By Patrick J. Buchanan, CNSNews,  October 27, 2009   Patrick J. Buchanan “Sometimes party loyalty asks too much,” said JFK.   For Sarah Palin, party loyalty in New York’s 23 rd congressional district asks too much. Going rogue, Palin endorsed Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman over Republican Dede Scozzafava.   On Oct. 1, Scozzafava was leading. Today, she trails Democrat Bill Owens and is only a few points ahead of Hoffman, as Empire State conservatives defect to vote their principles, not their party.

New York Times — U.S. to Protect Populous Afghan Areas, Officials Say At what point does dithering become stalling? It’s already the deadliest month for U.S. forces since the November 2001 invasion of Afghanistan—eight more GIs were killed in bombings Tuesday to bring the total to 55. Taliban militants brazenly attacked the UN compound in downtown Kabul and across the border in Pakistan, suspected Talibani killed at least 90 people with a marketplace bomb on the day that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton arrived to try to soothe anti-American sentiments.

Sadly, for America, it looks like some version of Obamacare will be a reality. The wishes of the citizens don’t matter, for we have a man in the White House who was suckled on the milk of radical socialism.

Posted on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 Former Congressman Duncan L. Hunter was kind enough to interrupt his hunting and fishing vacation in Idaho once more to call in and answer a few more questions. Unfortunately, he has been mostly out in the woods and has paid scant attention to the political news of the last couple weeks. He’s actually enjoying that aspect almost as much as bagging elk and landing steelhead. This series will continue, whether he’s on vacation or not, during the weeks ahead.

While the wonks are hand-wringing over “public options,” state-subsidized abortions, and coverage for illegal aliens, the more pressing health care reform issue has gone unaddressed in Washington. To wit:  What about plastic surgery?  Will my shiny new health care plan come with cosmetic coverage? Because right now I’m young and well, and so I have no use for, say, a new knee … but a new nose? That I could use.

No Free Lunch: The True Cost of ObamaCare Report Released Source: National Center for Public Policy Research Far from providing “affordable” care for everyone, ObamaCare would result in higher insurance premiums, more and higher taxes, fewer jobs, lower wages, a reduced standard of living and an erosion of privacy and individual liberty. This is the conclusion of a new report, “No Free Lunch: The True Cost of ObamaCare,” by policy analyst Matt Patterson, just released by the National Center for Public Policy Research.

States like Maine, Vermont, Massachusetts and New Hampshire that have imposed ObamaCare-style regulations have seen premiums jump for everyone. If people can wait to get sick until they obtain insurance, fewer healthy people will carry insurance. The cost of an older, sicker insurance pool naturally rises. To prevent this spiral of “adverse selection,” ObamaCare imposes a mandate requiring all adults to buy insurance. But Senate Finance Committee Dems — sensitive to its politically unpalatable requirements and fines — watered it down. This only stokes the cost problem.

Okay, all you TEA Party protesters, 9-12ers, independents, Constitution Party, Libertarians, etc. people out there, here is the chance you have been asking about and waiting for. This is where the rubber meets the road. You either walk your talk or go back to being controlled by the establishment, knowing you did not do when you were actually given a chance to do. Doug Hoffman is a sworn opponent of ObamaCare. If a guy like that wins, in an underdog third-party bid where nobody gave him a snowball’s chance two weeks ago, what’s the message? The message is that Democrats had better watch out in 2010.

According to insider reports, Speaker Pelosi faces a divided Democratic party and can’t muster the 218 votes she needs to pass the House version of ObamaCare, including a new government owned and operated insurance company. Democrats know most Americans, for good reason, distrust massive government run schemes, so they’ve tried to minimize the blow-back by pasting a lipstick label on their government run insurance pig: “the public option.” But six months of acrimonious debate and chaos in Congress have made cynics of even the most naive citizens.  Some 40 – 50 Democrats believe their constituents will dump them next Novermber if they vote yes on”the public option.

For what the right is against — any repeal of the Bush tax cuts, the $787 billion stimulus, Obamacare — is much clearer than what the right stands for.

Verrrry curious given that most of the other numbers on ObamaCare are either flat or getting worse. Support for the plan is negative at 38/42 (last month it was 39/41), many more think the quality of health care will get worse than get better (40/21 versus 36/19 last month), and 47 percent think costs will go up versus just 13 percent who think they’ll go down. Obama’s handling of the issue stands at 43/48, which is also a slight decline from last month.

Looks like hangdog Harry’s Reid’s public government consumer socialist zombie option is on the ropes again. Democratic moderates who control the balance of power on health care legislation balked Tuesday at a government-run insurance option for millions of Americans, underscoring the enormity of the challenge confronting Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid one day after he unveiled the plan as a consensus product. Republican opposition stiffened, and party leaders announced they would attempt to strangle the bill before formal debate begins.

As the various health care reform bills swirl around the Capitol, it seems that the Democrats have reached unanimous agreement on only one point: Whatever legislation they finally enact will not take effect until 2013. This approach seems backward and defies common sense. When a company or a military unit or a head of household faces a serious obstacle, don’t they usually consider all the options, consult whatever experienced experts they can find, make a decision, and only then take action.

It’s starting to look like the Democrats don’t have the votes for the public option.  An internal Democrat memo today shows that the Democrats in the House of Representatives have less than 200 of the 218 votes needed to pass Health Care Reform with a public option.  Similarly, in the Senate, Joe Lieberman announced today that he would join a filibuster of any Health Care Reform Bill that contained a public option .  This, along with Olympia Snowe’s declaration that she will not support Harry Reid’s Public Option, means no public option in the Senate, either.  This doesn’t even take into account Sens.

Couple this with Hoffman’s maybe-yes-maybe-no lead in NY-23 and you’ve got the makings of a conservative thunderbolt next week, which would be spectacular in how it might affect the health-care debate. The Hill reports that Senator Joe Lieberman announced Tuesday that he will not vote for a health care reform bill that includes a government-run insurance plan. Sen.

The more fiscal details of the healthcare bills emerge, the more appalling they seem. The Senate Finance Committee bill includes a broad provision taxing all manner of medical devices. Many savvy observers don’t think Harry Reid knows what he’s doing on health care. The Wall Street Journal reports that “the final shape of the bill remains in doubt, and Republicans swiftly condemned the Reid plan.” Moreover, it isn’t at all clear that he has the votes: Republicans say they will filibuster the Senate motion to proceed to health-overhaul legislation. Assuming all Republicans join the filibuster attempt, Mr. Reid will need all 58 Democrats and two independents to overcome the filibuster and bring the bill to full debate on the floor.

And just who is it that ALWAYS gets the bill for these gargantuan mistakes with our money?  Well, In Amtrak’s case it’s you and me to the tune of about $32 freaking dollars for EVERY  SINGLE PASSENGER that rides the rail daily which includes the Vice President before he became the Vice President …EVERY SINGLE ONE we subsidize up their trip again chipping in close to $32 per passenger!! FOUR TIMES THEIR ESTIMATES BY THE WAY …!!! 41 of 44 Amtrak rail routes LOST MONEY.
