The state Farm Bureau is teaming up with its national counterpart to fight a  ”cap and trade” energy bill in the U.S. Senate. Like South Carolina’s Senator Lindsay Graham, Farm Bureau officials say the Waxman-Markey bill to cap emissions and re-assign areas of farmland will hurt business, in this case agribusiness.

In a not so surprising turn of events, Chevron’s CEO heir apparent, John Watson, spoke out against U.S. climate change legislation — offering the party line argument that increasing regulation will jack up energy prices and let the air out of our barely buoyant economy. His is just one voice in a chorus of fossil fuel executives opposing the Kerry-Boxer bill pending in the Senate. The Contra Costa Times reported last week that Fiorina is headed to Pleasanton on Friday, Nov. 6 to make a “very important” announcement to the Tri-Valley Business Council. Indeed, Council President and CEO Tobias Brink said today that it “would be my assumption” that Fiorina is planning an official Senate launch at the Pleasanton event.

No where in the U.S. Constitution does it give the federal government the right to require lawful citizens of the U.S. to purchase goods or services as a condition of lawful residence in the U.S. Rep. Pelosi believes that the Commerce Clause gives the federal government the right. Further question. What limit is placed upon the federal government regarding this ‘right’? Where does it stop? Apparently Pelosi did not answer that question. I will tell you that from the federal perspective there is no limit.
