For years we’ve been trying to get the world to stop Iran from building nukes. Threats, boycotts, rewards. All were tried. Iran was always taking two steps forward and one step back. And that one step back always seemed to satisfy the pussies of the world who’d rather talk than slap the bat snot out of a recalcitant Iran. Well, thanks to Barack HUSSEIN Obama (mmm, mmm, mmm) Iran’s just been allowed to take 199 steps forward.

The problem with modern-day liberals’ penchant for implementing functions not allowed in the Constitution isn’t just that they’re sticking their noses where they shouldn’t; it’s that it’s distracting them from sticking their noses where they should. Fresh out of the gate, President Obama decided to continue President Bush’s plan to take over the nation’s largest car companies and banks by tempting them with bailout funds, then tightening the noose and micromanaging them from Washington.  Soon after, Obama decided to force taxpayers to guarantee virtually all U.S.

What are Russia’s main interests in the Middle East and the Gulf Region? If you look at Russia’s position today and over the past few years, since it recovered from the terrible ’90s, one of the major issues in Russian foreign policy has been to regain recognition as a major power; with not just a marginal voice in international affairs, but a real vote and a real veto. To be a party that other major powers, namely the United States, come to in order to consult when they want to address major issues on the international agenda.

February 5, 2009: Russia’s state nuclear corporation announced that Russia would complete Iran’s first nuclear power plant in the city of Bushehr by the end of 2009. Russia launched the estimated $1 billion project in 1995 and began supplying the plant with enriched nuclear fuel in December 2007. The fuel deliveries were completed in January 2008. The presidents’ call for cooperation on the question of how to jointly address Iran’s nuclear ambitions is also a positive step. The London statement included a number of initiatives in this vein, including a demand that Iran cooperate fully with resolutions passed by the U.N. Security Council and the IAEA, and support for ensuring that all states ratify the IAEA additional protocol. The language was tougher than what Russia has agreed to in the past.

How about this for a New Rule: Not everything in America has to make a profit. It used to be that there were some services and institutions so vital to our nation that they were exempt from market pressures. Some things we just didn’t do for money. The United States always defined capitalism, but it didn’t used to define us. But now it’s becoming all that we are. Did you know, for example, that there was a time when being called a “war profiteer” was a bad thing? But now our war zones are dominated by private contractors and mercenaries who work for corporations.

Americans travel with the attitude that everywhere ought to be exactly like the US as far as customs and laws, except when the customs are quaint enough to attract their tourists’ curiosity. They think freedoms of access, speech, the press, innocent until provent guilty, ad nauseum are the way the world ought to be, so they behave as if it is.
