This is an equity catastrophe waiting to happen—and senior Democrats know it. They’re laying a political booby-trap that will transfer even more health spending to government after ObamaCare passes.

Politicians make asinine statements all, the time, but sometimes there is one that stands out from the crowd for its sheer cluelessness and lack of worth. Patrick Kennedy , yep, one of Teddy Kennedy’s sons, a Democrat member of Congress from Rhode Island, lambasted the Church for not falling into line behind ObamaCare. Here is a statement that he made to CNSNews.

Oct 23, 7:48 PM (ET)By DAVID ESPO / AP MY WAYWASHINGTON (AP) – Health care legislation taking shape in the House carries a price tag of at least $1 trillion over a decade, significantly higher than the target President Barack Obama has set, congressional officials said Friday as they struggled to finish work on the measure for a vote early next month.Democrats have touted an unreleased Congressional Budget Office estimate of $871 billion in recent days, a total that numerous officials acknowledge understates the bill’s true cost by $150 billion or more.

And that is a bit scary : On Thursday night, Reid went over to the White House for a talk with the president. The conversation centered on Reid’s desire to put Schumer’s national opt-out plan into the base bill. White House officials were not necessarily pleased, and they made that known. Everyone agrees that they didn’t embrace Reid’s new strategy. Everyone agrees that the White House wants Snowe on the bill, feels the trigger offers a safer endgame, and isn’t convinced by Reid’s math.

Reuters, “ House health reform will have public option: Pelosi ” WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The health reform bill making its way through the House of Representatives will include a public insurance option, but negotiations are continuing on the details of the plan, Speaker Nancy Pelosi said on Friday. “At the end of the day we will have a public option” in the House bill, Pelosi told a news conference. She noted it was possible the Senate might include a public insurance option in its final health reform bill.

Ok, maybe I’m missing something here, but isn’t the idea behind ‘healthcare reform’ to cut costs? I keep hearing all these different bills and pricetags and I am wondering where all these high costs are coming from. Now I may be a bit naive but I would think, ( and this is only my humble opinion ) that if they would make bills limiting the mal practice awards, forcing pharmaceutical companies to lower drug costs and looking into how much tests and procedures really cost, that we could accomplish the very thing that they say they are trying to do.

Yesterday saw some rare good news on the health-care front, with the stealth Democratic plan to move $247 billion in ObamaCare costs off the books collapsing in the Senate on a procedural vote of 47 to 53. Maybe there’s more anxiety among Democrats about a huge permanent increase in government health spending than the White House is willing to let on.Related Posts:Sebelius to America: Don’t Sweat the Details — Cal ThomasCBO deals new blow to health planPat Toomey — $121 billion tax increaseDemocrats’

Way back on May 20 I produced and posted a video which I called “ The Public Plan Deception “. The purpose of which was to expose how key liberals had admitted that the public option was really a back door way to move the nation towards a single payer system. One in which the government provides reimbursement for all healthcare costs, and thus essentially has control over the entire system. A central figure in our video was Dr. Jacob Hacker, a Yale professor who has since come to be known as the “father of the public option”.

The biggest news here is the lack of transparency going on with the current process. In violation of the spirit of the process the bills are being merged behind closed doors with the Republicans being locked out. Remember when Obama promised transparency and how the hearings and such on the health care bill would all be on C-Span and not behind closed doors??Just a reminder, here are Obama’s seven lies in under two minutes. Below you will read about how what are called “Cadillac Plans” will be taxed at 40%.

My first thought? Not enough Charlie Rich. The Congressional Republicans could have had some fun with an ad titled “Behind Closed Doors,” making a kind of Weird Al parody video with unions letting their “hair hang down,” making Democrats “glad that they’re in Congress.” In fact, the word “congress” could be used as a double entendre for the marriage of statists and special interests pushing ObamaCare legislation away from the sunlight of public scrutiny. However, it’s still a great reminder that

[Posted by Karl] From Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals : RULE 1: “Power is not only what you have, but what the enemy thinks you have.” Power is derived from 2 main sources – money and people. “Have-Nots” must build power from flesh and blood. (These are two things of which there is a plentiful supply. Government and corporations always have a difficult time appealing to people, and usually do so almost exclusively with economic arguments.) *** RULE 9: “The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself.” Imagination and ego can dream up many more consequences than any activist.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says, “No worries, there will be a public option”. Miss America Pelosi said at a news conference that the House version of an Obamacare bill would include a public option; this will make the San Francisco base of the democratic party happy, which for all intents and purposes is the base of the democratic party. Pelosi also said that a Senate version might have a public option (meaning they’re feeling the heat and might leave it out) but underscored the necessity for the two chambers to agree on a final product.

