charged.

I mean, to be fair there has been an awful lot of more time spent on troops in Afghanistan, on health care debate, and obviously this is not taking up all of the White House’s time.(crosstalk)Joe Scarborough: “I’m not sugesting that it is…”Katty Kay:

Town Hall By Ann Coulter The Obama administration has attacked Fox News in order to prevent government corruption stories broken on Fox from bleeding into the other media, which are all-consumed with daily updates on Levi Johnston’s Playgirl spread and Carrie Prejean’s breast implants. That’s understandable. But I think the administration should have picked someone other than David Axelrod to deliver the claim that Fox News is “not really news,” inasmuch as Axelrod was behind the leak of scurrilous allegations in Jack Ryan’s sealed divorce papers when he was running for a Senate seat against Obama.

So I guess this means that dissent is no longer the highest form of patriotism. Barack Obama is now on record as stating that Fox News is essentially “talk radio” masquerading as a news station. In an interview with NBC’s Savannah Guthrie, he confirmed his concurrment with David Axelrod that Fox News “isn’t really news.” Surely I am not the only right-winger in existence who has pondered to himself: what if George W.
Obama ramps up attacks on Fox Newscosmicconservative.com

Up until now, other than a few snarky comments from Barack Obama himself, most of the administrations attacks on Fox News have been made by Rahm Emanuel or David Axelrod or one of his “Czars” or cabinet members. Today Obama had this to say: After weeks of public feuding between the cable news channel and the president’s [...]

You will never find me encouraging anyone to watch Faux News. Instead, I’d like to recommend a documentary entitled “ Outfoxed ,” which shines a light on what goes on behind Faux News’ cameras. All the same, this is America: If the nuts on Faux News want to fake-cry, lie, twist the facts, make shit up — that’s their right. If even more nuts want to watch that crap, pretend like it’s actual news and never seek the facts, that’s their right.

It was a “Twilight Zone” episode, I think.  Where a guy freaks out when a ghoul only seen by him materializes as an elevator operator and  utters a ghastly “There’s room for one more” before the scared shitless guy shirks the elevator which crashes to the ground.  Same thing with an airplane. If the mainstream media scared shitless by the WH’s heavy-handed Oddjob torture of Fox News believe they’ll stay on Obama’s good side by keeping their yaps shut should think again:  There’s Room For One More.

Remember all the hokey talk about how the Moonbat Messiah would unite us? Chairman Zero doesn’t : “When you’re on their side, it’s all OK, but if you’re not, they rain hell down on you,” said R. Bruce Josten, executive vice president of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, bemoaning the administration’s bellicose response to differing opinions on health care and financial regulatory reform proposals. … The chamber, which was an early supporter of Mr. Obama’s health care reform plans, views Mr.

The Obama people aren’t at war with Fox because it’s conservative. They’re angry because Fox has embarrassed them. Its correspondents ask hard questions. Its primetime hosts got Van Jones fired from the White House by exposing him as a 9/11 denier. If Keith Olbermann had done the same thing–and don’t hold your breath–David Axelrod might be denouncing MSNBC this week. Politics is seldom as ideological as it seems. Which is something the White House press corps ought to keep in mind as it stands by in silence while Fox is bullied: Your politics won’t save you.

Joseph Goebbels, Hitler’s Minister of Propaganda Those of you who think it’s absurd to compare American 2009 to Nazi Germany would be well-advised to read this chilling excerpt from a speech by Joseph Goebbels, Hitler’s Minister of Propaganda: “The newspapers today are filled with congratulations for Reich Chancellor Adolf Hitler. The nuances vary, depending on the tone, character, and attitude of the newspaper. All, however, agree on one thing: Hitler is a man of stature who has already accomplished historically important deeds and faces still greater challenges.

I am intrigued by the fight between the Fox News channel and the Obama administration. But this article is not going to be about politics, about who is right or wrong, or even about how each side is interpreting the actions of the other. I’ll leave the political analysis to political experts. I’m an expert in communication, so this article is about communication strategies. Presidential advisor David Axelrod caught my attention Sunday when he said that Fox News shouldn’t be treated as a news organization.

Beck, conservative media use violent rhetoric suggesting White House will retaliate against Fox News and opponents Following the White House’s recent criticism of Fox News for its conservative slant, Glenn Beck and other conservative media have fearmongered that the Obama administration will harm Fox News and its supporters — physically or otherwise — because of their opposition to its policies.

Wednesday night, October 21, former Vice President Dick Cheney received the Center for Security Policy’s Keeper of the Flame Award. His speech came after two top Barack Obama aides — senior advisor David Axelrod and Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel — having gone on the TV talk shows Sunday and used very similar words to explain their latest lengthy policy review as the fault of the long-gone Bush administration ignoring the needs of Afghanistan for years, an accusation that was completely dismantled

Excuses wearing thin for Obama BY STEVE HUNTLEY, Chicago Sun Times Have you heard the news? President Obama inherited an economic mess from the Bush administration. You say that’s hardly news? But it’s been the message sounded over and over by the White House. Top Obama adviser David Axelrod said on one of the Sunday news shows, “He walked in the door, we had the worst economy since the Great Depression.” In San Francisco, Obama talked of being “busy with our mop.” White House heavy hitter Rahm Emanuel used the worst-economy-since-the-Depression line on a public TV news show.

President Obama was asked if it is appropriate to be “working the umps” in regards to White House officials repeatedly calling Fox News “ not a news organization .” The President appeared neither aggrieved nor apologetic in accessing the contentious relationship between Fox News and his administration , though he did claim that it was “not something that I’m losing a lot of sleep over.” The President said “I think what our advisers have said is that we are going to take the media as it comes,

Ace posted about how Mika Brezinksy not only dutifully spun the White House line immediately upon receiving an email correction, but went above and beyond the call of duty by “absolving the White House from any bad behavior regarding Fox News at all.” Watch, then keep reading: “A very calm and understated manner.” Got that? That’s the new standard for political debate; whatever you say in a calm and understated manner must not be alarming, and thus people must not act as if they are alarmed, no matter what it is.

I Heart Cheney for many reasons.  I love his unabashed defense of the Bush Administration’s Gitmo policy, the free-market, the CIA’s advanced interrogation techniques, and now his defense of what the Bush Administration left for Obama to deal with  in Afghanistan.  Here’s how Fox reported Cheney’s statement’s on Special Report with Bret Baier tonight: Well, you had expect that Rahm and Axelrod would attempt to drum up the base with some anti-Bush red-meat.  These guys (like their boss)
