As President Obama crystallizes a new Afghan strategy , Taliban gunmen attacked a guesthouse in central Kabul, killing six United Nations employees and two Afghan security personnel. A Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid , warned there would be more attacks against “anyone who works for the second round” of elections. The New York Times reports that President Karzai ’s brother, Ahmed Wali Karzai , has been on the C.I.A. payroll for years despite the suspicion of his involvement in the drug trade.

President Hamid Karzai, flanked by Senator John Kerry and an array of Western ambassadors, had just announced that he would accept the revised vote totals showing that he had not won re-election after all.

he United Nations today called on Israel to immediately halt forced evictions and demolitions of Palestinian homes in East Jerusalem, warning that as many as 60,000 people there may be at risk of forced evictions, demolitions and displacement. Nicole Kidman is a fine actress. I’ve enjoyed her work over the years, and heartily congratulate her for her long and storied career. I also congratulate her for getting out of her marriage to Tom Cruise, but that’s another story. Now Kidman, like many Hollywood stars who want to prove that they’re more than just pretty faces, is involved in A Cause. Like Meryl Streep’s concern about healthy produce  and Heather Graham for ObamaCare , Kidman wants to Save Something.

The Afghanistan presidential elections, that are slated to begin on November 7th this year have been strongly boycotted by the Taliban and other radical Islamist groups. To show their discontentment, these terror outfits have begun a new campaign of terror in the country. Today, seven people, including three U.N officials were gunned down in a guest house, that serves as the residence for the United Nations officials. The attack took place in the early hours of morning and was comprised of heavily armed militants, with suicide bomb vests taped around them.
