† R-E-S-P-E-C-T: You Get As You Give : The Wall Street Journal ’s William McGurn takes Barack Hussein Obama and his West Wing staff to task for ushering in “ our first post-gracious presidency ”: The most visible manifestations of the new ungraciousness are the repeated digs the president and his senior staffers continue to make against George W. Bush. … Far from one-off asides, Mr. Obama’s jabs at his predecessor have been a common feature of his speeches, fund-raisers and the like.

Journalism has a special, hallowed place for stories of its practitioners’ persecution. There is no higher claim to journalistic integrity than going to jail to protect a source. And the Newseum in Washington, D.C., establishes the profession’s legitimacy with a memorial to fallen scribes, thus drawing an implicit connection between the murdered abolitionist editors of long ago and the struggling outfit that gave you this morning’s page-one story about cute pets in Halloween costumes.

This is just asinine : Jesse Taylor deals with this nonsense, but I think it is important to single out Savannah Guthrie for starting all this crap: NBC White House correspondent Savannah Guthrie asked him that earlier this week. She asked him if his preference for all-male hoops sends the wrong signal. Or as she put it, “Some people might look at it and say, ‘Gosh, there’s the old boys club again.’” Well done, Savannah.

HIJACKING AMERICAN HEALTH CARE By Mario Goveia We are now all familiar with the growing list of falsehoods that got people to vote for Barack Obama last year – from his denial of his long term relationships with Rev. Wright, Bill Ayers, ACORN and others too numerous to mention, to his promises to end partisanship, racial considerations and earmarks, to his promises of running a transparent administration. All patently false, and deliberately so, as we now know from his actions, mostly covered up or deflected or diluted by a compliant mainstream media.

McCarthyism is back. Let’s call it what it is. We are seeing one witch hunt after another led by right-wing opinion leaders, media outlets, organizations and even members of Congress. They pursue personal smear campaigns, grasping at straws to create “guilt by association” and challenge the legitimacy, allegiances and patriotism of their opponents. Remember the Bush-era attacks on the patriotism of anyone who questioned the administration’s policies? Those look tame in comparison.

Who in the World is Glenn Beck?Townhall.com ^ | October 26, 2009 | Bruce Bialosky Posted on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 10:07:38 AM by KaslinI record Special Report on Fox News every day. One day I noticed that there was a change in the preceding show. Neil Cavuto had been transferred to the new Fox News Business channel and some guy named Glenn Beck had taken over the slot. Nothing resonated with me so I didn’t bother to watch his show.I soon heard that Beck had broken the story of Van Jones, a guy who should not have been in any administration, let alone a presidential one.