Forbes : Why Doctors Are Worried by Marc Siegel The troubles of the impending health care reform are upon us. I sit before my aging patient Julia for a few moments before my office nurse bangs on the door to say I’m running late. Julia looks at me across the desk, and in her pleading eyes, I can see her hopes for a reassurance or a cure. She hopes that I will tell her that nothing is wrong, or if there is something, that I can immediately fix it. She is not thinking about health insurance reform.

October 23, 2009 Dear Kevin, Thank you for contacting me about health reform. I appreciate you sharing your views on this issue of critical importance. When I traveled around the state during the month of August, Minnesotans were asking three basic questions about health care. How are we going to bring down the costs of health insurance? What happens if one of my kids has a pre-existing condition, and I lose my job, or want to switch to a better job? If something bad happens to my family, are we going to have to sell the house or go bankrupt trying to pay off the medical bills? These are the questions I heard most, and they are all great questions.

The Inspector said 74,000 homebuyers received rebates that were not entitled to them. Included in this group were foreign nationals, children and even 53 IRS employees. Of course, the Obama administration is seeking to expand this program. The Inspector General expects the final report to have considerably MORE fraudulent claims.

In case you’ve had your head in the sand, there is an international boycott being staged against Whole Foods Markets . It started on August 11th, when founder and CEO John Mackey wrote an op-ed for the Wall Street Journal criticizing what he calls “ObamaCare.” It opened with Margaret Thatcher’s wry quote: “The problem with socialism is that eventually, you run out of other people’s money,” before moving on to put forward eight libertarian “alternative proposals” to the Health Care bill that echo the right-wing backlash to health care reform.

The latest Harris Poll offers more bad news for the White House as it makes a final push for government-run health care. Support and opposition for the president’s “proposals for health care reform” are now tied 45% to 45%, according to the poll. A month ago, a modest 49% to 41% plurality supported them. More from results of The Harris Poll of 2,293 adults surveyed online between October 5 and 12, 2009: When President Obama was inaugurated, those who supported his “proposals for health care reform” outnumbered those who were opposed by more than two-to-one (50% to 20%).

Washington D.C.: Far from providing “affordable” care for everyone, ObamaCare would result in higher insurance premiums, more and higher taxes, fewer jobs, lower wages, a reduced standard of living and an erosion of privacy and individual liberty. This is the conclusion of a new report, “No Free Lunch: The True Cost of ObamaCare,” by policy analyst Matt Patterson just released by the National Center for Public Policy Research.

Once again, Obama lies. He castigated Clinton’s attempts to get Hillarycare by saying that she tried to get her healthcare policies passed behind closed doors. He claimed he’d open the debate before the public and get it out from behind those closed doors. Yet, now Obamacare is being created behind the closed doors of the Senate and the House of Representatives. So, what happened to Obama’s now hoary promise that he’d have a transparent, open government? It’s gone the way of most of his other promises: down the memory hole.

You have to read all the way to page A-25 in today’s New York Times to learn about it, but the Senate took its first floor vote on Obamacare yesterday and the White House lost. Big. The NYT reports: “Democrats lost a big test vote on health care legislation on Wednesday as the Senate blocked action on a bill to increase Medicare payments to doctors at a cost of $247 billion over 10 years. The Senate majority leader, Harry Reid, Democrat of Nevada, needed 60 votes to proceed. He won only 47.

Even as Obama’s proposals for health care changes attracted two key swing votes in the Senate Finance Committee (Republican Olympia Snowe and Democrat Blanche Lincoln), public opinion is turning ever more hostile to the proposed changes. Americans want no part of Obamacare. Are you listening Congress? By a 49% to 39% margin , most American voters say that no healthcare reform is better than the current disaster that is being put forth by Democrats known as Obamacare. Forty-nine percent (49%) of voters nationwide say that passing no health care reform bill this year would be better than passing the plan currently working its way through Congress. A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 39% disagree and say the current effort is better than doing nothing.

Fox News is reporting that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi reportedly lacks the votes to pass a “robust public option,” the most far-reaching of three forms of a public option House Democrats are mulling to overhaul the nation’s health care system. The shortfall, according to Politico.com , increasingly points to a compromise for a “trigger” option for a government plan on the heels of a private White House meeting on Thursday.

In The Freeman , I write, Overall, I would argue that on the demand side, the United States healthcare system is essentially socialized. The fact is that close to 90 percent of health-care spending is paid for by third parties, which means that individuals in this country generally experience a socialized process for obtaining medical services. I am inclined to lump private health insurance in with government programs, and call the whole deal socialism–even before Obamacare tightens the noose on insurance companies any further.

American Thinker | by Janet Levy | Oct. 22, 2009In George Orwell’s novel, “1984,” Newspeak refers to language designed by a totalitarian regime to control thought and make subversive speech impossible. It destroyed words with prohibited meanings so that heretical thoughts couldn’t be expressed. A form of censorship, Newspeak employed euphemisms and words deliberately opposite the reality they described. For example, “joycamp” was the term assigned to forced-labor camps.
